In my google search a comment on a Nashville Tattoos FB group popped up that Jake at Straight Edge Tattoo was running multiple flash sheets with part of the proceeds being donated to the Imagination Library in Dolly's honor. I had replied to the comment and asked if they were still running these not long after I got a response from Jake. I messaged him explaining we were only in town a few days and hoped to get in sometime the next day. Even though he was out of town for Redneck Rumble, he set us an appointment and came back to the shop the next day to get us in before we left! The hospitality was unmatched! I was so grateful that he was willing to do this for us. We chatted with some of the other artists that were getting ready to head to the show. The Dolly Parton flash was 1 for $80 or 2 for $100 and we both ended up getting 2. The shop was very clean and well maintained, they follow all the state guidelines for cleanness and proper paperwork. Every one in there was so inviting and hospitable. My boyfriend's co-worker did the art and I made an appointment with Josh Adams, whose Instagram I have been following for a year. Josh was really awesome. He was very nice, seemed professional, and asked me questions about my cats. He said the drawing I'd sent him was a good composition for where the tattoo was placed, my inner forearm, and nothing about the art needed to be changed. He even started small to see if I would be able to take the discomfort (I was, hooray for not being a wimp!) Not long into the tattoo, I mentioned I also in the future want to get a sleeve of Disney cats and noticed he has done Disney tattoos. He told me he has a client that comes in and gets exclusively Disney tattoos (some of which I have seen on Instagram) so he was quite comfortable. After my tattoo was done, he explained the proper care. The price was exactly what I expected. It was all a great experience for a first time tattoo and I'm looking forward to getting Disney cat tattoos from him. And maybe Haunted Mansion? I love Disney, guys. P.S. It has been a while since I originally got pierced here, and I have had so many issues. 3/5 of the piercings I got here ended up having issues that did not fully show up until later, after I had already decided not to come again because of one particularly bad experience. My helix was pierced with a butterfly back that was the wrong gauge. Because of this, it A) would not even start to heal until changing it, and B) has been very hard to find the right jewelry for since what was used isn't the right gauge for a cartilage piercing. Again, this was an issue I wasn't initially aware of. A while later I got my daith done, which was alright, but pierced with a curved barbell which I have since learned is not correct. I got my conch pierced, which was when I KNEW it was very wrong. The man who did it used a curved barbell. I ended up having to go to icon to get the jewelry changed. HIGHLY recommend them as they are very kind and professional. They told me that they had many previous issues with people getting piercings from absolute ink fixed. The people at absolute ink (specifically the men) are incredibly uncomfortable to be around too. Lilly was very nice, but that is not worth terribly pierced ears.

I appreciate how easy he is to work with and how he takes the time to make sure you are healing correctly by educating you, not just assuming you know what you are doing. I also have mad respect for the fact that he is not afraid to say let's just work on a certain area due to it being a hard area to heal or is super painful. I have had artists in the past who murdered my arms by over working them-causing me to heal horrible. Murray will be my go to guy for the rest of my tattoos. Shes incredibly kind, patient and transparent about every step of the process. She helped me navigate technical/body mechanical limitations of my vision without belittling me and was still able to ultimately deliver all the things I wanted and more. She takes design feed back to heart and makes the experience of designing your tattoo a collaborative experience. We made additions to my arm all the way up to the last session almost a year after we started, as I was better able to understand the space we had to work with and use it. Its been around 2 years since we finished my arm and I still have people that will not just compliment the work, but actively turn back around and near chase me to ask for a better look.
