This is great little pizza pub in Forsyth county, featuring a full sized wood fired pizza oven. The venue is small and a wee bit packed at times, sometimes a little loud with the sound of live music. But it's the kind of intimate place you go to wind down after a busy week. I highly recommend the calamari and Caprese salad to start. You can't go wrong with any of their pizzas. As a traditional stand by, the Margherita will not disappoint you, but the Tartufo and Toscanta are amazing. Thursday nights offer half priced wine by the bottle, which you can recork and take with you if a whole bottle is too much for one. The Diavola toppings were absolutely fantastic, 5/5. Unfortunately the dough was sub-par, worse than Dominos and far worse than Antico. Hence my 4 of 5. I know as I have been making homemade pizza for over a decade. This looked like a dough made the same day, with no air bubbles and a compacted doughy interior. The bottom flops over when lifted and absorbs the moisture. No crunch or texture, just pasty. The cheese was decent but didn't seem like whole-milk mozzarella. The dough should be aged at least 3 days and kneaded properly. The top of the dough should be heated in the oven separately so it doesn't become soggy by absorbing the topping moisture. Toppings should be drained of moisture. Corn flour should be added to give it a crunch. read more

TL; DR, I went to a pizza place, got a sandwich, and I have no regrets and will return. Fairly small space with an open kitchen wrapped around a large wood-burning oven, friendly staff, and a tight but well executed menu. Diving deeper: It was my first time in to this new-ish (3 months old) addition to the Cumming pizza scene. On the recommendation of my awesome server, I tried the spicy steak hoagie with a side of truffle fries. It arrived as advertised - chunks of tender steak, a spicy, brown butter sauce, melty cheese, and fresh, fried onion strings all piled on a humble hoagie roll. The accompanying fries were golden, crispy, and perfectly seasoned. While the draft beer offerings were limited, what they offered was great and ice cold (I settled on a solid, double IPA). For those pausing on concern, there was more to be had in bottles or from the decent selection of liquor, should that be more to your liking. Either way, there are plenty of options to pair with your tasty food choice. I was really pleased with my first trip. AWESOME I've been coming to Pies on Post since it opened a few years back. The food was okay. I kept coming because the service was good and I could literally walk there. We ordered pizza tonight because it was quick and close. OMG has the pizza changed. This was, without exaggeration, the best pizza I've ever had. I'm a pizza snob and have had some of the best in NYC and Chicago. I'll eat sub par pizza because even when it's "not bad" it's still good. This pizza is something else entirely. It's amazing. The ingredients are much better than before. You can taste every ingredient. The crust has a nice undercarriage and is nicely charred. Mine tonight looked a little burnt but when I bit into it had a wonderful taste and crunch. Not bitter and burnt. If you follow Dave Portnoy and his pizza reviews, I'm sure he would rate this high 8's, low 9's. A phenomenal score. I even called the restaurant back to tell them how much I enjoyed and appreciated it. Something I never do. Apparently the owners hired a gentleman named Roldopho who spent the last 14 years in Italy learning how to make pizza. It shows. I would normally say it's a good place but it's nothing more than a write off for some owner/ owners that don't want real dining business. Worst experience on a Saturday night ever. It's already a small restaurant but to add mega speakers inside with terrible karaoke blasting crappy music makes it a disaster if you want to eat in. Simply a BAR and a take out! Feel sorry for the service staff who ask that the speaker be turned or music turned down and in turn the DJ or owners turn it up louder! Ridiculous. We have been there before and had good pizza but this night Saturday it was impossible to even hear the waiter much less enjoy a mediocre pizza. Left this stupidity and a reasonable tip for waiter's time. Avoid on Saturday nights unless you're into Fat stupid DJ's with no taste in music or respect for FORMER customers. Went to Vendetti's. This is the best pizza place in Cumming.we have been five times since we moved here a year ago and the food is always consistently fantastic. The servers are attentive and friendly. Sergei is the best! The Diavolo is our favorite but it might be a little spicy for some. The Sorrento, Tortuffo, and cheese pizzas are all amazing. Fresh ingredients and fantastic crust. Pizzas are cooked in a wood fired oven. We've also had the baked feta, calamari, wings, and garlic knots without any disappointments. 1/2 price bottles of wine and live music on Thursday's are amazing too. I read the mixed reviews on Pies on Post. We ordered a Margarita Pizza and a Mediterranean Salad for delivery and I wondered if it'd be great or not so great. Our experience was just okay. First off, they do not put tomatoes on their Margarita pizza. At first I was mad but I looked it up and their description doesn't include tomatoes, so that's kinda on me except of course for the fact that 99% include tomatoes. It definitely didn't help the balance of the flavor of this pie to omit them. Also they say it has fresh garlic (and I love garlic), it was still too garlicky. The quality of the ingredients was pretty good but not amazing (not quite up to Luca Brasi levels (another local pizza place). The salad was okay, a little light on dressing. Overall, if I didn't have another option, this wouldn't be bad but there are several better places at this high price point level, where it's gotta be great not just meh. read more

The worst pizza I have had in 10 years. There chef left after the first month. My first experience was awesome . Stay away. This place opened here in Cumming, and I feared for the other pizza places. I thought the quality was amazing and would make it hard for others to survive. This pizza looked and tasted like some one read the definition of pizza on wikipedia, and made pizza from the definition. It was awful, not just bad. The oven, barely had a flame, the cheese was cold, and the tomato was dried out. Not to mention a dough that did not resemble that of a hot woodfired oven. It is obvious this place is a Trust Fund Pizza Place. No one here has the passion or the ability to recognize a good product, if this is what they send to tables. Filthy menus? come on.....Boxes stacked up where people are supposed to sit? No fire in the oven? furniture that looks 15 years old in a 6 month old establishment? Finally made it into the restaurant after ordering a couple times online and was not disappointed. The atmosphere is nice I really love how open everything is and the guy who took my order who I assume is the owner or manager, was super nice. I love their pizzas and there's always been one I've wanted to try but it comes with a topping I'm allergic to and I always think it's too risky to order online so I've been really looking forward to coming in person. I asked if they could make the pizza without this ingredient because of my allergy and they said yeah absolutely it just goes on top we don't have to put it. The pizza was damn good I'm not complaining but I did end up breaking out in hives later. I don't fault them for this if you have an allergy better to just get something that doesn't come with that but hey I took my chances. In the future it would be awesome if they were a little more proactive with allergies because I'd love to have this pizza again. Putting on a new pair of gloves never hurt nobody Edit: Ended up in the ER would really bump this down to 3 stars if I could. The hospital bill definitely not gonna be worth that pizza man. Went there for lunch with my wife. We started off with calamari. It was a decent sized portion of calamari. I'm not much of a calamari fan, but I enjoyed it. My wife said that it was cut a little too thick, but she enjoyed it also. I had the wings with truffle fries. The wings were crispy and flavorful. The truffle fries were crisp and covered in parmesan. Both were quite delicious. My wife ordered caprese salad with chicken breast. I've been in this are a while (before red lights and the traffic) and the hood needed this place long ago, much like the neighboring liquor store. I've been several times and all meals were excellent. The pizza , brick oven style, is amazing. My kids love the burgers and sandwiches too. Salads are fresh with top end ingredients. Staff is super friendly and hustle. It is a small place so you might have to wait and there's not much waiting room. Support local restaurants with a great staff and attentive management like Pies. We need more of these! If you don't like this place, see a therapist, the problem is likely you. read more

Stopped in today for lunch. Daneca was our server and she was so friendly. My husband and I ordered the calamari and a 10" spinach and artichoke pie. Yum. Maybe the best fried calamari in the area. Pizza came out perfect. Good chew on the crust and fontina was a nice touch. Plenty of spinach, artichokes, and roasted garlic. Next time we plan to try the veal meatballs. I want to start out by saying that this was a much needed restaurant in the area. There is very few restaurants near where we live off of Tribble. This restaurant is locally owned by 2 couples that live in the area. My kids love their pasta and macaroni and cheese. And I highly recommend their chicken sandwich lots of flavor and juicy piece of chicken. My husband loves the 3 little pigs and you can't really go wrong with any of the pizzas. I Also usually hate gin but their gin and Tara named after one of the owners is delicious. My husband loves the old fashion that they have there too! The employees Seem to all pull together and help each other so you probably will have more than one person coming to your table to see how you're doing. They recently opened in the last few months so let's give them some support so we can keep a non chain restaurant going.
