    Humble Pot Pie
    Anh H.

Amazing pies! Be sure to get here before opening because they always sell out very quickly. I came here on a Friday morning, 15 mins before opening and there was already nine people in line. Online Order: They accept online ordering for whole pies only. Whole pies are $40 per. Pot Pies **All of their pot pies are served frozen. You will have to bake these at home. - Chicken Pot Pie 5/5: Savory with a flakey, buttery crust. Chicken was very plump and juicy. - French Onion Pot Pie 3/5: Great crust but it was way too sweet for me. Sweet Pies ($7 per slice) There sweet pies were so good! The crumble and crust on the pies were cooked perfectly. They were not overly sweet. I am not a huge sweets person, so this was perfect for me! - True Love 5/5 - Dutch Apple 5/5 - Mixed Berry 5/5

Omg! Finally tried this place up the street from my house. We got there by 10:15a (15min before opening) and were able to get our picks of slices. Pretty good for Easter weekend. Be prepared to wait and don't expect to come in and out. One day we showed up right when they opened and there was a line and 2 of the berry pies were sold out! We did try the mixed berry, which was more on the tarty side. Our favorites were salted honey pot custard, pickle's key lime, dutch apple, and chocolate cookie crumble cream! The pictures don't do them justice, the crust is flaky and the custard in the pies just make it delicious. Came for 2 straight days and have to hold ourselves back from coming back!

*** 2025 review #46 *** When in town, indulge in some fancy pies! Thanks Sarah for welcoming us. Glad we don't live nearby, else we'll have a big dent in our pockets ^_^

Went to Big Bear over the weekend, and passed by this shop. Read reviews and saw that it's a top place. I read the reviews and saw that they sell out fast. We went at 12, and luckily they still had some pies left. We tried pumpkin and chocolate cream. The pies were delicious! We went back the next day and they were only selling whole pies for the holiday, and were sold out. This place is definitely must try. You have to get there early because the pies do run out fast!

Dutch Apple and Blueberry Apple Peach

While in town with my wife for a vacation we stopped by what appeared to be a popular pie shop. We're from San Diego and we love a good fruit pie, especially from Julian. We got Dutch Apple and Blueberry Apple Peach. The edge of the pie crust had (in my opinion) this strudel-like consistency which I loved and the fruits were very good (not too sour and not too ripe). We were bummed that they were out of the chicken pot pie which appeared to be popular but just another reason to come back next time! Thanks guys

Caramel pumpkin pie was wonderful. The crust was buttery and magnificent.

Do you like pies? Do you like lines? Well, if you answered "yes" to both questions, Pickles is definitely for you. And even if you don't like lines, if you like pies from Pickles, well, get ready to stand in line. No pickle pies here, fortunately or unfortunately, but these are some extraordinary pies, both sweet and savory. Need to know: call a day ahead and pick up your pies the following day. These guys sell out their pies. At least 20 or 30 people--all of whom stood in line for an hour or so--were turned away BY NOON on the day of our visit because they had not ordered ahead. So use that device in your hand for what it was born to do: call a day ahead or be prepared to be very disappointed. Also: whether you called ahead or not, you must stand in the crazy long line that extends into the parking lot. Walk-ins and those who ordered ahead all stand in the same line. That's the way it goes, folks. We tried the caramel pumpkin pie and it was spiced perfectly and not too sweet. The crust looked hard and boring but it was delectable. This was a very, very good pie. We also tried the chicken pot pie and the Humble (French onion soup) pie. Both had an amazing crust. They were both fantastic. The Humble one is very unique and tastes just like French onion soup. They are also very large and shareable. These pies are pricey and you must stand in a long line to get them. And they are absolutely worth the price and the effort. Delicious.

ARRIVE EARLY if you want pie! I stopped by the shop at noon on a Saturday, only 1.5 hours after Pickles opened at 10:30am, and there were only 2 pieces of pie left! Luckily the couple in front of me only ordered one, so I was able to get the last piece of the day. Bourbon Pear would not have been my top choice, but it was amazing! The bourbon flavor shined through without being overbearing, and the pears were the perfect compliment. This may be my go-to flavor now! The interior is much smaller than appears on the outside, it's just a narrow hallway that leads to a cabinet of pies and an ordering counter.

I would highly recommend going here! I came at open and got the Dutch apple, farmers basket, and the Cherry apple Pie. I really enjoyed all of the pie, the flavors were great and it was nice knowing that everything was fresh. The store is a bit small and the line can be a bit longer as they only have 2 workers at the store, but I must say it is worth it. Parking can be a bit tough to find and I saw people park in all sorts of ways but it is definitely doable. I think a lot of people do pre-order but I did not research how. I think they do have a facebook page where you can see their pies for the next day, which is how I know right away what I wanted. They do sell out quite quickly so if you get there, they might not have all the pies that you want. The store's ambiance itself was quite nice too. It was small and there was a large menu on the left that is updated constantly. Overall, I would highly recommend coming here!

My gosh the pies here are on another level. We got 4 slices of pies: dutch apple, mixed berry, old fashioned pecan, pistachio macadamia pecan and 2 chicken pot pies. The mixed berry was my favorite with blue berries that held their texture and a jam that was perfectly gooey. Surprisingly they weren't too sweet or heavy, easily devoured a slice. The crust was scrumptiously savory. As for the pot pies, 90 minute cook time in the oven but the vegetables were a perfect texture. Would get both again. Service was friendly, interior was cute and quaint. We came on Wednesday 15 minutes before opening and there was only 1 person there (though they did take the last of two pies, bummer! Not sure if there's less quantity on Wednesday) and 4-5 parties after we left.

So we visited Big Bear Lake, and I was in the mood for pie--probably inspired by the musical Waitress I'd just seen. I planned to settle for any pie, but my wife searched Yelp for gourmet pies, and we found Pickles Pie Shop. My wife insisted we arrive early because the reviews warned they run out fast. They weren't kidding. We reached 30 minutes after opening to a long line. After about 20 minutes outside, we went in and waited another 5-10 minutes. The whole time I kept thinking: is this worth it? The answer, overwhelmingly, was yes. We bought four slices: bourbon pear, dark velvet, caramel pumpkin, and pistachio macadamia nut pecan. All were delicious, but my favorites were the bourbon pear and the pistachio macadamia. It's refreshing to try new flavors, and this occasion reminded me of the gifted baker from Waitress.

Inside of the chicken pot pie. Delicious!

Got there about 30 mins before opening and waited in line. Items were being removed from the menu as we were getting closer to ordering. That's how limited some of the options are as we were maybe 10 groups back. The savory pies are frozen and probably one of the best chicken pot pies I've had. Full of flavor, fresh ingredients, great quality. You can definitely taste the dill. One savory pie could be enough for 2 people/meals. The sweet pies were delicious too! Ordered the "oh bother". Some sweet pies are offered by the slice only. I recommend ordering the day before and picking up the next day if you have time. The person in line behind me did that. It's a very clean space with cute decor. They've designed the space so you just walk in, order, and walk out. There's no dining inside. Extremely friendly team running PPS.

They post the pies available the next day on Facebook every day and I was able to contact them the day before and let them know which pies I wanted. I showed up in the morning and was able to get the pies I wanted. When I got to try them later they were amazing. The True Love Pie may be the best pie I've ever had in my life. We will definitely return again and again for more pies.

    Dark Velvet
    Tiffany T.

Best dessert shop in Big Bear and potentially in SoCal! Get in line before they open for best chances to get the flavors you want. They only open a few hours a few days a week so you won't want to miss your chance by arriving too late. We arrived Sunday 20min after opening and quite a few flavors were sold out or only selling by the slice by the time we got to the cashier. We tried the honey custard, dark velvet, and pistachio pies by slice -- all were fantastic but the dark velvet was a knockout!! I would get a whole pie order of that. The honey custard had a pumpkin pie like consistency and I loved the flaky salt on top that enhanced the flavors. We enjoyed it with whiskey which paired really well. Also got their savory pot pie which is their take on a french onion soup in pie form. The flavor was great albeit a tad salty for my taste. They sell it frozen and you bake it for 1.5h until golden brown and bubbling at the sides.

    Line at 10:30am.

Perhaps Lumberjack didn't have then manpower or it was too cold to service. I don't recall seeing patio heaters. It was sunny out and in the mid 40s. We dined towards the end of the rush. By the time food was dropped off, several tables were empty. Food is good. Price is high for some items though it isn't a surprise, being expensive to trucking up goods. My husband ordered a single buttermilk pancake and I had the Little Joe (one egg with two bacon strips and Logger potatoes (yum!)) plus a sourdough pancake. I'm a fan of the sourdough. My husband... not so much. He said it was good but prefers buttermilk. One friend ordered the breakfast burrito; said it was massive but cumbersome to hold requiring fork and knife. Another ordered the Complete Family Breakfast which is definitely a deal. It was a lot of food especially with the pancakes almost as big as the plate. Everyone at the table enjoyed their meals. The kids cleaned their plates. There are two single restrooms though it seemed like only one was available at the time. Parking lot holds maybe10 vehicles plus one handicap spot. Be careful exiting the lot if parked along Big Bear Blvd. There was an accident in front by where we parked. Not sure if there is parking on the side streets. We circled a bit waiting for cars to leave the parking lot.
