    Tropical Pikkito
    Wilson M.

This hidden gem at the gas station is a great find. The Peruvian food is quite unique. The Tropical Pikkito is the signature dish with rotisserie chicken, cilantro rice, sweet plantain and black beans. Another chicken soup dish we tried has some fragrant herb taste which I'm still trying to figure out when I get home. The price is very reasonable. If I have more time, I would definitely visit again and try some other pork dishes. Oh, this place doesn't have air conditioning but they do have big fans on the floor.

My colleague recently took me to Pikkito, after I shared some photos from my trip to Cusco, Lima, and Machu Picchu. I had mentioned how Lima is the gastronomic capital of South America and talked about how much I loved trying traditional Peruvian dishes--especially Lomo Saltado, one of my favorites. I was excited to try the Lomo Saltado. We both ordered it--he paired his meal with a Pisco Sour, and I had a Chicha Morada, the refreshing purple corn drink. The food came out promptly, and the presentation was decent. However, I found the beef to be overcooked, quite chewy, and overly salty for my taste. The portion of fries and rice was generous, but limited protein for a $19 entree. I also wish the beef had been cut into smaller pieces to prevent it from being so tough. Overall, it was an okay experience--I appreciated the effort but had hoped for a bit more authenticity and tenderness in the dish. It's definitely a pricier restaurant.

Try Pikkito if you are looking for unique flavorful Peruvian dishes! Their roasted chicken dishes are really popular! You can even purchase a whole chicken! One of their most popular dishes, is the "Tropical Pikkito" which is chicken, white rice, sweet plantain, black beans, & tomatillo salsa. Complete your meal with one their delicious tropical fruit smoothies or juices. They also have a few delicious desserts such as their flan and tres leche cake for a nice sweet finish! Pikkito is a casual Peruvian restaurant inside a gas station with limited parking but when you walk in, the decor is inviting, warm, colorful, and cheerful! I ordered the "Creole" which is fried marinated pork, cilantro rice, sweet plantains, black beans and salsa while my husband ordered the "Lomo Saltado" which is angus beef with sautéed onions, tomatoes, soy sauce & white rice. You go up to the counter to order and they bring your food out to you! My "Creole" dish was packed with flavor! I especially loved the delicious salsa! Some reviewers said the pork was way too salty but I loved it and thought it had great flavor but it was a little bit on the dryer side. My husband really liked his dish! The service wasn't the best and extremely slow for only being a couple of customers inside but I am hoping it was just an off day! Overall, my husband and I really enjoyed the delicious Peruvian food at Pikkito!

The owner gave me this soda stating it was the best thing to pair with this dish. Citrusy cream soda is my take

First visit in way too many days. Hot weather and I figured a ceviche would be the perfect meal. Not disappointed. But today they have an AC failure it seems. Hotter in here than it is outside. 91 was the temp I was seeing on my cars exterior thermometer. Fast service and as expected the dining area is up to standards. Except of course for the heat. A massive fan is helping

Wonderful and fast service in a clean and brightly decorated restaurant. The food was pretty good, and I appreciated how the dish came with two of their staple sauces.

Pikkito, is a cute Peruvian restaurant in Middleton. If you're looking for some tasty eats! This charming small restaurant offers a nice selection of treats, like tamales, tres leches cake and treats in their deli case. The service is quick and friendly. Their yucca fries are delicious, with a nice crispy texture. Don't forget to try one of their unique tamales as well. The Tropical Pikkito Combination is a crowd favorite, featuring crispy fried chicken served with cilantro rice, sweet plantains, black beans, and criolla salsa. And let's not forget about the Lomo Saltado - a flavorful stir-fried beef tenderloin dish that comes with tomatoes, onions, garlic, cilantro, special soy sauce, white rice, and French fries. It's definitely a must-try on the menu.

I took out lunch from here on a weekday. This place is attached to a gas station. I had a couple of entrees from here. Food was ready in about 20 minutes. The place had some tables inside. May be there was a couple of family dining in. Lomo saltado and tropical pikitto were my entrees. Both were flavorful. Cilantro rice had excellent flavors.

Shazam - stop here... eat here! you'll be glad you did... Didn't have anything in the house for dinner and thought I've heard good things. I ordered one Tropical (Chicken) and one Creole - jeebus... both were awesome. They may be known for their chicken but don't miss out on the pork! Also tried the tres leches and some cookies. I really fancied the little sandwich cookies :) Pikkito is easy to miss. It shares a building with a gas station on Parmenter St. in Middleton. It's on the East side of the street.

The chicken is amazing - moist and flavorful. Excited there are two locations now. Staff is always friendly. Parking lot is a little small but have always found a spot.

The food took quite a while to come out, but it was definitely worth the wait. The empanadas were perfectly flavorful and crunchy on the outside. The chorizo had a stronger taste than the beef empanada, but the beef was wonderfully juicy and tender. Would definitely recommend getting them as an appetizer! We were warned that the seafood paella would be spicy, but when we tried it, it wasn't spicy at all! It was pretty yummy anyways, so I'd say it was a very salty dish rather than spicy or hot. The rotisserie chicken was very yummy. It came with two sides and we chose sweet plantains and the fritas. The sweet plantains were soooo good, they reminded me of turons except sliced. Only complaint was that it felt like we had five different servers, which made it hard to get consistent attention or feel any personal connection to the service, especially with our table tucked away in the corner, leading to slow and scattered service. Overall, we had a delicious meal here and will definitely be returning for more. Thanks!

I did not have the space to eat it, but I sure did bring it home. The black forest cake did not disappoint. It was delicious. The server was super kind and attentive. The gratuity is also included in your total which the server mentioned. He was also very proactive in asking if there were any allergies. I wish more servers and restaurants did that. How I have not been to this location until now is unbelievable to me. I could eat here every day. We will be back!

The décor and overall aesthetic are lovely, but the food and service didn't come close to matching the first time. The biggest issue was temperature. Majority of food on the plate was not hot and not warm -- not the chicken, not the rice, not the beans. At the previous location, you could see the chickens roasting on the spit, and the food arrived hot and fresh. Here, I'm not sure what's happening behind the scenes, but the food temps indicate it had all been sitting. The only item that was freshly prepared were the plantains. I didn't bring it up to the server because she was checked out the entire time, and honestly, I can't expect her to remedy the kitchen if she can't bring waters. Why is the kitchen sending out food that clearly isn't hot? Is it being held in a steamer? If so the temps are not being checked and that becomes a food safety issue beyond quality‑control issues. Service itself also missed the mark. The pretty glasses are small -- though pretty-- and I had to flag the server down for refills. Same with the sauces that are supposed to come with the meal; they only arrived after I asked. To be clear it was 1:00 on a Monday and there was one other table in the place at arrival, and one table after our arrival. I had been planning another visit to introduce a different friend, but after this experience, I don't think I'll be returning. I hope things improve, because the new space deserves better execution than what's currently coming out of the kitchen.

The why doesn't matter but know we had a very VERY good reason. Anyway, she tasked me with finding a place for dinner and when I saw Peruvian with vegan options including tofu and seitan options, how do you say no? The closest you can get to vegetarian or vegan at most Peruvian places is just something with vegetables or pescatarian. We each started with an empanada. Hers had vegan chorizo and mine was a gluten free version with chicken. I didn't love mine. It was okay but it tasted like they took the chicken stuffing out or the freezer and then deep fried it. The outside was hot but the inside was cold. I also had their chicken and rice soup which was awesome and we got an order of their gluten free Brazilian cheese bread which was fantastic. For entrees, we both got the tacu tacu-hers with veggies and tofu and me with chicken, but gluten free. We both loved our meals. Mine was very soy sauce-y with sweetness, like honey added. There was also enough rice and beans for 6 servings. The fact that I loved and ate it all makes me fat. My wife really liked hers, too, but not being a fatty fat fat like me, she didn't stuff herself to the point of exploding. We each got a drunk, too. She liked her Peruvian margarita and I got their Amazon blush which was a cherry bourbon drink and excellent. So I guess if I am taking a star off it's for my empanada. It's at least a 1/2 star off for the frozen filling and I can't round up to a perfect score for that.

The place had a decent lunch crowd, but was by no means packed, so we figured it would be quick to get food for the kids. Our waitress came to get our drink order pretty quick, but then service slowed for receiving our drinks, ordering food, getting our food, and getting her attention for a to-go box and our bill. As for the food, we ordered the Bangor, which had shrimp and haddock and choice of two sides where we chose the corn muffins and beans. We also got the Nashville hot chicken sliders with sweet potato fries, kids chicken tenders, and kids burger with fries. The kids meals were both quite generous portions, especially the chicken tenders. The tenders were nice and juicy with a crisp exterior and one of the best things ordered. The kids burger was overly charred and had a little burnt taste, so the child wouldn't eat it and ended up eating the shrimp from the other meal instead. The Nashville hot sliders were decent sandwiches and quite large, but were by no means Nashville hot, more like somewhere between mild to medium spice. The sweet potato fries were great though and went well with their bbq sauces. The fish and shrimp received mixed reviews from the two people that ordered it. The corn muffins were definitely something that we would get again and also worked great with the bbq sauces. Overall, it was fine with some good and some not so good. The price is a little higher than some restaurants with similar offerings, but the portions are quite large, so maybe that's the tradeoff. Not sure if this is going to get added to our rotation, but they did seem to have some good happy hour deals, so maybe for that.
