My Experience with Rogue Cheer Athletics and Owner Becky Abbott…read more I wanted to share my personal experience so that other parents can make informed decisions before enrolling their children at Rogue Cheer Athletics. Long story short, my daughter chose not to participate in cheer this season due to several instances of condescending and inappropriate behavior from the owner, Becky Abbott. Some of these interactions took place directly with me through text and others face-to-face with my 11-year-old daughter, which I found completely inappropriate. When I, as the parent, requested a meeting to address my concerns, Becky told me, "That's not how this works. Period." After that, I asked for a refund and informed her that we would no longer be part of Rogue Cheer. She refused and claimed I was bound by a contract from the previous year, which was not valid for the current season. After multiple back-and-forth conversations, she initially agreed to refund only $250 of the $2,500 owed, then raised it to $500, then $800, calling it "half", which it clearly was not. I declined those offers and asked for a full refund. She then proposed to repay $2,500 in $100 monthly installments over 25 months, which I also declined. While I was still responding to her message, she sent me $100 via Venmo without agreement and then stopped communicating. When no further payments came in, I was forced to file a small-claims case. At court, the judge ruled in my favor, stating that her business practices were not legal, that her contract was invalid, and that she needed to get her business practices in order before continuing to operate. He emphasized that she was stealing, and what she was doing was considered theft. He even pointed out that her website emphasizes "doing the godly and right thing," which he reminded her she had failed to uphold. Following the ruling, I sent her a formal demand for payment, generously allowing 30 days to comply. On the final night of that deadline, she sent the full payment, only after being contacted again. I'm sharing this so that other families are aware before committing to Rogue Cheer Athletics. There are other cheer programs in the Rogue Valley that operate with integrity, transparency, and respect, I strongly recommend exploring those instead. It's also worth noting that Becky Abbott is currently under investigation by the Oregon Department of Justice, which anyone can verify through public record. If Becky Abbott (Rogue Cheer Athletics) owes you money, I strongly urge you to file a small claims case. She shouldn't be able to do this to people.

Sadly, Becky was put into a place she did not deserve and has fought to clear her name since. I've looked at the previous coaches who've now formed a new gyms "proof" and most seem superficial. There was one case due to contract that was legit. Rogue got the short end of the stick, pure and simple but I see them rising above.

Rogue Combat Academy - My one class visit- they let me take a picture. :D Super nice, hard working bunch of guys. Respectful too.

These guys are solid! I was passing through from Washington,…read moregoing home to the San Francisco bay area where I train in Kyokushin. I've found that MMA gyms tend to be more in line with the training we get in Kyokushin than most traditional martial arts schools of other styles here in the USA, because they train hard and fight full contact. While I didn't get a chance to spar these guys, the padwork was excellent, and then there was a bunch of MMA-related balance ball stuff that kicked my butt! I went for the Muay Thai and MMA class, and I was glad I showed up. Everyone was super nice. I was the only woman there, but I didn't feel unwelcome, nor did I feel coddled. I have a lot of physical disabilities (being female isn't one of them) and the coach accepted when I said I wasn't able to do an activity safely, but he also gave me something else to do, which I appreciated. All of the students were polite, friendly, down to earth, and fun to train with. Super nice guys. They don't put on airs and there isn't a bunch of bowing and standing in certain position type protocol, but don't get the idea that they are thugs because of that. MMA people are just as chill as TMA people. Actually, they're kind of MORE chill than a lot of TMA people. The gym is huge and very well outfitted. There are a couple mat rooms, there's a room with heavy bags, there's a boxing ring, and there's a cage. Lots of striking pads, focus mitts, gloves, shin guards, etc etc. The place seems clean. There are a lot of different classes, and they are very welcoming to new people. Check them out. I'm glad I did, and I wish I had more than one day here so I could go back!

Seemed to be super popular with elementary level kiddos. It's just hard to stomach the price tag taxpayers paid while still paying entry to a mediocre, modern facility. Would've been great if it were more along the lines of Wings and Waves in McMinnville- 4 huge slides, big wave pool AND play structure, whirlpool etc. (something for all ages there). Either way it is what it is since they filled in Hawthorne pool and shut down Jackson pool (both of which had awesome diving boards at least, lol). Just kinda MEH here...

It also has several party and meeting rooms The other half has two (2) massive swimming pools. The recreation pool has two water slides and a lazy river I enjoy going to the 13 lane Olympic lap pool My insurance pays for a membership for me to try to keep in shape so instead of me going to a gym I got a monthly senior pass to Rogue X and the insurance company pays for it. I can use the facility almost every day of the year but My goal is twice a week. There is plenty of free parking and the locker rooms/ restrooms are spacious and exceptionally clean. Prices vary depending on where you live your age and if you get a family or individual pass. This is a wonderful addition to the Rogue Valley Southern Oregon area
