As a collector who has hunted far and wide for the pieces in my collection, I can make that statement with some degree of authority. But besides having extraordinarily beautiful jewelry to choose from, the customer service is really incredible! If you forge a relationship with one of the employees, not only will they help facilitate such important parts of sales as sizings and adjustments, but they learn your style and if you ask them to, will keep their eyes open for anything that comes into the store that you might light. This is very handy if you have particular tastes! I personally am into Bohemian garnet jewelry. I've bought several pieces from them that fall into this category for very reasonable prices and in excellent condition. The employees here are incredibly knowledgeable about jewelry and gems, which isn't necessarily something you can take for granted in many jewelry stores. The items I've purchased at Lang always appraise well above what I paid for them, and I've never had an incident like a popped stone or broken chain or setting. The store itself is tiny, but well-lit, very comfortable and pretty, and it IS WHEELCHAIR-ACCESSIBLE. Prices start well under $1K and there are many beautiful pieces under $2,500, including vintage diamond engagement rings. Lang has pieces in their collection that include some more unusual stones, such as demantoid garnets, star sapphires, and coral. When I've got the itch for a new-to-me piece of jewelry, this is always the first place I look! I definitely highly recommend Lang!

This place is so poorly managed they will never see our business again. Having recently purchased amazing items in Europe at the top antique jewelry stores in London and Paris, the contrast is in fact shocking. The banal lack of elegance of the people working here is a stark reminder to us that we will only spend our money at locally owned shops run by well mannered people. Good bye and good riddance to Lang Antiques. This is not our first negative experience with them, but it certainly is our last. Adios.

Please take everything I say here with a grain of salt, as I know how subjective judging invitation…read moredesign is. As a disclaimer, I looked for unique, bespoke invitations for months for my wedding and nothing really piqued my interest until I saw a design that Lesley and Eve had created for another client. When I inquired about using the same design, I was told that the particular design I wanted was created for a client that did not want their invitations copied. I respected that but asked for something similar. After discussing what our likes and dislikes were over the phone with Lesley, we decided to go with a bespoke, rather than an a la carte design. What this means is that we wanted a design unique to us rather than something we chose out of A Day in May's existing arsenal. We worked for a little over a month on our design. For some reason, I really felt that Lesley and Eve weren't fully invested in our design. Perhaps it's because we asked for something a lot like what another client had already produced and stymied their creativity or perhaps it's because I got my heart set on an invitation suite that they didn't feel that they could reproduce. Whatever the reason, neither I nor my now-husband were impressed with either the proofs that they sent us or, frankly, the final product. I think that what we were most disappointed by was that it seemed that for many of the ideas and design aesthetics, my husband or I had to come up with the ideas and edits instead of Lesley and Eve coming up with them. Now, as I said before, I know that design is very subjective and that we, as the clients, have to give the designers plenty of inspiration and guidance to work with, but I felt that Lesley and Eve would make our requested changes and then...nothing else. No added creative elements or other design whammies that we were hoping that they would deliver. Instead, it felt like we got the bare minimum in effort and enthusiasm. Of all the facets of my wedding planning (and believe me I know I can be a handful), I ultimately was let down the most by my invitations. I paid over $2500 for 75 invitations with reply cards--nothing else. For that price, I really expected more from these ladies and was crestfallen with the experience and the work product. I really want to say wonderful things about all my wedding vendors, but the honest truth was that A Day in May was a "miss" for us. Based on the two other glowing reviews that are on Yelp, maybe I am the outlier, but I would not recommend them. There is a lot of talent out there in the letterpress industry and I wish that I had picked someone who was less established and therefore, more enthusiastic about my wedding invitations.

The building was a printing press back in the day, so it's a bit of a maze but that's part of the charm. I've discovered some amazing local businesses. I recently went to their February artisan food fairs, and bought some delicious food products. They had a variety of food vendors: hot sauces, honey, dips, cookies, teas, and more. As for the craft fairs, respect jewelry, candles, cutting boards, and even a few food vendors. That's where I discovered Apisol, a woman-owned company based in the Peninsula that makes delicious sparkling honey beverages. Don't miss the vintage store on the first floor, which has really unique vintage products like postcards, buttons, posters, and more. I never heard of this place until a fellow Yelper brought this up to me and I said SFBox? I never heard or been in this location before and I am sure most of you never heard of this place either unless you search for history of the William Randolph Hearst printing press building so many years ago. The building was built in 1926 as a printing plant for the San Francisco Examiner. It is a nice mixed use building like a nice cozy maze to explore the nice layout and architecture of the old print shop. So upstairs about 2 floors and vendors are scattered so it's like a hunt for them, almost like a needle in haystack. Lol Well it's not that hard as you won't miss anyone. Too floor that where you will satisfy your sweet tooth . Yummy. The vendors that were there were a nice mix from tea, cheese, spices, India coffee , Turkish spreads, ice cream, giant cookies, healthy drinks, spreads, and I am sure you will find something you will enjoy. I don't normally buy stuff, but the honey , red beet, 2004 sweet land Bingdao $95 brick tea that is aged 21 years that can make 175 tea servings for $95, Il Fiorello basalmic vinegar was thick and smooth great texture and syrupy taste very captivating and Taste of Levant tahini and their chocolate jar of molasses was excellent and I had to buy them. My experience dealing with Carlos was great, and I'll definitely be a repeat customer. I've been following their website for a few months now and they consistently have interesting, affordable mid-century pieces rotating through their inventory. I think they said there are updates on the site every 10 days, but the RSS feed seems to have something new every two or three days. Since there isn't a storefront (it's run from a storage unit in Portrero Hill) this is the best way to check out what they've got on hand. I ended up going to meet Carlos at the storage unit for a pair of lounge chairs and a dresser. Normally I'm extremely hesitant to purchase furniture sight unseen, but everything I saw in person was in such impeccable condition that I regret not putting down a deposit on the dresser - by the time I showed up the next day to check it out, it had already been snagged by some lucky jerk (Carlos had told me that someone had put down a deposit on it earlier, so I knew this was probably not going to work out). Instead I had to "settle" for just the chairs, which look fantastic in my place. He even wrapped everything up in plastic wrap for me since the person who had my Zipcar truck the hour before me had apparently used it to transport their collection of dirt. Just a totally satisfied experience overall.
