If you want to wait 30+ minutes for someone to acknowledge you and take a drink order, this place is it.

“This is an EXCEPTIONAL bar, a REAL bar where the focus is on drinks made with top shelf alcohol, and some of the best service I've ever had at a busy bar.”

We were back in Canton on our way home from the scary, deep south, and I have to admit it feels…read moredownright civilized! It helps that we stopped by Jose's. I haven't been there in years, and they have made a lot of improvements. The outside area, looking toward the lake, is great this time of year. There was a breeze, and I just love the new (to me?) bistro lights. I was a tiny bit sad to find the pinball machine AWOL, but then I promptly forgot after (downing too many Chilled Fireballs and) discovering the super fancy iTunes jukebox. That kept me AND the hubby entertained, which is no small feat. You see, he likes country (which makes little sense given he's foreign and has only lived in the north), and I like to get crunk. Anyway, we both found lots to like, and no one even seemed to notice how incompatible our tastes are. Long story short. This was a great night out for me and the hubs. We got a break from the kids, we didn't blow a ton of cash, and we were only a *little* buzzed when we woke up the next morning. (Next time I'm sticking to three drinks!)

Another reason I stopped using "check-in". We stopped here six months ago and I hadn't intended to…read morewrite about it. This morning I received the prompt telling me to share my experiences. Oy Vey. As I recall we were at Jose's on a Thursday night and they had a pretty fun karaoke. I can tell you there were mostly younger folks but a couple that were almost our age. I believe we had trouble finding their signage in the dark and parked in a little area in the back. A bit spooky but ended up safe in the long run. The bartender was really cool and fast like the wind. Not sure what we talked about, but was definitely good folks. No food that I remember; if there was, we didn't order any. I think someone brought in a small pizza. So, you can do that. It's definitely a drive, but a solid comfortable one with a pretty good view of the lake, but it was dark out.

So let me preface this as we liked the restaurant. The food was good with two glaring problems…read more The good: My partner liked his burger, said it was juicy and tasted good. The stuffed mushrooms were excellent, it was the best dish we got. Fish was fried a bit hard but still tasted good. The Raspberry Mojito was decent, the mint added didn't add anything but didn't take anything away. The service was fine, nothing amazing but nothing bad. It was dead when we went just some people at the bar and some golf bros that came in as we were leaving. The bad: Please offer bottled water, that tap water tastes straight from the lake. If it is bottle water it's the cheapest water I've tasted. Good thing I ordered lemon with it. The fries, there was so much salt that they burned to eat. Whoever was so heavy handed with the salt needs to scale it back a bit or offer the fries by default without salt. They had a good taste but it was lost to extreme sodium. The inside was clean, like I said it was dead so it was organized. The bathroom floor was sticky but it's not the worst bathroom I've been in. We might come back, we really enjoyed the mushrooms but I got my entire sodium allowance with just a couple of the fries. We barely ate the fries, yet we're not comped them as we stated they were bad. They removed the soda I had to ask for to get the salt out of my mouth because that water tasted so bad. Both plates of fries went back after the complaint and we still had to pay for them.

The wrap had large perfectly cooked shrimp and Cole slaw. The fries were good but a little…read moreundercooked. The happy hour (2-5 pm) beers are a good deal and I had a lemon Summer Shandy ($4). The service was very good and atmosphere good. I plan to return.

This place was super neat! I could stay here all night just for an interesting place to lounge…read moreabout and enjoy the sight on an otherwise boring night. The theme is purples, neon greens, all on a dark setting. Awesome atmosphere. And the art! Wow! So much skilled artwork displayed in this place. Each bar stool had a different artistic piece on it's seat. The walls had art, the food itself.... also art! They have been open three years. And the food of course is EXCELLENT. They have a lot of home brewed stuff in their menu, but also the classics like steak, wings, and rather normal bar food. But then they got the better stuff like calamari, unique sandwiches, and awesome sausage! I can confidently recommend their steak to any steak lover. So soft, slight taste of smokey charcoal, and loaded with juicy flavor. And prices were very fair! I also recommend their calamari and chili. Careful, a lot of their items can be on the spicy side! This is the first place I would go to entertain my out of town friends visiting Canton! Great food, great prices, great service, great atmosphere! What else could you want? Will be visiting again, especially during an entertainment night!
