It was all decorated in the Northwoods rustic style, the kitchen had dishes/cups/silverware/spices/coffee filters, a regular microwave, full size fridge/freezer, and regular drip coffeemaker (not some ridiculous hotel coffee maker, I hate those things). We were very lucky to get this place for a night in between reservations and were sorry we couldn't stay longer. It's just a few miles outside of town, where you can (and we did) get groceries and some terrific fish fry easily. The owners are just across the driveway and were very friendly. They have a couple of dogs - the collie came over and visited us a few times (this was 100% okay with us, my middle son *loved* having a doggy friend for a day). Oh, there's a firepit and picnic table outside, too. This place was amazing. Just a little more than a hotel room, but with space to move and the sound of a babbling brook just outside the front door.

Our campsite was nice and we had a nice view of Bear Lake. The main restrooms were cleaned constantly throughout the day and were well stocked. There's a nice big playground in the middle of the campground that my niece just loved. There were a lot of families there and I get the sense that this could be a place where people just love to come; it certainly seemed that way based off how many people had seasonal sites super decked out. The cons: The sites are all identified with their numbers, but I think they could be a little more clear. Both myself and my in-laws accidently set up in the wrong sites because of the way that we were instructed to drive in; the identification markers were after where our site was. So we had to be one spot over from where we were, but we actually both accidently set up in the sites just after where we should have been. It really wasn't a big deal and clearly it was our own fault, but it could have been more clear. We were excited to maybe play on the mini-golf course, but there was a lot of debris on the greens and the grass all around it really needed to be cut. The decorations around the grounds too look like they could use some TLC. We checked out the (tiny, super tiny) sandy beach area and thought it could have been cleaned up a bit. We went down right away one morning and found garbage on the ground & random dirty beach towels where towels don't belong. Later in the afternoon when we went back down there to see what was going on we saw the same pieces of garbage and towels in the same spots. We thought surely by then someone from the staff would have come cleaned it up. We were looking forward to getting in the water and possibly renting some of the water equipment they had at the campground (which would have been so nice), but we heard from several people there was swimmers itch in the water. What a letdown! Not the campgrounds fault at all, but our experience was less than what it could have been. I think this place has potential to be really fantastic, just needs a little more TLC.

Overall it's a nice campground. However do not expect to bring your drinks and snacks to the beach…read morefor a beach day. Not only will you need to buy to stock your camper for your stay you are also EXPECTED to buy drinks/food from the bar/camp store/tiki bar. So whatever you plan on having for a budget double it or don't go swimming and enjoy your day. Coolers, drinks, food, ect not allowed unless purchased from the campground themselves. $8 for a cheeseburger and $65/night for camping.

It has everything from hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, rafting, ATVs, you name it... The campgrounds are set up for small/individual groups to larger groups. Volleyball, hammocks a basketball hoop and other fun things are all around. The cabins are very clean and nice, AC/heat, private bathrooms and showers with nice hot water. Comfortable beds and linens. Then there is the awesome bar and restaurant. Order the Pizza or flatbread, it is excellent, and being from Chicago we know pizza! Eric is a fantastic cook and anything on the menu will taste great. The bar offers all sorts of beers and any other drink you want. Eric and Tom run this place, they know the area well and Eric is an expert on just about anything outdoors. Very friendly place and people. The mountain biking is awesome and if you are a mountain biker you MUST make this trip. The trails in the Nicolet National Forest are some of the best in the Midwest. Beautiful, single track, a bit technical in places, boulders, and the scenery is always beautiful. You may even see a black bear. Trails are well marked in the Nicolet. Rafting the Wolf River is exciting too, or you can kayak it as many kayakers come from all over the Midwest to kayak here. We are rafters, we love it, usually see a bald eagle or 2, lots of turtles, and just a great time. We like to go to Herb's Rafting which works out of Crab and Jacks, a bar/restaurant where a lot of motorcycle riders stop. It is always fun around Memorial Day when there are tons of kids camping at Bear Paw and then rafting the river. They get out at Crab and Jacks where there are numerous Harley Davidsons and riders watching all of this. Quite the different groups of people doing what they enjoy. Thanks to Eric for being such a great guy and Tom with some stories....oh boy, get Tom to tell you some stories... he loves that .... Some photos of the Bear Paw Tracks we came across in May, 2019 in the Nicolet National Forest on the way to the single track. We were lucky enough to see the Mama Bear and her Cub one of the days too--I was thrilled and scared to death! Thank you Eric and Tom Sue and Patrick Morton Grove, IL

Long story short: we arrived to launch our boat and were immediately greeted by an incredibly rude man who asked, "What do you need?" He then continued to speak to me like I was trash, as if I had no clue how to park a trailer. I remained respectful the entire time, but it almost seemed like he got angrier because I wouldn't argue back. he eventually told me to "get the f*** out." At first, I thought maybe he was just having a rough morning since we arrived around 6:30 a.m., but several other people nearby confirmed that he's always like that. Neither I nor any of my friends will ever spend a dime here again. I highly recommend finding another place -- one that actually values your business and treats you with basic respect.

I went to buy a boat landing pass and when I asked if they took cards Bob, the owner, was EXTREMELY annoyed that I didn't have cash. I apologized a few times but didn't seem to matter. He was very rude and not welcoming at all. After I paid and got my receipt he looked out the window and saw our friends parking their truck in the wrong spot (nothing is labeled on where to park so he just parked off to the side) Apparently that was NOT the place to park. Bob also yelled at me because I didn't tell him we had another vehicle in our party, he never asked and I didn't know it was a big deal and didn't know it was an extra $5. I had my 2 daughters with me and they were starting to get very uncomfortable for how angry he got with me. He told me to tell our friend to park his truck by the dumpsters. One one end of the parking lot there were 2 dumpsters and another dumpster (that I didn't initially see) by the building. My friend parked his truck by the 2 dumpsters and Bob came out and started screaming at the top of his lungs using the F word multiple times that he needed to park and he was by the wrong dumpsters. Our friend moved his truck and when he attempted to park by the dumpster where Bob was standing he was still screaming. Our friend again apologized but Bob never let him so he got back in his truck and we decided not to launch our boat there anymore. My husband went back inside to get our money back and Bob got right in my husbands face like he was going to fight him and started to scream at him. He ended the conversation with "f**k you, you f**king fat c**k. How professional of a business owner. We will never return.

I booked the Uniquely Yours massage, and it completely melted away my stress-filled knots. If you can, ask for Diana--she's exceptional. The optional CBD cream was a game changer and elevated the entire treatment. And the shower afterward? Incredible. Multiple shower heads, every product you could need, and even a Dyson hair dryer to finish. I could have stayed there all day. If you're looking to truly unplug and let the stress melt away, the spa at Lodge Kohler delivers in every way--thoughtful touches, luxurious amenities, and skilled therapists who make you feel cared for.
