This studio specializes in athletic Pilates, with extensive options of reformer, TRX, mat, heated, Cadillac and chair Pilates, making it perfect for Pilates practitioners of different experience levels and preferences! The teachers I've taken classes with are all super sweet, with DEEP knowledge of body physiology and traditional Pilates principles. You can definitely tell that their training program is VERY vigorous from the quality of their teachers, and I've always felt very supported and accommodated when it came to the teachers understanding my personal needs, injuries, and capabilities. Pilatesmith has improved my Pilates practice significantly, and I've learned SO much about my own body and how to protect myself from injuries since I've joined this community. The overall workout is a bit more intense than traditional pilates, but you can definitely modify. The instructors are also all very supportive and motivating. The studio is also very clean and well maintained. Another plus (that I haven't seen anywhere else) is that they offer towels during your session free of charge. Other tips: there is metered parking on the street, cubbies, a water dispenser, and a bathroom. I am hooked, and can't wait to get in to try more classes!

The reformer is intimidating being a first time Pilates goer, but Stephanie and Carina were not only kind and knowledgeable, but they kicked my ass! I am a weightlifting girl but nothing has killed my body like Coreology (in a good way). I swear I can see my body toning and I have only done two classes. What I loved most is that the instructors care about each individual. They come around frequently and correct your form & make sure you're working the reformer and your body to your best potential. They also have plenty of cubbies for you to store your belongings and infrared saunas available for purchase. I have taken classes with various instructors at each of the 3 studios. I found that although they all have different styles of teaching, they are all challenging yet enjoyable. They are not unreasonably challenging and will offer modifications as needed. Most instructors do most of the workout with you, especially in mat pilates, and are great with hands-on correction. They also really know how to incorporate props such as the ball, ankle weights, hand weights, etc. into the workout. By far, one of my favorite pilates studios in West LA!

Having spent…read moreyears at Equinox, taken 1425 barre classes at PureBarre, Reformer Pilates at two other Santa Monica studios, a stint at Fred Fitness -- all places I also loved while I was there -- I suddenly needed a change and quickly. KL's monthly unlimited rate is twice what I am accustomed to recently spending but it's worth every penny, as quality movement is part of my daily ritual. There are often nine time slots as late as 7 pm on a daily basis to choose from. The studio is spacious with great volume and immaculate. The lighting is subdued. But most importantly, the teachers are all superb and lead a rigorous yet accessible 50-minute flow. I ride my bike right into the studio and there is plenty space to park it. I have been doing Pilates for the last 10 years -- private sessions, group lessons, $50 for 40…read moreminute sessions..... so when I walked into Love for Pilates on Main Street I was skeptical -- but was pleasantly surprised to see that immediately I was greeted with someone who KNEW that I was new ONLY because of how well they already know all of the locals. Without even asking for help, my instructor adjusted my reformer based on height for the first time in 10 years!!! I have never had the attention to detail paid as I have in these classes regardless of instructor -- they're all so tuned in! With the correct height adjustment, the workout was completely different from any I'd done before in the best way possible. I've been coming 4 to 6 days a week ever since -- this is by far the best Pilates studio on the westside. Every single time I go, it is a completely different classical workout -- even if it's the same instructor I saw the day before! This studio is THE hidden gem of LA!

I could modify my own springs but a beginner would have a really hard time imo. Also docked a star because the studio itself felt very sterile inside, harsh overhead lighting.

The studio smelled a bit odd but the wipes provided to clean off the machines smelled amazing. I've taken traditional Pilates, mat Pilates, a ton of lagree/solidcore and really felt like the instructor, Olivia, was not engaging. I know it was 6am and she had gotten there shortly before class started. She seemed more energized toward the end of class, however! Hoping to try the mar vista location at some point in the future! Parking -- very easy early in the morning. There are spots in front of the studio. I don't think I'd try to go during busier traffic times!
