Took a class today with my best friend before we walked over to the farmers market! Love that it's located in a walkable neighborhood. I've done 100+ Pilates/Lagree type classes so I was able to hold my own as a first timer at this studio. It was a challenging yet rewarding experience! I'm docking 1 star because even though I'm an avid Pilates-goer the teacher offered no spring modifications which is what I love at a studio like Solidcore. I could modify my own springs but a beginner would have a really hard time imo. Also docked a star because the studio itself felt very sterile inside, harsh overhead lighting. read more

I will say the prior reviews got me a bit worried HOWEVER I HAD A GREAT EXPERIENCE! I took this place via ClassPass and realized the day of that it ~might~ not be beginner friendly. I will say these classes are a bit more advanced, HOWEVER they do have a beginner package to get people used to all the positions. My instructor was Brooke and she was SO nice. She gave me the warning that the class might be harder than expected, she would help support me but let me do my own thing. I had a person next to me so both of them helped with modifications and it was fun! I definitely was lower skill level than everyone else, however I didn't let that from stopping me from learning and getting a good workout. If you are new to pilates, definitely look into their beginner package. If you have experience with pilates, I definitely recommend it! And don't let the other review steer you away :) read more

My first time at the studio & my friends first time at the class. We made time to come early to let the instructor know we were both beginners; she assured us and said she'd go over everything with us. At no point in time did she explain the next poses or what we were doing, until she told us to watch another girl in the class. At one point when my friend wasn't understanding the pose, Debi got frustrated and had her get off the reformer so she could do the pose herself. All of this said very loud & in front of the whole class. I'm not one for leaving yelp reviews, but going to a Pilates class as a beginner is an intimating / vulnerable experience already. If you're a beginner coming to this studio, I'd just recommend a different instructor. read more

Honestly my instructor was so rude and so off putting that it made me never want to go back. I have literally never been to a class where the teacher is so blatantly impatient, blames the participant for being "new" and corrects movements in such a way that is undermining their skill, their abilities, and what kind of practice they want to have that day. Not only did she yell at people in the class, but she didn't even correct with ease or show any patience for new people taking the class. I will never be going back to Debis class, that's for sure! Great little studio! The megaformers are a bit outdated but work just fine. The instructors are awesome and always super informative. They validate your ticket if you parking in the building however normally it still is a $2 charge. There's street parking but only within certain hours 9a-6pm. I love this! I went to a class with Pilates Platinum earlier this year and had a horrible experience that left me crying. First of all - this was an early class and the instructor showed up late, leaving everyone outside to freeze on the street. The instructor was so rude and called out people for having incorrect form very rudely over the microphone. It wasn't simple corrections, she would actually yell at people and say "I don't know why you aren't listening to me" etc, when there were several newcomers. As I was walking out, after she corrected me rudely over the microphone several times, she spoke to me and said "you did alright for a beginner" even though I had been to several pilates classes. I would recommend any pilates studio nearby over this one. read more

I used to go here before moving to another city. This Pilates place is amazing! Instructors are amazing as well! They will cheer you up and keep you moving to have that body you deserve for all that hard work. My body has changed tremendously by going 2-3 times a week. My friend and I went to Pilates Platinum for the first time for a class with Chelsea. The instructor was nice and came over a few times to help assist me and my friend, but we were still struggling to follow much of the class. The reformers here seemed confusing compared to another studio I've visited, and the fast pace of the class didn't help much either. The class was VERY challenging and left us both sore. I think this is a good studio to visit if you're going to be a regular, but if you're using class pass just to try it out once, it might not be worth your time, since the whole first class you'll be trying to figure out the equipment rather than effectively working out. read more

I went to the class for the first time Feb16th at 9:00am. The instructor was extremely rude and kept telling me I was at the wrong location. I booked it through class pass, and they only have one spot! I showed her that I booked the right place, then she said it was the wrong day, and I had to pay for today. In the end, she said I was at the wrong location again! I left and canceled my class. I was never going back there. read more

I started Pilates Platinum about a year or so ago, and was absolutely thrilled and delighted with the changes to my body that it engendered, particularly my booty, which is firmer and perkier now at the ripe old age of 59 than it was 30 years ago. The classes are so hard, I am almost always dripping with sweat even halfway through, but it hurts so good, and I am always glowing when I leave and have such a sense of accomplishment. I literally feel the results immediately at the end of every class! I never, ever thought I'd feel not just good but proud in a bathing suit at my age, and continually get compliments on how amazing my figure is, but I absolutely do, and I give most of the credit to this class. It works every muscle in your body very thoroughly in less than an hour; I don't have to do anything else, and usually don't. When the studios closed in March because of covid-19, I was so disappointed, and watched in dismay as every part of my body started to show the effects of missing the class. I tried my best to exercise in the meanwhile, but nothing did the trick like Pilates Platinum did. When I received the email that they were opening again, it was the only good thing that had happened during this whole crazy time, and I walked into my first class today as happy as if I had won the lottery! It was everything I'd hoped for and more. I could barely finish the class as I hadn't done it for so long, but I could feel every muscle jumping to attention and finally getting the exercise it had been deprived of and craving. I'm sure I won't be able to walk for a week, but it's a price well worth paying to feel like I am doing something great for my body and my mental health too. I have to add that I was so impressed with the drastic measures that are being taken to ensure cleanliness and safety. The machines are not only spaced 6 feet apart, but the class was not full, so there was plenty of space between all of us who were there. The instructor took our temperatures as we walked in the door. The water dispenser has been disabled, the shelves taken away where we used to leave our things (we now have to keep them under the machine we use), all extraneous items such as weights, balls and rings removed. I asked the instructor whether the door would be left open for the air to circulate, but he said that in fact there was an AC system that filtered the air better than if the door were to be kept open (similar to planes, which also filter air like that and which makes planes in fact safer than office spaces of elevators or other enclosed spaces). There are unlimited disinfectant wipes and hand sanitizer. The classes are now 45 minutes to ensure that there is enough time for all the machines and common surfaces to be wiped down and disinfected thoroughly. The zealous attention to ensure everything is clean and virus-free is extremely impressive. All of us in the class felt very safe and secure, and very pleased with ourselves when we made it to the end of class after being so rusty. I am so looking forward to getting my body back in time for summer so I can rock that bathing suit again, and I can tell even after just one class that it is now within my reach. Nicole is a wonderful instructor-- she pushes everyone to try their hardest and was also helpful with giving modifications for those with injuries (including me). I personally follow Corinne whenever she is teaching because she is a very challenging and attentive instructor, and always provides modifications whether you need something easier or more intense. I've taken quite a few barre/pilates classes in the WLA area through Class Pass and Platinum Pilates is definitely the most challenging. I would consider all the classes here to be intermediate/advanced. If you are new to pilates, I would recommend trying other studios first before graduating to Platinum. That said, this is one of my favorite work-outs. The studio is clean, the reformer machines are new and smooth, the instructors are professional and the classes are very challenging. I'd consider myself to be in fairly good shape, but there are many times where I feel pushed to my physical limit at Platinum, and it burns so good. It is a great low impact, full body work out. While I often don't break a sweat in barre, I am usually drenched after Platinum and my core is always sore for days. I am lucky to live walking distance to this location, as parking can be tricky (street). Be sure to bring grip socks and a towel! You will not be able to take class without grip socks! If you forget, do not fret, they sell them on premise. read more

I've been to this studio before and had a fairly good experience, but this time was less than pleasant. I had a free class with a few of my coworkers, and it was pretty obvious that our instructor, Mark, only cared about the people who have taken his class a lot. He showed one of my coworkers how the mega-reformer worked and basically seemed annoyed the whole time doing it. The positive about this was that the workout was HARD. I left the studio pretty much unable to walk and will for sure be sore for days. I get that the class was full, but there was virtually no personal time from the instructor to correct form or just generally help us first-timers. I love pilates and would try again with a different instructor. read more

I have taken classes at the Brentwood studio 5 times now and thus far very impressed with most instructors and love coming to the studio. PROS: Super cute studio and spacious. I have taken class from Debi twice and is thus far my favorite. She is demanding and tough but in a good way. She is detailed oriented and doesn't pick and choose which students to help and correct. She makes excellent corrections, slightly demonstrates at times, and also encourages people. I also got a great challenging workout from Lindsay and found it impressive that she remembers everyone's names. CONS: Parking situation and Mark Strong. I don't want to ding this studio based on Mark but I would have hated this studio and probably wouldnt have signed up for the monthly pass if my first class would have been with Mark. He didn't have an inviting personality and seemed sort of annoyed I was there because he would make his rounds around the class and comment on the same people (good or bad) but skipped me every time. He didn't make you feel welcomed. He would also continue to name out the students he knew. He said "Yes, Brittany" at least 4 times. I don't mind if they don't say my name but I would appreciate if instructors at least check on you and correct you here and there and leave any cattiness outside. I know I'm not perfect to not be getting ANY corrections and to feel completely ignored. read more

One of the BEST pilates studios in Santa Monica/West LA! Mark is crazy hard and will whoop your butt into shape with just one class. Debi is awesome and makes you hold that plank longer then you ever wish to. If you're looking to be challenged, these instructors will make you feel guilty about cheating/slacking on your workout if you try to. Very clean and new studio. Pilates Platinum is the reason I have developed a full fledged Lagree addiction. I had tried numerous workouts and would stop seeing results after a few months- nothing really kept me interested long enough- from CrossFit, to Barre, to Barry's, and many classes at various Equinox's around LA. I took my very first class at PP and I was hooked from the start! I have taken class at both the SM and Brentwood locations- you can't go wrong with either! The instructors I have taken class with are all fantastic- particularly Lindsey and Mark. I just love taking their classes! They are both super motivating, challenging, and friendly! No two classes are ever the same and they do such a great job of adding variety to the workouts and also targeting all the major muscle groups. My muscles are constantly working and burning (like on fire) in their classes. I always end up sweating like crazy and getting an amazing workout every single time. Thank you PP!!! read more

3.5 stars After taking mega reformer classes from other studios, I felt like I had to update my review. I've been taking mega-reformer pilates classes now for several months, and PP having really old machines (10yr old pro-formers) reeaally makes the workout less effective. You actually spend a lot of time moving the bars up and down, and the old rusty machine doesn't make it easy. The old reformers are less grippy, the springs are more stretched out, and since their machines have less padding, my wrist feels discomfort after back to back wrist exercises. I understand PP do have package specials, & some lower CP credit rates for some classes (@7) which is nice, but take in account that validated parking is $1.50, and that there their student to teacher ratio is high (= less personal attention/adjustments). I don't know if I can wholeheartedly recommend this studio anymore. It's really 'A-OK' in my book. I hope they are looking to update their machines soon. I'm not even trying to be greedy and asking for the machines that move with the ramp (e.g. Lagree in LA/ Core40 in SF etc), just some megareformers will do! Pretty Please. This is the largest Platinum studio, but not my favorite because parking is difficult and the machines are older and often need adjustments which is why I marked it down a star. From my Santa Monica studio review - When I started PP, it became part of a workout plan combined with better eating habits. The lbs dropped off quickly and I was afraid that they would come back, but since I love this exercise so much, I have stuck with it and go in about 2-3 times a week. I actually look forward to the classes because they are so energetic, fast paced and kick my butt (in the best way possible). My body is in better shape than it was in my 20s! All the teachers are great, but after over a year of trying different styles and music, I highly recommend: Beth (the one that got me started) she works you hard and has great music Jenny Brian - be prepared for an intense workout Maria - your girl if you want a cardio-pilates combo as she incorporates bursts of cardio into her workouts which I totally appreciate Jaime - super at adjustments and super duper hardcore (she pushes you to your limits) Lindsay Whitley - great energy, fun and a great well rounded workout. I still love Santa Monica the most because how easy parking is and the newer machines... I hate the feeling of stressing out about parking before a workout :( Also, I have tried other studios in the area and this one has the best prices, teachers and studios in different locations, so if you purchase a package you can redeem at any of their studios (Brentwood, Santa Monica, Venice & Hollywood). read more

I was first to review and just wanted to update! PP was my fav workout for nearly a year- I loved the instructors, the variety of each class, the music (usually) the studio, the rates- I did unlimited- and the results.....until I got injured. Was out then nearly a year and then tried to come back. Cannot yet. Still have my injury and PP is not going to be a workout I can do for now but I miss it! I keep them on my FB page and hope to come back. Love it. Wish I could have my own studio even. I had to quit after having 4 months unused. The owner (Heather) was patient waiting for me to come back- allowed me to be on hold and then eventually refunded me. I could not ask for a more pleasant experience. I will be back one day. I've been coming to Pilates Platinum for 2 months now and am obsessed! It is extremely challenging: I'm talking dripping sweat, full body shakes, jello legs walking out...etc. I'm already seeing results in my body (2 months 2-3x per week) and am not bored at all. Mark and Lindsay are my favorite instructors. Mark's class is NOT for the faint of heart... he's really, really tough!! But in a my-booty-is-lifted-waist-is-shrinking kind of way. He also plays the best music! Lindsay's classes are also hard, but she integrates some stretching which I love. The only downside about this location is the parking... it's $1.50 with the validation. Meh. Also, the machines at Brentwood are older, but they still kick your A$$. They don't feel dirty or anything though! Just a tad... rusty. read more

I just took the class with Lindsay this morning and wow! What a workout. I'm new to Pilates platinum and have taken classes in Venice and Brentwood. I love the Brentwood studio because it's especially cute and roomy! I followed Lindsay from Venice to Brentwood and she is an awesome instructor. Every class is different and challenging and she always comes over to make sure your form is correct. I will continue classes at Pilates Platinum on days I need an ultra sweaty workout because after class with Lindsay it's guaranteed you'll need to wash your hair! :P I come out feeling strong, determined and confident and that's priceless! Pilates. I still don't have a clear idea what this is. In all honestly, I'm a 30 year old male yet to complete my first class, but I write this review because Platinum Pilates has helped alleviate some of the fear I have with trying new things. I'll start with the sign up process. Complete cake walk I must say. I recently was invited by a friend to try Pilates so I decided to make the most out of the buddy system and go for it. New year. New me. I was sent a link via MINDBODY and done within minutes. From instructor selection and class reservation to payment and liability waiver signing...it was a completely streamlined process. Never have a felt more at ease about something I have no experience with. Happy to say I was able to lock in that introductory rate without problem. Just took Bianca's 7:30pm class and phew! What a workout. I've been to a few locations: Venice, Hollywood and now Brentwood. The reformers a little different in Brentwood but still the same basic idea. I think since the machines are newer in Hollywood/Venice it's a bit tougher/more resistance for sure. The music tonight was by far the best AND the workout was controlled and easy to follow sequentially. After my first class I was told by the instructor: come 2x a week at least and you'll see major changes in abs and ass. HE WAS NOT WRONG. finished my 5th class and I'm def starting to see definition while feeling much stronger! read more

WARNING: This is the hardest workout I've ever done! Harder than P90X. Harder than any boot camp. Harder than anything! Don't come here if you just want to pretend to work out. Come here to sweat and work your muscles until they shake (to quote the instructors, "that's when the changes occur"). The results are awesome though! I have a bulging disc in my back and after a month of going here a few days a week, I was virtually pain free 24/7. I've now been going regularly for over 2 years and cannot stop singing its praises. It's amazing!!! Your first class is free...so I recommend giving it a try. Piper and Jenny are two of my favorite instructors, but they're all great.
