I was given an older upright Wurlitzer piano and, after I paid to move it to my house, I discovered…read morethat it was not in good working order. Keys would play once and then not again because the hammers were not properly returning and of course it was out of tune after standing unused for a long time and then being moved. The piano moving company recommended someone to repair and tune it. He arrived and almost immediately told me I would have to replace almost all the inside workings at a cost of more than $500, possibly a lot more. I decided against the repair as it could easily have cost more than the value of the piano. I waited several months and decided to bring in someone for a second opinion, which is when I found Randy Prentice. After looking it over, he told me I likely did not need to replace anything, and it was hopefully just in need of lubricating. After about two and a half hours of intensive work and tuning, the piano has recovered nicely. It is playable and in tune again, and got there with a very fair price (nowhere near the $500+ I was quoted previously). I highly recommend Randy's services!

Isaac does a wonderful job, and I look forward to how good it sounds after his visit. It's also nice to have a younger piano tuner and knowing he will outlast me :-P Also organised, punctual, can pay online etc. Highly recommended.

I recently retrieved a family heirloom--a Steinway parlor grand piano that was being stored and…read moreused at a friend's house. I want to be sure to keep this piano is good shape, since it's been in my family for generations. I know that it needed a new humidifying system. Isaac was clear in his email communication and clear in explaining how the new system works, and some important pointers about the piano. I appreciate the education! Then, in a confident manner, he removed the old system and installed the new one. Now, I'll wait about 3 weeks for the piano to acclimate to the new system and will invite him back to tune it. I am confident that the sound will be sweeter when he is done with it!

James and Craig were on time, organized, professional, and personable. They were both extremely knowledgeable about everything piano-related. They knew exactly how to move a grand piano. They identified instantly that it was out of tune. They were knowledgeable about the maker of the piano and the paper trail that accompanies this piano. They even took a bit of their own time to visit pleasantly with my 88-year old mother, who was present at the time of the move. She adores them! :) I will certainly go through JP Lawson for the tune up and everything afterwards! Thank you James! Thank you Craig! You guys ROCK!!!! Gioia

Arriving home, I found the slide to be WORSE than when it had been left there. It also seems that none or very little of the promised work was completed. After hiring a specialized brass craftsperson to do the job, the trombone looks and feels incredible. I emailed IMC on May 21 after having it inspected by the new repair person and learning how badly the store had performed. Nearly every item requested at check-in was not done, including replacement of the old, deteriorated cork barrel slide damper.

I brought in a high end acoustic guitar for a simple pickup installation. I called first and was…read moretold they might be able to get it done the same day or maybe the next. I arrived within an hour of my call and learned that it would be a few days since it was a Friday and they are closed Sunday. (Not bad really but I needed it was told it was probable) I was told I could pay an upcharge for "express service" and agreed. I picked up the guitar the next day. When I got home I discovered the soundhole mounted control panel with Volume and tone controls was mounted so far to the rear that my index finger was wedged between the low E string and the tone knob in order to turn the thumbwheel. I was not told or informed whether there may be an issue with placement due to bracing. I would understand I that's the case but I should have been informed or asked about it. This makes using the tone knob impractical. The express service upcharge was essentially a waste of money because I had to drive back and leave the guitar. This time a couple more days. Chuck said they were short staffed maybe they could get it the next day. It's mounted with Double sided sticky tape and/or velcro. How long could it take? Two days later with no contact I just drove back and picked up the guitar and I'll get it fixed elsewhere. I have gigs I need to play and that's what I got this guitar for. I gig professionally and did 145 shows last year. Again, Chuck said they were short staffed but my experience is delivery time to fix an issue became a moving targett. I understand things happen but this was not a good first experience with the shop. I probably won't go back. Their charges are also higher than what other shops charge in town b based on my 30 years of gigging in Tucson. Overall this is not a huge deal but my first experience with this shop including 'express service' was not good.

One was a CF Mountain W400D that was messed up in a flood and dried out the other was a Martin D41 that was dried out from being in storage for a long duration of time. Gordon had them for a couple of weeks as he had to re-hydrate both Guitars. Both Guitars also had issues with cracks on the top where the seam was. The Mountain had a warped top and the Martin had the back binding separate from the back of the Guitar. The time to me was no great deal as I did not need them immediately and I wanted them repaired correctly. Gordon performed an AWESOME Repair on both Guitars and what looked horrible and would not play before, Look, Play and Sound Great. I highly recommend Gordon Groves for his Excellence in Guitar Repair.
