We were in Vienna and this restaurant was highly recommended. Upon entering we asked if we could get a table for 2 and were asked if we had a reservation. We said no and then were very abruptly told No! That a table outside wasn't available. We then asked if we could sit inside and they were able to seat us. Not the best first impression however, they did make up for it with different servers and excellent food. My husband had the steak and I had Cordon Bleu . Both amazing. However, the salad we had was the star of the meal. I've never, ever, been excited about a salad in my life but on this very warm day, this light & flavorful salad hit on every level. The buratta cheese was the lightest and fluffiest I have ever had. The food here is outstanding.

This place is a gem. Luckily I found it through yelp. Food is delicious here especially the beef goulash and the potatoe salad is amazing. Their service isn't the greatest since English is barely spoken in the restaurant but luckily they have some English menus. This is definitely a local spot so come try it if your around or thinking of making the trek here. Btw, the interior is very nice with a old wooden type of castle feel to it.

This restaurant has a nice simple wooden interior. The atmosphere is moderately quiet with only a few scattered conversations going on. I ordered the Suckling Lamb Pork Chops and they were absolutely delicious. It had this potato like pasta that was very good as well. I would order the dish again in a heartbeat. The flavor was rich and not oily at all. My stomach hadn't been doing so well from the food I'd eaten in Hungary but this cured me. I felt great after eating here. I would definitely come here again, and I would easily recommend this to my friends. The service was great too. The waitress was very attentive and was always ready with suggestions and to take my order. It was a nice change of pace after being in Budapest. I was the only English speaking customer while here, which I think is a testament to how good the restaurant is if it's frequented by so many locals. Do yourself a favor and stop by here while you're in Vienna.

More of a local spot, had an English menu that I could use, but glad I came with an Austrian friend who spoke German. Restaurant is very warm, I have on a medium sweater and am sweating. Food was good, but I like very clean meat and the goulash had some fatty parts which was not something I loved. The potato salad and schnitzel were very good.

So, folks, if you like bacon, this is your heaven! Me ... Can't even stand the smell of bacon, or fat meat, or pork... So here I am in an Austrian restaurant, looking at a menu in German and see that pretty much everything is repaired with "speck" and with my very limited German I assume it's bacon. But then I request the menu in English and it doesn't really say that bacon is used in preparation of everything, so I order my meal just to discover it's cooked with bacon:-( Good thing I had a very decent soup and salad before that. My husband felt sorry for me and offered so kindly to share his meal with me, which he loved, but guess what?... It was cooked with bacon bits as well:-) Anyway, Bon appetite to all the bacon lovers!

Here at the Waldviertlerhof you are in the heart of Vienna's 5th district. Surrounded by a nice ambience in this fancy neighborhood the Waldviertlerhof restaurant is an institution for Vienna where you get authentic delicious Austrian food in a traditional environment. We had the delicious Waldviertler Gröstl with bacon, scrambled eggs, potatoes and green salad. What we also had was the Beuschel, to be specific the Kalbsrahmbeuschel, a creamed and chopped calf's light with bread dumplings, also a delicious traditional meal from the Austrian cuisine. The staff is friendly, the prices are in the midrange segment and you get good quality for your money in a traditional Austrian ambience. With Love! Dr. Dr. Immanuel Fruhmann

Delicious stew with dumplings and veal lungs and heart (sounds crazy but it was sooooo good).

Great little heurigen tucked away inside the 8th district!…read more Cute setting; you'd never know you were so close to the city center. This heurigen is not as large as those on the edge of town, so call ahead to make a reservation. Their wine is nice, but their food selection, while tasty, is not a huge list of options.

I discovered Weinstube Josefstadt while some friends from the U.S. were visiting and really wanted…read moreto visit a heuriger, but they weren't so keen on trekking outside the inner city. After asking a few friends for recommendations, we decided to try out Weinstube Josefstadt, and this place did NOT disappoint! Located in the 8th district down a quiet street, Weinstube Josefstadt is in a super convenient location, yet still offers the feeling of the authentic heuriger dining experience (particularly for tourists) - walking in off the street, you enter a courtyard filled with vines and creepers: it's super lush and green. You forget you're in the inner city, and there are trellises with vines everywhere (and plenty of seating, including outside). There's a wine menu, of course, and service for drinks, but meals are self-serve if you've come to eat as well as drink wine. Some of the fare we had included different cheeses, sausages, bread, pickles, Austrian potato salad, spinach strudel, and all different types of spreads to go with the bread. There were also a few other menu items that I forget now; I do remember the strudel being pretty tasty, and the spreads we tried were quite good, too. It was pretty interesting because you paid for the food based on weight, so you could order 10 deka (10 dekagrams (100 grams) = about 1/4 of a pound) of cheese - Austrians use dekagrams to measure food. If you're looking for this place, keep an eye out for the metallic wreath outside - wreaths are markers of open heurigers. Even though it's in the inner city, since it's kind of tucked away you'll miss it if you're not looking for it.

It's roughly a 7 minute walk from the Pilgram-gasse stop on the U4 green line. It's definitely in a more residential area. We arrived around 730p and we're both greeted and seated quite immediately. I ordered a wine cocktail that had Muscato and grapes. It was just how I like it, sweet lol. Our server also brought out fresh and warm bread. It was served with this pink colored cream. The consistency resembled a whipped cream cheese. Very light and slightly sweet. I ordered the (Gebratene Entenbrust mit Waldpilz-Trüffel-Risotto, Parmesan, Rote - Bete - Sauce), which is a Roasted Duck, Wild Mushroom, Truffle and Parm Risotto, and a beet sauce. The duck was cooked and seasoned well, though it was close to being overdone. The risotto was to die for! I ate every single thing on the plate, including the sauce. I really wish I had ordered dessert because they had so many options; however, I felt sufficiently satisfied/full so I didn't order any. My colleagues ordered the salmon cream soup (I dipped a piece of bread in it and it was delectable! Very balanced curry flavor), the Norwegian salmon, and the braised beef cheeks. Both of them enjoyed their meal and their Hungarian wines! I'll definitely add this to my list of restaurants to visit each time I return to Vienna.

I got the duck as that's what everyone recommended. It's solid, not amazing, but solid. Check out the truffle side order I got (in the pic)! That was awesome. I've never seen actual truffle and he carved some pieces right on my duck which totally made it taste better. The beef tartare I got for the app was also solid though the soup was just ok. Recommended a great glass of Austrian wine that was full-bodied and left me a bit tipsy which I was really surprised at. Dessert was typical. Sat outside also which was really nice in their courtyard.
