Classic southern bbq is what you'll find at pig out bbq. They've been serving it up since 2012. I shared the 6 rib dinner with a friend which came with a side (aka trimming), coleslaw, pickles and choice of dipping sauce. My side of choice was fries, can't go wrong with fries - they were crispy, a bit oily, made for good bbq eating. Coleslaw and pickles were standard - good but nothing stand out. Can't recall the dipping sauce but I appreciated that there was dipping sauce. The ribs are smoky but I can understand why they came with sauce because they aren't exactly lathered in any. Unlike saucier ribs I've had, these ribs feel a little drier so the sauce helps in that aspect. The meat was delicious and tender but I don't think this is my type of ribs - I guess I'm more of a saucy ribs girl. I would still recommend giving it a try if you'd prefer a smoky, drier rub! read more

Ordered the Jr. Pig Out Platter (46.95) which included half rack of ribs, 1 lb wings, 8 oz beef brisket and we chose mac n cheese and sweet potato fries as the 2 'trimmings', the platter also comes with coleslaw. First off, it's a ton of food. Everything is super filling so it's definitely enough for 2-3 people depending on appetite. I really liked the brisket and ribs both were packed with flavor and tender. The wings were ok, I would've liked it to be tossed with more sauce. Mac n cheese and sweet potato fries were very very good. I decided to try their bbq. I was hesitant being I am used to southern United States smoked bbq and Toronto is as far north as you can get from Texas. The meat was a bit dry. I can tell they don't leave their meat wrapped after being cooked. The brisket was cut with the grain which gives it more pull with your teeth vs. being cut against the grain and easy to pull apart. The ribs were average. Across-the-board their meat could use more flavor but it was a filling lunch. The mac and cheese was decent. It's not velveeta cheese sauce! My recommendation would be the wings and beef brisket, the ribs isn't the fall off the bone type which I prefer. The wings however is juicy, and the flavor we got (it's garlic something) was really good. Tried Pig Out BBQ a try the other day. Said to them I can make roast beef but can't slice it really thin. Asked if they offered thinly sliced roast beef sandwiches. He said they can do this. The lady at the front was really kind to her customers. I wanted to order a side with my sandwich after I had made the order and with the sandwich on the table. They have one of the best Chicken Wings & Ribs. They will even customize however you like it. We went for 4 Ribs, 4 Chicken Wings, and for our choice of trimming we went for fries. It also comes with Coleslaw, Pickles and a yummy Dipping Sauce. All this for $18.95 +tax. For two people, this is just about right and we were so full. Everything was delicious, we can't even believe how good the food was! The Chicken Wings with Hot Roasted Pepper Sauce was the bomb! Even the Ribs were so moist and juicy. The fries were crispy and I love their Coleslaw and Dipping Sauce. But the best part is how nice and friendly the Guy Cashier was. I live around bloor and bathurst and this is, hands down, the best place to eat on the block, and it's already a great block for food. the price is cheap and there is *no one* there. Pig Out is a fast casual restaurant that serves affordable southern style barbecue. This might be the best deal for barbecue in the Toronto core. Orders are placed at the front cash and the cashier delivers the food to your table if eating inside. I split the Jr. Pig out Platter with a friend. It consisted of Wings, Pork Ribs, Brisket (upgraded for a few bucks), Slaw and choice of two sides we went for Baked Beans and Mac and Cheese. The food came out rather fast as we only had a few sips of beers (unfortunately only basic bottled beers i.e. Coors, Molson etc.). Ribs were good but, not great. They were meaty and tender. I'd prefer the meat to be more moist. The brisket could have been served warmer. It was still tender with a decent amount of fat. It was good brisket but, could be more moist. The wings on the other hand were really good, meaty, non-breaded and the buffalo sauce was on point with a lil kick. The sides were also the highlights both the Beans and Mac and cheese were full of flavor. The Beans has a nice boozy punch! It was a very generous portion of food. I felt I had to waddle out of the restaurant clutching my leftovers in my hands. All in all, I recommend Pig out. There is definitely better barbecue in Toronto but for $42 the Jr. Platter is definitely the best bang for your buck/the best choice. Cornbread had good flavour but it was kind of dry and there was no butter. I was surprised by the reviews of the ribs being dry b/c I found them to be quite juicy. Wings good as well. The pulled pork was good, but tbh I'm a bit over pulled pork. Fries were good and crispy. Mac and cheese not the best I've had, but good. Coleslaw was the only thing I didn't really like. I went with my aunt and my little cousin that came to visit from LA. My aunt was craving BBQ so we decided to try this place out! We ordered the Jr. Pig Out Platter, and upgraded one of the sides to a Poutine, and got Coleslaw for the other side (with spicy and sweet sauce on the side). My aunt LOVED how crispy and juicy their wings were, and I loved how well the sauce complimented the meat. We were also in love with the Beef Brisket. It was SO tender and tasty! And their cornbread!!! We ordered another cornbread since we loved it so much. If I crave BBQ, I would definitely come back here. Both tasted great, and came packed with lots of pork, good value imo. Would have been nice to have more differentiation between the two sauces but regardless can't go wrong with either. Also had a side of poutine, which came in a good size portion as well. Cheese and gravy both came in good quantities although the fries themselves wouldn't be great in the non-poutine version. The special of the menu - 4-piece ribs and 4 wings of special sauces (shown here are parmesan garlic and Carolina spicy). The combination of the creamy parmesan and the richness of garlic was very pleasant - not overbearing but has strong presence. The sweetness and the spiciness of Carolina spicy was another dimension of pleasant combination that encouraged all of my palates to participate in this meal. The smokey pork ribs were juicy the moment your teeth digs in, but had some dry spots which were a bummer. Possibly due to us walking in at awkward timing of the day, but the fries were, although flavourful, were a bit too dry and salty for my taste. (My friend claimed it was "extremely good tasting and possibly within top 3"). All this filling meal for $14, right beside my school of University Of Toronto is a sure spot for me to visit later on. Personally, it would be a 5 star for someone who doesn't eat salty food normally if the fries were less salty, and if the pieces on the ribs are not too thin - too thin of meat is easy to dry than thicker ones but that one's everyone's wish. read more

We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon and tried out their Saturday special: very good value! For $13.95, you get 4 ribs, 4 wings, and fries. The standout for me were the fries. I don't know what they did to them or how they cooked them, but they were sooo good and crunchy!! The wings were also pretty good -- you can choose the sauce on it and I got the carolina spicy. It's supposed to be the spiciest sauce on the menu, but it wasn't that spicy. It's also a bit sweet so it's quite good. I also tasted the parmesan garlic and that was okay -- it's a dry rub and not saucy. The ribs themselves were just okay. The sauce was decent, but the meat was not juicy/fall-of-the-bone. it was a bit dry, but overall the food was pretty decent at a very good value! The service was quick and friendly too. My partner got a few short ribs instead of the regular, so they actually sent over a few extra without us asking, so that was quite nice! It's as good as "the stockyards" on St Clair W. I paid only about $11 for this combo. Very satisfying and tasty. The mac n cheese is made from real cheese. Wings are big... but may be too big since there is a lot of meat compared to the flavorful skin. 2. Poutine is lacking in the cheese curds department.
