And I like the prefix menu concept. The meal started with a cold soup, which was delicious. Then there was a mushroom gnocchi; the sauce/flavor was delicious though the gnocchi were a little chewy. The bread they bought to the table was terrible. There were two different kinds and both were tough and flavorless. For my first course, I had a salad, which was fine though unremarkable. My main course was the fluke. It was described as golden crusted fluke, and I was disappointed when it arrived fried. It was served on top of some vegetables, including some very vinegar potatoes. There was a lingonberry sauce on top, which was excellent, but everything else was not very good. I was pretty disappointed. My fish was dry and a tad fishy tasting. I also tasted the pork belly, which was good and the wagyu which I thought was just OK. I got to taste all of the desserts. There were some interesting flavors such as the strawberry rhubarb, but some really odd textures like the cake in that dessert. The chocolate dessert was OK. Would I go back? Sure. It's so stunningly beautiful. I would ask more questions as I ordered about exactly how the food was going to be prepared, and I would lower my expectations for the food.

Elise is just a wonderful person and made the trip special. She makes a breakfast out of this world and the inn has some great animal life. A few bobcats and she has nursed some wildlife back to health. Walk to the rural more private beach is less than ten minutes. We will most certainly be back!

Aquinnah is far from the other towns (30 min drive) so plan accordingly. The liquor stores do deliver with enough advance notice, and there are a few restaurants not so far away, but you are out in the country. Love sitting in the hot tub at night watching the stars. This is an old house so you might hear noise from other rooms or when breakfast gets going, but I travel with earplugs & a mask so not a thing for me. Elise is welcoming & has tips for everything you can think of. Free wifi, amazing water & sunset views (except from the downstairs stone-wall room) and blissful calm. There is no AC but mostly it's not needed, and mini fridges in many rooms, bring a small cooler for a day at the beach, a beach towel, good walking shoes, and de-com-press.

Unfortunately, most days we were there it was foggy, but beautiful nonetheless. We visited off season. She gave us ideas on things we can do, since we took our car on the ferry over to the island. There are no elevators , so be prepared to get some great exercise if your lucky enough that access the third floor. The property is very well maintained. Great location too. Very central access to waking Edgartown - and easy access to the many island highlights. Side note : Being a huge fan of JAWS, I was so delighted to determine this property was shooting location along Water street it was shown in the scene where Brody walked to the hardware store across from the bike store which now houses a great coffee shop. No wifi when promised there was as well. We asked if we could cancel, as we booked it yesterday over the phone (you can't book online) and they never said anything about a canceling policy, and the lady said no. Once we said all the issues with the room she said, "come on it's just one night"... like what?!? We paid 250 bucks to suffer through a night?!? We left with 0 refund and was told to pay extra if we wanted a safer more private room...
