I called Pick Up Pals after seeing their billboard on the interstate. I had an unusual, one-off kind of request; I wanted a bike rack installed in the bed of my truck. They looked it over, gave me a price, and scheduled a day for me to leave the truck with them. They finished on-time and charged me less than they quoted because the job turned out to be easier than expected. What a joke Called all around town for a price on air bags for a 2018 F250 and these guys made it like rocket science lol every other place gave me a price in 20 seconds and these guys never even could figure it out they even said I didn't know my truck bc it said the rear had coil springs lol f250 doesn't have rear coil springs Wow read more

The guys at P/U Pals absolutely saved my bacon. Situation: family road trip with a newly installed camper shell (by myself). A freezing rain begins at 8am and does not stop. The leaking camper shell is soaking all of our gear and luggage. We pull into the parking lot of P/U Pals. With my best Tiny Tim impression I plead for help. The boys at P/U Pals take pity and help out on the double. They fix my leaky camper and right quick- saving the family vacation! I couldn't thank them enough but wanted to write them a nice review. For over 40 years Pick-Up Pals has been providing top quality truck equipment and accessories in West Texas and beyond!

History

Established in 1982.

Purchased by the Forman family in the summer of 1982, Pick-Up Pals, Inc. has now been around for over forty years. We started as a small retail truck accessory store in a two-stall filling station on the corner of Broadway and Avenue Q and quick growth allowed us the opportunity to move our store to what is now our current main customer service location—6810 Wayne Avenue. Howell Forman, Jr. and his son Trip’s decision to purchase this small accessory store has led us to becoming the one of the largest wholesale and truck accessory stores in West Texas. In the early 1990s, Pick-Up Pals, Inc. partnered with Weather Guard and Knapheide and began offering work truck product lines. After his father’s retirement, Trip took over the business in its entirety and finally accomplished his lifelong goal of custom manufacturing. In 2005, Pick-Up Pals, Inc. began engineering our own line of custom Pup truck beds—allowing our business and its customer base to grow exponentially.

Auto zone quickly came out and tested the battery, which came up with ok levels but we knew it was better to go ahead and replace it. Brandon mumbled something and went back inside, leaving us confused. We went inside and he was at the register, simply calling "Next customer". After some more mumbling and me having to ask him to repeat and clarify what he was saying, we got the new battery purchased and he brought it out on the cart with his needed tools. Despite Brandon's apparent shyness or whatever it is, I do have to commend him for taking the time to get the battery swapped out, cleaning out the bay before putting in the new battery and throughly cleaning the posts and cable connectors, along with some anti-corrosive spray. The car started right up, and my SiL was of course relieved and far less stressed. I made sure to thank Brandon when he finished and shake his hand, because he did a great job and helped my SiL finish her trip on a positive note and with peace of mind.

For someone who is looking to get car maintenance done. You might want to choose a shop with a management team that isn't as bratty and stuck up. If you want to go to a toxic shop that dosen't treat their employees right, nor their customers over half the time then you're in the right place. I have had my vehicle serviced by Mavis in the past thanks to Chasin and Mitch. They made the experience smooth and easy they are not the reason for the 2 star review. AGAIN THE WORKERS ARE NOT THE REASON FOR THE BAD REVIEW. I have read so many reviews that are hidden in their multitude of them but they are all stating the same or similar thing. Yes some of their mechanics don't give a f because they aren't valued some actually do care. They are taught "policy" when a real mechanic would know how to keep a car safe. I have seen and heard first hand of the attitude from the "managers" of this business. Word of advice if your turn over rate is high look at your managers that seem to have such a big stick up their A. Edit.1- We have been trying to find corporates number but haven't had any success. If someone at corporate would talk with me I'd love to talk with them. There is a bigger matter at hand which I would love to discuss. My fiancé worked at Mavis from Feb 2026 to May of 2026. He would have still been there and not quit if due to Alex telling my fiancé that our miscarriage wasn't a valid reason for taking off work that day. We provided valid documentation to him which still didn't matter. I was a higher risk and ended up hemorrhaging and having to call 911 for borderline shock in which I almost died if he wasn't with me. As a company, there is a professional way to handle matters like this. One of them, not being that it isn't a valid reason. Alex is not a good manager and does not value his employees. They are narcissistic and manipulative towards everyone beneath them. They will say something completely uncalled for and then when you bring it to their attention they will (what's referred to in romantic relationships as) "love bombing". Even after hearing the conversations with Alex personally and my husband, and the google reviews you see when searching his name... I have come to an understanding of who he is as a person and none of those qualities qualify him as a manager. We had been in communication with him and provided the pictures (attached to this review). If Mavis has past employment information, please contact my fiancé Tristan LaFuze. Otherwise comment with corporates number and we will be in contact. This is unacceptable as an employer and it should be handled appropriately.

Yes, minor scratches that Collision Center caused were buffed out. The major deep scratches on my door that CC caused were not buffed out because the shop scratched too deep. I went by a few body shops for estimates and was rushed through. They seemed to not care if i did business there or not. I stopped by Collision Center of Lubbock and one of the adjusters there did a very accurate detailed description of the work they would perform. She printed out the estimate and walked me through the whole process. At that point i was so impressed that i told her to order the parts and move ahead with the repair. My truck was there about three weeks. It took a lot of work to take off the box and do it back to factory specifications. The GM (Daniel) and owner (Lowell) both made sure that the truck was to my 100% satisfaction. When i picked it up it looked better than off the showroom floor. These are fine people that did me right.
