The place has been run by the same family for three generations, and they go out of their way to make you feel welcome.
The Grüner Veltliner, Welschriesling, and Gemischter Satz wines are actually from their own vineyards, and the Nußschnapps is also home made. They currently also have a rather unusual "Sweet Veltliner" from their own vineyards, which is popular especially with the ladies.
In a nutshell, this is The Real McCoy.
The only thing not to like is that they're closed on weekends...

They have three tables outdoors in the summer and four tables inside on the ground floor, which is where people can smoke.
What is hidden from the casual passer by is a huge beautiful vaulted basement which is for non-smoking guests.
They always have highly varied and always interesting seasonal offers. At present (May/June), try the deep fried elder flowers in batter with cranberries for desert. Hint: Ask for some whipped cream to go with it, they will (as always) happily oblige and it makes this desert even more gorgeous (and artery busting)... read more
