A Saturday afternoon craft beer mission to Leamington Wines gave the perfect opportunity to take a peek inside this independent pub. These days it's become pretty commonplace for pubs to serve cocktails, and there's a lot of lip-service going on with unimaginative samey-semeness to most place's menus that makes you wonder why they bother. The Clarendon is a different beast with a 'Drinks Trilogy' of fine spirit-based drinks. First up are fruity jam jar cocktails including the Pomegranate Paloma. Then there's a choice of seven different rum punches, with Jackie Brown at the head of the list. Completing the menu are The Seven Deadly Gins: Gin cocktails including Greed: William Chase Seville Orange Gin, Fever Tree Tonic and a dash of chocolate bitters. Happy Hour prices every day from 5pm-7pm makes these drinks just £4 each. Ales and porters are some of the quality beers on offer. The surroundings are special too. Cartoon art prints of song lyric scenes adorn the walls in this naturally well-lit pub. Come the evening there are regular acoustic and jam night, while weekends boast funk and soul nights presented by nearby Birminghammer Sam Redmore. With the sun streaming through the windows, this has to be the best place in Leamington to while away a weekend afternoon.

They're on the winter menu at the moment, so the food tends to be on the warming side (which is a good thing in winter!). Had the tomato soup the other night; freshly pureed tomato with a hint of basil, and crusty bread on the side - delicious. They also make a distinction between chips and fries, which is great. I happen to prefer fries to chips, so being able to have fries with my lasagne is fantastic.

Came here as a party of 7 for a friend's birthday and it was really good time out! This…read morerestaurant's Happy Hour 2 for 1 cocktails made the drinks especially affordable and that helped get the celebrations off to a delicious (if also slightly boozy) start. Apparently this is a chain of Restaurants serving Caribbean style of food and so of course I had to get the Goat Curry for my main! This dish was super delicious, with great peppery heat. Special shout-out for the especially fantastic coconut rice and peas - honestly next time I'm going to order an extra side of just their coconut rice and peas alone, cause the taste was so good!! My main was served in this cute big round bowl, and since it was a good amount, half of the dish ended up coming back home with me in a doggy bag. The Goat Curry dish also came with a sweet plantain and excellent dumplings (x2 pieces) - all of this great tasting food for only £10.50 is an absolute bargain! I also tried the Trini Chicken Curry which was another winner. The chicken was beautifully tender & had a lovely distinctive spice taste. This dish also came with 3 pieces of Roti and rice +peas. I also really liked the Doubles which we got as an entree at the table. This dish had two pieces of well cooked roti flatbreads, and a generous amount of the curried chickpeas as well as a great tangy cucumber chutney. For £5.30, this dish was hearty and delicious and if you just want a light nibble, I would totally recommend getting this dish. However it's not a 5-stars because some of the other dishes I had were not so successful for me, taste wise. For the starters, we'd also ordered the Crispy Okra (£5.30); the Crispy Whitebread (£5.30); and the Crispy Chickpeas (£3). All of these dishes were okay, but the spice notes for me were off - so for example, the okra's mango and jerk mayo were an unnecessary taste distraction for me, and in fact made the okra less crispy. The Whitebread was super oily & the chickpeas were spiced underwhelmingly. I wouldn't get any of these starters again. On the whole tho' overall food was great as was service so I'm keen to come back and try more things on their menu. Yelp 173/ 2019

A deceptively large pub on the Parade - you step inside and the place just extends on and on! On this occasion I stopped in with my sister and her husband, and we had a relaxed after-dinner drink on the comfy sofa seating. But the rest of the place was a real mix of everything from groups of younger guys in the bar area blatantly pre-drinking for a big night out, to a middle-aged couple having cosy drinks on the high chair seating. There are also proper tables and chairs set out towards the back as they serve food during the day. There's a nice cosy feel to the place though nothing particularly special about the decor. My bro in law ended up sipping his beer for quite a while without company as my sister and I had ordered cocktails which took an aaage to make. The barman had given me a look of fear that implied he'd never been asked to make one before, so whether he had to take a few attempts or get someone else to do it I'm not sure! Anyway, my sister's rec of the 'Solero' was good when it eventually came, tasting a lot like the ice cream which I love (only with rum!) though I managed to give myself mild brainfreeze after getting a bit overenthusiastic :-$ It probably wasn't helped by the draft from the fire exit door being wedged open right opposite the sofa area to let the smokers in and out - I had wondered why no one else had nabbed the sofa space before us!
