I've been coming to this studio for about 2 years now, and it's become my sanctuary! If you're looking for a welcoming neighborhood yoga space that prioritizes your wellbeing over Instagram-worthy poses, this is absolutely the place. The teachers here are truly exceptional, experienced, attentive, and genuinely invested in helping you practice safely. They're wonderful about offering modifications and really watching to make sure you're not pushing your body in ways that could cause injury. Whether you're a complete beginner, recovering from an injury, or just prefer a gentler practice, you'll feel right at home. I love that the studio is warm but not hot perfect for a good stretch without feeling like you're melting. They provide everything you need: mats, blankets, straps, and blocks. Just bring your water bottle and maybe a hand towel, and you're set! The space itself is clean and unpretentious. No fancy locker rooms just a single bathroom, some hooks for your belongings, and benches to sit on but honestly, that's part of the charm. The vibe is friendly and community-focused rather than corporate or intimidating. Prices are very reasonable, especially for the quality of instruction you're getting. The only minor downside is that parking is kind of weird, and you have to scan a QR code and get a validation. Still free though. I guess that's just LA. i had practiced on and off at yogazan (formerly yogaraj) since their barrington studio days and i decided to join with a monthly unlimited membership in early 2024. the teachers are solid, the studio is very pleasant and has everything you need (tysm for providing hair ties!), there's a good variety of classes and times, and the membership rates are more affordable than most west side studios (i literally made a spreadsheet of yoga studios *that are NOT hot yoga* and rates within 5 miles of mar vista). jay co, the owner, is super chill and approachable with questions and feedback. my only suggestion for improvement, which is subjective, is that teachers pay more attention to their playlists. some teachers never/rarely change their playlist which gets tiresome if you go to their class every week. some of the playlists have no flow, like their music library was put on shuffle. i personally prefer no lyrics while practicing so it was major cringe for me that a teacher started singing along to his playlist. i also wish i never have to hear sublime in a yoga class. here are my fave instructors: - jay co: challenging in the best way. chill vibes and non-distracting music. - hope: unique sequencing and changes up the playlist regularly. also offers helpful adjustments. - chloe: great mellow flow classes and vibes - stephanie: love her sound baths - natalie: great mellow flow classes and vibes - diane: challenging and fun. offers hands on adjustments and encouragement. - phyllis: solid feel good flows they do an intro special for LA residents and they're also on classpass. if you go with an existing member, your first class is free. go check them out! read more

I found this studio 6 months after my knee replacement surgery. I could not walk very far and walked with a limp so I thought I'd find a convenient place to practice yoga in my neighborhood. Well, what I found is a studio with amazing, diverse, and compassionate teachers. Many times, I'd find an instructor tucking a blanket, boaster, strap, or yoga block without me asking for one. This is what a good teacher looks out for students in need of tweaks, adjustments, and simply in discomfort (in my case, my artificial knee and hip)!! Top notch studio and I enjoy it very very much! This is my favorite yoga spot by far. Every class I've taken at Yogazan has a wonderful balance of both the spiritual and the fitness aspects of yoga, whereas in the other places I've tried it always seems like there's only room for one or the other. Every class I've taken is filled with all sorts of people from master yogis to first timers, and every teacher takes great care in guiding each individual student to have the most meaningful/valuable experience possible. i initially came across this yoga studio from classpass, and tried it out simply because it was in my neighborhood. i quickly realized how much i loved the diverse instructors as well as the type of people who practice here. everything i've learned from yoga i have learned from jay and his fellow yoga instructors. i was a complete beginner, but they never made me feel inadequate. their corrections are always gentle and effective, with plenty of alt suggestions. the studio has always felt like a soft hug, even in its new location. i liked that it didn't feel intimidating, that it's all age friendly, and that the price point is far more accessible than other franchises. eventually i let my classpass membership go and joined yogazan studio full time. highly recommend classes from the owner, jay, as well as shirley and diane. read more
