I really like Polish pierogis ... well who doesn't? And in Vienna, I can eat some excellent and varied pierogis just a few bus stops away in Mariahilf. This is a Krakow family-run establishment that is literally a hole-in-the-wall .... but as it's one block from the popular Mariahilferstraße, not too difficult to find. They have both savory and sweet pierogis but I have only ever eaten the delicious savory ones. They have some filled with meat, others with spinach, some with onions and cabbage, others with mushrooms, of course potatoes. You have a great choice and they come 10 for 7 Euro - a good deal! There's also a lot of good beers here that are fun to try as they are not that well-known. You can eat in or take away. I take away because I add onions and hot paprikas and some veggies to my pierogis.
The flyer for Pierogi Bitte says they have the best pierogis in all of Vienna. After eating these treasures, I'm not going to argue that point! read more
