Thank goodness the carousel is open again and the main man Fernando is back with his super friendly, happy nature. My son loves to ride the unicorn but there is so many other beautifully decorated, ornate animals to chose from. This is definitely different to your regular horse only carousel. This price is still amazing at $2 per ride and they always play current songs. I'm not into 'Frozen' the movie nor is my son but if that's your thing 'Let It Go' is a popular play at the carousel. read more

Fernando and the 2 girls working with him the day of the party were ALL ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL. They were so helpful with putting up decorations, filling up balloons, interacting with the children. My group has a bucket list of carousels to go on, This was our third carousel within the last two months. The employees (2) were very nice and answered all our questions. We got the 10 rides for 30.00 and 3 rides for 10.00. plus one that was late 3.50. I loved their horses. I use to work on a carousel that had music that use to give me a headache after working 12 hours on it. This music was way better. read more

We rented the carousel for my daughter's 3rd birthday party, and it was the perfect venue for it! Fernando was amazing in helping us coordinate, and he was great with the kids. There's a nice covered area, where they set up tables for us to use, and the kids all got unlimited rides for the 2-hour duration of the party (note: the carousel was still open to the public, but at no point did that cause any issues for us). It's a great outdoor activity right on the waterfront, and I'd recommend it for parties or events if your little ones are into carousels like ours is! read more

This carousel is kind of hidden so I had no idea this was here after many visits to the area. There's an interesting variety of animals to ride including eels, seals, fish, unicorns, coyotes, etc. All kids love carousels so this was no different. We had our child's 5th birthday party at the carousel and it was awesome! We had a range of ages from babies to big kids in attendance and all of the kids had a great time. The whole experience was seamless and we appreciated the convenience of being able to order food through the operator. We found the 2 hour time frame was perfect for food, cake and plenty of rides. The carousel is our favorite place in the world! And Fernando is so much of what makes it so great. He's absolutely wonderful with kids, plays the best music, and whether the carousel is full or it's just one kid riding, he always makes it feel like a special event. We just celebrated my daughter's 4th birthday at the carousel, and we all couldn't have been happier. Fernando made planning so easy! He also hired for us two awesome women to make balloon animals and do face painting, and they were excellent. Tara, who also works there, stayed with our party the whole time to make sure all the kids had what they needed. She is the sweetest, and she did a great job. We had a big party of about 25 kids, and everything was perfect. Fernando sectioned off an area right next to the carousel and set up tables for us. It looked so nice. MOST importantly, Fernando with his fun, super-kind and gregarious manner makes the whole experience easy and thoroughly enjoyable for everyone. Aside from having a total blast riding the carousel and running around with her friends, our daughter even learned to let go of her prized balloons because the idea that a wish could come true was surely cemented by the overall atmosphere and the way in which they gracefully floated up and over the Hudson... There is no more dedicated carousel operator than Fernando at Pier 62 Carousel. He is great with the kids, so friendly and fun--and always dancing to the great music. It is a wonderful place to kill some time with the kids. Go ahead and buy the 10 pack deal because they will want to ride again and again. We love this space and take so many friends there when visiting. The animals are beautiful and more interesting than your normal horses--all NY State animals (except maybe the unicorns!). I just realized this is my second review for Pier 62 Carousel...I honestly wouldn't have been able to execute this as easily as I did without Fernando!!! He is without a doubt the most helpful, understanding, professional, gracious host!!! My daughter's 6th birthday party was amazing. He went over and beyond when we arrive a little early to set up. The 2 girls that were helping did an amazing job, especially since I had no idea how many kids were coming until the very end. No problem. Fernando and the girls took care of everything. I am pretty sure they wanted to help more than I let them, but with over 15 screaming girls, we are lucky we got out of there alive. ha ha ha...Seriously though, I would have another birthday here and I recommended the carousel and Fernando to everyone I know, because of the customer service and the professionalism. We love this beautiful carousel, and we love fernando! His smiling face is always there to greet my kids. My kids feel like this is their own private carousel. We chose this carousel as the venue for my daughter's 3rd birthday because of all the great reviews and we couldn't have been happier with the party. Fernando and his team are really the best! No request is too big. You can tell that he loves what he is doing. He was always so quick to respond to any emails I sent when booking and planning the party. He was also very attentive in setting up the tables for the party, suggesting that we set up in the back because of the shade. The two girls who helped were also terrific. I think everyone had a great time. It really is a beautiful venue right by the water with plenty of room for all of our guests. No one had to wait for a horse to ride on. Parking is close by at Chelsea Piers. My little girl's party couldn't have been more perfect. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone who loves carousels. read more

This is our favorite carousel in NYC. I've been taking my godson there for years (barring a short period when the carousel was closed). Some carousels and attractions in the city are staffed by folks who seem fairly bored. It is decidedly NOT so for this one: Fernando and staff are always enthusiastic, energetic, and they're great with kids and parents. They play kid-friendly music and really lend the place a fun atmosphere. The sea creatures (and unicorn) make this extra fun, too. Overall a winner!!! read more
