Shevi is a true healer (and one of the most amazing people). For me this has been life changing. Shevi gets to the root of what's causing the issues in your body (working a lot with the fascia), she also helps heal and strengthen every aspect of your body. What I wasn't expecting was the emotional release that comes in each session, we hold trauma and emotions in our fascia and so of course working with it acts as a major release. Shevi teaches you what to do on your own to continue the strengthening at home and deepening the transformation. I can't tell you the difference I have seen in every part of my body. I broke my foot and came to Shevi for rehab and for other issues in my body and it's been incredible. My fiancé also sees her now and it has changed his body immensely. He's an athlete and had multiple issues that weren't healing until Shevi began working her magic. His fascia was very tight (we could hear it popping as she worked on him) and his results have been miraculous. This is great for anyone who is an athlete, physically active or who needs physical rehab, this is your place. You won't stop coming once you start. read more

I'm an overweight middle-aged woman with back problems -- aka -- not a fitness guru's ideal client. Body Rhythm doesn' t care ... and I am better and slimmer as a result. I will never be model trim nor in top athletic shape and owner Shevi is okay with this because she is a professional with depth. Her goal is to help me achieve the best me I can be which is too lengthy to explain... but involves chasing hoped-for grandchildren in my old age. Whatever your strength and flexibility goal may be, I am confident that Shevi, Amanda and their teams will help you achieve them and more -- even if you're a klutz like me. Go to Body Rhythm and discover a fit, flexible, pain free/ less painful existence through the proper, small movements that these gals require of their clients. read more

Shevi really knows what true movement, Pilates and Gyrotonics entail! Highly recommend this place!!

I have been practicing Pilates on and off for the last 10 years. Since I've moved to Santa Monica I have been looking for a Pilates studio that meets my standarts. Finally, I have found it! Shevi, the sudio owner is an amazing teacher. She is very knowledgeable, observant, warm and generous. After just a few months I feel a great change in core, posture and overall feeling. Beyond having Shevi as a teacher, here is what I like about the studio: - It is fully equipped with all the Pilates equipment - the Reformer, the Chair, and my favorite - the Trapese table. - I have my own personal program which I practice in the group classes. - My program constantly progresses to keep me challenged. - I receive *plenty* of attention, making sure that I work precisely and effectively. If you are looking for a Pilates studio on the West side, this is definitely the place. read more

Who knew? Not me! Sure, Pilates is great. But doing GYROTONICS here at Body Rhythm is pheNOMenal. Would Gyrotonics be as great without Shevi I cannot say but the combination of Gyrotonics and Shevi is the best thing I've done for my body in my whole very long life. It's these stretchy-swooopy-power moves that will make you be ahhhing with delight and wanting More. That's the thing, you'll just want to do it More and get Better. Shevi designs a program for each individual person and follows your progress on every single move, correcting, enhancing, adding, even if there are other people in the class. She must have a headband of eyeballs. She also does amazing physical therapy. Three weeks ago my 'bad shoulder' would not have let do what I can do today. If you're thinking about getting your body to feel really good how about having a chat with Shevi. You've got nothing to lose and so very much to gain. read more

Love the GYROTONIC® teacher trainings here! Elizabeth Jackson is a teacher's teacher. She knows how to hold space for healing. Elizabeth's Ivy League education informs her systematic approach in her teacher trainings. She enlightens us with her extensive knowledge of the human anatomy and release techniques like Yamuna. I am truly grateful to have found Elizabeth. She is a gift to the GYROTONIC® lineage. Thank you Shevi creating such a welcoming studio. I had never heard of GYROTONICS before i met Shevi, but after one session with her, i felt my body connecting for the first time to simple movements such as walking, posture, and sitting on a chair. The fact that GYROTONICS strengthens you, is an actual hardcore workout, and builds your core without negatively impacting your joints, tendons, and ligaments, is incredible. People are going to hear about GYROTONICS in LA, and it will be because of this studio. read more

Shevi is an absolutely amazing Gyrotonic instructor. I've worked with many instructors, and can say with all honesty that she is of the highest caliber. Every session I have with her alters the way I feel in my body. She's extremely knowledgeable about functional anatomy and applied kinesthetics. Its like she has x-ray vision and can see all the way into my marrow. I don't know how she does it! I'm extremely grateful to her for the work we've done and will continue to work with her for as long as I can. read more

Where to begin? This studio has given me hope for the first time in years. I'm 69 years young in mind, but was feeling so old in body. Medical doctors had diagnosed chronic bursitis and stenosis of the spine. Their answer was pain pills and cortisone shots. When I was introduced to Shevi, the studio owner, I really didn't think she could help, but she quickly changed my mind. She is gentle, wise, and proficient in what she does. I'm actually having complete days with no pain at all, a first in many years! Seriously - what do you have to lose? Go and see what is helping so many people. Oh - and prepare to fall in love with Shevi. Paula W. Pacific Palisades read more

Shevy has been a wonderful trainer, very knowledgable, patient and caring. She will ensure that your goals are met a soon as you step under her care. I had a very bad wrist and back problem, she fixed my wrist in two sessions by giving me precise exercises and by making sure that they are done the same way at home. My back still needs more work but I am doing much better after only one month. You can tell Shevy loves what she does, it comes accross strongly. I am recommending Shevy without hestitating and hope that you will have the opportunity to meet her or to be introduced to her work. Francesca Corrado read more

If I had a subtitle for this review it would be HOPE, FINALLY! Before I met with Shevi for the first time, I had terrible lower back pain when I stood in the kitchen or sat in front of a computer. After my first visit at the studio, Shevi with her x-ray vision, diagnosed and started treating my lower back problem. After a few pilates and Gyrotonic sessions, I could already feel my body change, I was able to carry myself properly and even received compliments about my posture. Shevi is a miracle worker. She has tremendous knowledge of the human body, particularly in tough cases where hope is all gone, she is the light at the end of the tunnel. The cherry on top is that my body started looking toner and firmer after only a few sessions- not to mention, I was able to stand and sit without lower back pain. Before you give up hope, no matter how hard your injury or how painful it is, please go and see Shevi. read more

This place is great! Both Shevi and Keira are amazing instructors! I've seen a vast improvement in my posture, the RSI in my shoulder and general well being. Plus, I really enjoy working out here. I'm actually excited to come to class! I feel like this practice is so good for your body after hours of sitting at a computer, this helps reverse the damage. It's the best thing you'll do for yourself all week! read more

I feel very fortunate to have found this studio. I've been having on and off mild tightness and pain in my right lower back area for some time now (most likely from things like running and ballet), as well as general hip flexor tightness, ribcage stiffness, and right shoulder tightness. In general, my whole body felt tight! After a session with Paula the other night, I literally felt an opening up in my lower back and all the joints in my arms, legs, shoulders, and hips. The lower back felt so much better after just one gyrotonic session. I also noticed that after the class, my pelvis felt more relaxed and in neutral position when I was standing upright. I liked the rhythm with which Paula taught, and she has very good body awareness and gives good verbal and tactile cues when teaching. I also had a session the previous week with Betty, another great instructor there, where she taught me a lot of the basic movements and principles of gyrotonics (it was my first session after not having practiced in many years). She was also very thorough with her teaching style and made sure that my form was correct throughout the movements. read more

I really like this place. Came here after having my third child, lost a bunch of weight before but still had those last 15 lbs....I run every day but it didn't help. The combination of running and pilates did the trick! I lost the excess weight and also got my figure closer to pre baby look. I tried both gyratonics and pilates and have to admit that I am more of a pilates person but both were very effective. I have taken lessons with Shevi, the owner, and with other teachers as well. Always had a very pleasant and productive experience. I don't stick to one teacher because my schedule is so crazy and I just do it when I have time, which is another reason I like this place, very flexible on time and no matter when I came, the teacher was always excellent. read more

Working with Shevi is wonderful! Under her guidance, I have been able to heal injuries and add new core and overall strength, and improve my alignment. Shevi has both an exceptional intuitive understanding as well as master level knowledge of gyrotonic and gyrokenesis, and body science. So many times the instructions seem so subtle and the inner movements so small, yet the outer effect is huge. I am often able to carry the internal memory of many of these adjustments after class, and so continue my progress into my activities. The times when Shevi needed to make an adjustment in an exercise because of my physical weaknesses, she always knew exactly what to adjust in order to support my continued progress. I always leave the studio feeling more balanced and stronger. read more

It's been a couple of years, and my workout partner and I have started working with a new teacher named Keira. She is as wonderful as the owner of the studio! She is not only warm and approachable, but she's also extremely knowledgeable. She checks in with both of us every session, asking us how our bodies feel and if we have any concerns. She addresses any pains or issues we are having and offers suggestions on how to improve. She is by far one of the best instructors I've ever had. read more

As a 30-something former athlete with creaks and increasing lack of flexibility, I decided to try and fight what age was trying to do to my body. Yoga was not for me. I just didn't get it. Pilates didn't seem to get into my joints. Then I met Shevi and she introduced me to gyrotonics. Life changing. Shevi's understanding of the human body and how it works and moves is unparalleled. She actually reteaches your body how to do things it has been doing wrong. For people who have been frustrated with rehab...go to Shevi. To people who want to limber up...go to Shevi. To people who want to strengthen their core and find that pilates is just a little one dimensional...go to Shevi. I have friends who I have sent to Shevi and inevitably they call me after every appointment to tell me everything they learned about their body and how much better they feel. I have learned you do not need to live with those aches and pains. Thank you, Shevi and Body Rhythm. read more
