I was fearful about the cost but I was somewhat encouraged because the front desk staff reviewed my insurance and OOP costs and told me they are always transparent about their fees. I made sure to ask about OOP costs since I am on a budget. Again, they assured me all I owed is the copay, due at every appointment. After months of infective treatment I did indeed get a surprise bill for $700! I was told that they made a mistake when verifying my benefits. I told them I had the paper stating I didn't owe anything OOP. I was told they would not waive the fees or meet me in the middle even though the error was not mine. I would have NEVER agreed to the treatment plan if they were indeed upfront about my cost - I don't have an extra $700 in my budget.

They tell me information that I've already researched on the Mayo Clinic and the Harvard Medical apps, and I have no idea where they get their information. But at the very least, I can get a prescription for an antibiotic or something for itching or a stye in my eye or that kind of thing there when I can't get in to see my doctor for days or weeks.
