I had tried chiropractic care, acupuncture, injections, and was contemplating surgical options. I was unable to walk for more than five minutes and was in constant pain. After a year of trying to rehab I wanted to try physical therapy. It was a hard decision because of the cost, but I needed someone who could spot me to assure I didn't injure myself any further. I can honestly say it was one of the best investments in myself I've ever made. Paige has given me insights into how my body is operating due to the injury and has guided me towards building the proper muscles to support my spine. She has been so patient, loving, compassionate and kind. My body feels stronger and my spirit feels mended. She is one of a kind teacher. She is present and has a sneaky intuition of when to challenge me, and when to encourage me to accept my limitations. Paige understands and works to help me keep the knees mobile, while also helping me with other focus areas - hips, core, posture, balance. We combine my in-person Pilates sessions with my at home walks and Peloton. I look forward to our sessions and after 55 minutes really see and feel the difference. I know we will accomplish more in the times ahead. In addition to my body and mobility, my sessions with Paige are great mental relaxation for me. I drive an hour just to work with Grete at True Pilates because she truly is a one of a kind instructor. After a year and a half of working with her, I've noticed more changes in my body than working with other instructors for 5 years. The things you learn from her about your body are invaluable. I've become stronger, more flexible, and more stable. It's amazing how simple things you do throughout your day just feel easier. I've taken a couple privates with Maureen as well and she is wonderful! Once you take a private at True Pilates Pasadena you'll feel like you're truly learning Pilates for the first time.

Tere teaches the majority of the classes here. My issue is that even though her classes are small, I would have hoped that she would actually come up to a student and show the proper form if necessary. Yelling instruction to me over the music from in front of the class isn't helpful to me if I don't understand. I wasn't the only one in the class having issues of poor form or not understanding the proper way of doing the exercise. One of the students in the class told me I was doing the sandbag exercise wrong, I figured she might be right because later that day, my back was hurting a little, and not from the exercise, but I think from improper usage of the equipment. I think the instructor should have guided me properly. Gabriela is another instructor there. I didn't see her last year, but she is a GREAT addition. I tried her bungee pilates class and I LOVED it. It was a challenging class, but she definitely approached me when I was doing improper body mechanics. I wish she taught more often because I would definitely only take her classes. Tere has many interesting classes to choose from, but if a client isn't doing the exercises right, it could be a painful mistake.

It's nice that she tries to get to know each of her students because in other studios, you don't get that special attention. She also sets up her classes throughout the week so that it's easy to switch from one high intensity workout one day and then a low intensity/stretching workout another day to give your body a good all around workout. What caught my eye about this studio was that it offered Aerial Pilates. I've never tried Aerial Pilates before, so I thought it would be fun and something different to try. The first class I tried here was Aerial Pilates and she was so patient with me and other women in the class. Make sure you do not eat too much or drink too much water before this class because you go upside down and push down on your stomach a lot. After about 4 Aerial Pilates classes, I feel a lot more comfortable on the hammock, but I am definitely still a beginner. HIIT is the High Intensity Interval Training where it's pretty much like Bootcamp. She sets up several stations around the room working different parts of your body. You will be sore for a couple days after! If you're not a super active/athletic person, I would just recommend doing a HIIT class once a week so it gives your muscles time to heal. Barre is a sweat dripping class. You up and down on your tippy toes the whole session, so your legs will definitely be shaking at the end of class. Mat Pilates was actually my favorite class at this studio, but that's because I prefer low intensity workouts. I like that I am not dripping sweat at the end of the class, but I feel that my abs, back, and butt were really worked out and felt so firm afterwards. At the end of the unlimited month (I took about 3 classes a week), I was very happy with how my upper body toned up. I had a backless wedding dress, so I think my back muscles were my biggest concern. The workouts all helped strengthen my back muscles a lot more and I could see a lot more definition around the scapula area. I got so many compliments after the wedding!

He had heard that doing pilates was a great way to prevent sports injuries. My bf and his daughter were so impressed by Nicole's warm and professional demeanor that he purchased a package of sessions with Nicole for me as a surprise gift. Initially I was very hesitant because I'm not particularly athletic, and I also have never tried any type of pilates or yoga before. All my concerns went away as soon as I was able to meet with Nicole. She is someone who exudes warmth. She is also extremely knowledgeable when it comes to the body and incredibly caring and patient. Nicole gives you her 100% attention and is very meticulous. She helps make sure you have proper form and posture. She is also a great listener. If you have any areas of concern, aches, pains, or even goals, she will listen to you and help you tailor a workout plan catered to your needs. Last year, I went to New York to attend the US Open and was in a lot of pain. I had to take pain medication daily to get through all the walking and sitting I had to do.
