While in Chomp Food Hall in Santa Fe, I came across the Picnic Cheese Shop.  It only opened in this location last summer but they have a history of catering and they know their cheeses. I told them I like cheddar (not being much of an experimenter when it comes to cheese!) and I was offered the Red Rock Bleu. It was Cheddar with veins of Bleu. Very tasty, unique, and pretty, too. It reminded me of the patterns in turquoise. I hope I can resist eating it until I put it on my charcuterie board on New Year's Eve! They also sell charcuterie boxes and plates which I plan on ordering for visits to the Santa Fe Opera next summer.   In the Food Hall is a bar so folks can order wine or cocktails and get cheese, bread, meats, etc, and have a nice relaxed time. There was lots of seating on the main level and a loft with cushioned chairs for extra seating.  Added bonus: the owners were super friendly and informative. Looking forward to coming back!

I got the most beautiful and delicious charcuterie to go! The owner is the kindest and her work is so amazing. Absolutely worth every penny!

The nicest cheesemonger ever. The selection is from all over and she knew something about each cheese.

I live in Virginia and we order everything from their website. The chili powders/pods from this…read morecompany are second to none. The website has a dated feel to it but I feel that's because they focus on the product, not the bells and whistles. We even visited the physical store in Santa Fe on a road trip. It has to be good if you're willing to drive 1800 miles to be there in person. It was almost a pilgrimage. The cherry on top? My 91-year-old Hispanic mother-in-law gets all her chilis here. If that's not a ringing endorsement, nothing is.

Chile shop carries Los Chileros and so does five and dime. Los Chileros is a very authentic New Mexican brand of chili products and seasonings, they sell to almost every major New Mexican restaurant. Five and dime uses Los Chileros chili powder for their famous frito pie. It's a very complex chili. The Chile shop's brand of chili powder is so amazing too I'm thankful I bought the 1 lb bag of spice because I made beef adovada at home with that spice and oh my gosh, it literally tastes like I'm in New Mexico and boy is it hot. Very simple store with only new Mexico's best. Kind and helpful staff, very cool store for sure. My only regret is that I didn't stock up enough. Well I guess that's incentive for me to go back to Santa Fe!!

Otherwise, service was super friendly and the place has good vibes just in general. Both inside and outside seating, plus really cute decor and lots of natural light. For food, I ordered 2 different empanadas - the Santa Fe and the Jamon y Queso - both very good. The chimichurri sauce they came with was outstanding. I wasn't that hungry so 2 was enough for me but their flights looked like a good option too. They also have salads, sandwiches, and all kinds of main dishes, so there is something for everyone.

Cafecito has been showing up on my reels and it looked like the kind of special I wanted. Just a few steps away from the Railyards, this place seems to be in its own island, in a quiet corner. The place is simple in decoration, with lots of plants, plenty of natural light, and a cozy vibe. The manager or owner greeted us. We started special the right way . Staff took a little longer than I expected to take our order (or I may have been veeeery hungry). However, our order came quite quick! The hubby ordered the Santa Fe and Carne Empanadas with lentil soup. I ordered the Gaucho to get some range. The empanadas were quite good and tasty. They were on the medium size, well packed with protein, with a nice and soft pastry. The Santa Fe had very fragrant green chiles and good seasoning on the chicken. The Carne had an amazing taste on the wagyu with a bit of spice and sweet with those peppers. The lentil soup was thick and tasty with every spoonful. The Gaucho, unfortunately, was not as successful as the empanadas. The sourdough was thinly sliced and perfectly toasted, pairing well with the butter and quince jam. The provolone and tomatoes were confusing, but they were well portioned. The eggs were fluffy and ok, nothing to die for, just well executed. The flank steak relied a lot on the chimichurri, which added great acidity, but without it, the steak did not have its own seasoning or flavor. It was satisfying, but the visuals tricked me into thinking it was going to blow my mind. Overall, this is a nice space to hang with friends for a special occasion and enjoy some tasty options. I'm interested in returning to try other things. I like when a place sparks my curiosity.
