Dr. Pier Paulo's treatment of my back pain and other stresses has turned my life around. As a highly educated doctor of oriental medicine, massage therapist, and acupuncturist she brings an elevated level of skills to the table.
Dr. Paulo first interviews you to ascertain your level of pain/discomfort. Intensity of massage, length, etc. are discussed and your treatment begins. Her treatment space is immaculate and welcoming with relaxing music and pleasant scents. You are left to disrobe to your comfort level and when she returns an incredible session of relaxation combined with healing pressure begins. If (as in my case) deep tissue massage is indicated, you may be surprised at the level of pressure this diminutive professional can exert. I'm still not convinced she doesn't tag team with an NFL linebacker, but am content to keep my eyes closed and toes curled.
Unlike some therapists who either give a general, all-over massage or conversely only concentrate on areas the patient has identified as trouble spots, Dr. Paulo easily identifies knots and tight areas you never realized you had and focuses on them as well as whatever areas you may have identified as problem spots. Your time is up all too soon and you look forward to your next visit as you walk out of her office feeling so much better.
Dr. Paulo offers appointments of 30 minutes or more. Soon after seeing her the first few times, I felt the 60 minutes I chose wasn't long enough and began having 90 minute treatments. Months later when a physical medicine physician at Kaiser determined acupuncture might be appropriate, their referral system took me right to Dr. Paulo and an every other week regimen of two hours combining massage and acupuncture.
Although a somewhat less than adventuresome patient, I approached acupuncture with full confidence having Dr. Paulo as my provider. She thoroughly explains the procedure and shows you the tools she uses and her combination of the art of massage and oriental medicine through acupuncture brings treatment to a whole new level of relief. I really don't know how those painless needles work, they just do.
And to make the entire experience all the more satisfying, Dr. Paulo is a wonderful human being. Although completely professional, her friendly attitude and effervescent personality very quickly makes her your friend as well as your doctor. If you wish, she happily talks to you about family life, outside activities, etc. My entire professional and personal experience with her makes me happy to be considerably older than she since I can logically expect that experience to continue for the rest of my life! read more
