Truly a mom and pop restaurant. The service is amazing and this is some of the best food we've had on our Germany vacation. So good we came twice! On Tuesdays they serve lasagna and we witnessed it sell out super fast. Ambiance is very cozy and inviting, they have seating outside and in their garden for bigger groups. This was a quaint little place off the road in a nice wooden cabin. The owners were very nice and let me practice my broken Italian with them. I ordered the lasagna and the five layers of Italian goodness killed the craving I was having. I finished the meal with pannacotta with a strawberry sauce. My favorite meal in Oberammergau, bar none. Piccola Toscana is a tiny place, with just two tables (about 6-8 each at most), plus a bar with another 6-8 seats. If you've got a group or want to eat on a weekend, definitely make a reservation first! The staff is minimal, just a husband running the front of the house and his wife cooking, and they are extremely friendly (and speak English, German, and Italian). With such a small place, the menu was actually pretty robust. They were getting ready to change the menu a little bit, but when I visited they had four types of tagliere, five types of spaghetti, and some bruschetta on the regular menu. They also had another half-dozen or so options on the seasonal menu, and a daily special or two. The lasagna (a daily special) was fantastic, rich and cheesy and flavorful, but my personal favorite was the traditional Carbonara Italiana (they also have the German version with cream sauce), which was the best carbonara I've had in years. No cream sauce, no canned/bagged sauce, just pasta, guanciale, black pepper, raw egg yolk, and some hard cheese. All in all, damn near perfect as far as I'm concerned, and if I'm in Oberammergau again, this would be on my must-visit list for dinner. read more

By far the best meal we've had in Oberammergau and Munich. We had the best lasagna I've ever eaten ( arrive early, there is a limited amount ). The mixed green salad was so fresh. Two desserts, both homemade and so excellent. Tiramisu and pear ricotta tart. So creamy and delicious. The restaurant is very small and the couple that own it do everything themselves. Quaint small restaurant with wonderful owners. We wanted lasagna but sadly they only make it occasionally. We ordered spaghetti (basil and bolognese)and sadly it tasted like canned tomato sauce. Very good italian food. If you want pizza you have to look For another restaurant they don't have it. What do they have? Very good en tastefull italian food. Pasta , bruchetta salads . Is is a very friendly italian couple who own and run it. The menu is in German only but they understand english. (The lady does 't speak german the man does) The food was excellent. We started with a great caprese salad with real good balsamico. i Had spaghetti Bolognese and my husband spaghetti cabonara. I'm not Italian, but my American palate in Germany thought this was amazing. The carbonara was impressively tasty. The owners (Italian couple) who also fill in as chef and servers were so helpful and friendly. They don't have an English menu yet, but they explained each dish to me.
