A nice family-owned restaurant for 35 years makes this place almost a staple for all in the area. I was visiting my friend and we decided to indulge. Trina, one of the owners, was very gracious to wait on us. This venue is divided into two areas: A seating bar with about eight tables next to the bar. They pad the bill by charging for salad dressing also, they were out of marinara sauce, so they offered to make more and charge an additional monies because they had to make it. Ordered soup and they arbitrarily increase the price. I question the additional charges, however I graciously paid the bill and also gave a 20% tip . At 10 o'clock this evening my phone rang, and it was a female from Pietros calling and she began to tell me that she understood my position. However, I should go to Denny's or Burger King to eat if I cannot afford to eat at her restaurant. Awful experience! Waitress was huffing and puffing. She charged us $40 over and when asked, she corrected it. We gave her a 15% tip, and she proceeded to complain aloud as we were leaving. She then proceeded to come OUTSIDE and yell at us saying "IF YOU PEOPLE CAN'T AFFORD TO COME OUT DON'T COME!" What a disgrace of an establishment. Go to Rossi's in Archbald instead. read more

This restaurant was recommended by the owner of Maiolatesi winery. This place is a little neighborhood spot which doesn't seem to get a lot of visitors other than the people that live right in the area. However, we had one of the best Italian meals we've ever eaten. The service was Friendly and the food was absolutely delicious. The vodka sauce will not disappoint. The bowtie pasta with the four cheese is so so delicious! They also make a really good steak. You can't beat these prices either. We had wine, appetizers, entrées and even desert and the bill was under $100! We love going to this restaurant whenever we are in the Poconos area. read more

First time, and last time at this local establishment. It was VERY VERY disappointing. After the waitress recommended the daily specials, two members of our party ordered the menu items she recommended. The waitress returned moments later stating, the specials we ordered were not available. STRIKE ONE. Then we reviewed the menu again. There were four very interesting veal dishes. Two members in our party ordered two different veal dishes. The waitress then stated, only one serving of veal remained in the kitchen. STRIKE TWO. The quality of the Italian meals was mediocre at best. The salad was wilted, the entree plates were cold, and the small ice cream scope of mashed potatoes that was served with the grisly NY strip was awful. I would have preferred a baked potato with my steak... unfortunate Pietro does not offer any on the menu. STRIKE THREE came with the bill. It included hidden surcharges for the salad dressing. The biggest surcharge was for the simple balsamic house dressing. The smallest surcharge was for the basic bottle runny blue cheese dressing. Sorry Pietro... we will not be back. read more

We've been here many times and have never been disappointed. It's a great small Italian restaurant no fancy frills but great food and very good prices. Wayne often serves us in the bar area and Judy at the bar so we have gotten to know them and find them very Efficient and friendly too. HORRIBLE SERVICE LAST NIGHT. My family and I went to the restaurant last night for dinner and when you walk in there is no sign to seat yourself or wait for a server. So we sat ourselves as we would have been seated in the back because we were a party of 5 with no open tables in the front. The waitress saw my family and me and starting talking to her coworker about us. "Who's this table that just walked in" and also told the owner PETE that we were rude as she was walking to our table. She walked to our table and my mom said "no one was out front and no sign" the waitress said "people usually wait". She didn't introduce herself and was extremely rude. She then told us that the chef didn't have veal and half the menu is veal. How can you open a restaurant and have no veal. The waitress then complained about the tip that was left and we did leave a bad tip. The service was horrible and the waitress didn't check her attitude at the door and made it known that she had a problem with us seating ourselves. The owner actually knows my mother and she didn't say anything to him because the waitress made my mom feel embarrassed and not welcome. Pietro's needs to fix their service because every time we go there it's worse. read more

Went there for the pasta night. I couldn't believe the small size of my serving. I wasn't sure if it was all you can eat but when the server came over and asked "may I take your plate for you?" I assumed not. If that's the case, paying over $10 for a measly serving of pasta that probably cost them $0.50 to make is ridiculous. They charge $0.50 extra for most of their dressings and $0.75 extra for their house dressing. Who on earth charges extra to get salad dressing with their salad?! On a side note, they are also in bad need of a face lift. I will not be going back. read more

Had dinner there just last night. Not impressed at all. Father-in-law always wants to go some place we may really enjoy. He had been there a while back and remembered it to be good. He was really disappointed by the less than mediocre meal and service as well as it not living up to being impressive to us. Starting with our arrival, we stated there were 4 of us. We were asked our name as the "list" was checked. We said we didn't have reservations and asked if they were needed. We were told to wait to see if there was a table available for us, then we were seated. There may have been 3 couples in the place. It was empty. There was a table set for a party of 18 or so. Upon ordering, my wife and father-in-law asked if were ok to have marinara on their pasta replacing the basic red sauce. We were told no because the chef was to busy. I had asked to have my pasta without sauce but butter and garlic instead. I was told it would be $3 more. (really??) I told her I will have it plain. We really enjoy ITALIAN food. To have the appetizer of a stuffed Portobello filled with chorizo sausage was disheartening let alone $7 for one mushroom. Ta have a tossed salad delivered with browning iceberg lettuce was a disappointment as well. Can no one make a salad with mixed greens? And to see the menu list prices for different dressings, very tacky. Cappelletti soup had a tasty broth and was the hottest part of the whole meal (I guess the microwave works well) but the pasta was found to be very tough. Dinner was served, and the plain pasta came out with sauce. When informed I requested it plain, I was asked if I meant with nothing on it at all. I don't know how many ways to explain plain other than ask for it plain. It was replaced with plain cool noodles. I won't exaggerate by saying cold, there is enough wrong with the whole meal that I don't need to stretch the truth. We were asked if there was anything else and we asked for additional bread. What Italian meal would be complete without cleaning the plate with a slice of bread? Yeah, we got none. The whole while there was talk of how busy and behind they were. The large party did arrive as well as other customers but the place didn't get filled while we were there. So if it is recommended to have reservations one might assume the place usually maintains a steady crowd so why would ONE large party put you behind? Especially if the rest of the place didn't fill up? Usually I would speak out during my visit because being in a business I believe you should be informed of your shortcomings in order to address and improve. My Mother-in-law is too nice and believes we should not hurt anyone's feelings and go about like everything is just wonderful, bless her heart. I will go there again as I believe one visit is not enough to truly judge a place. BUT this visit was well below an enjoyable experience. read more

Best Italian restaurant in the Scranton area! Their tomato basil cream sauce is incredible and would make a slab of cardboard tasty. Fortunately, they offer an array of homemade pastas and other things to go with. A must-have at Pietro's is their creme brulee. With the Italian name Pietro's i was hopeing to like the food here. I had it delivered, I think i got the baked ziti, it was lousy. The delivery driver was calling me on her cellphone trying to find my place, which i just off of main ave. This is the place i believe i ordered chicken strip platter for my son and they were not actually breaded at all. Delivery was a long wait. I would not order from here again. read more
