The first month lived up to the painful expectations and then I was referred for physical therapy. My hopes weren't high. I had been through physical therapy in the past for other surgeries/injuries and didn't feel that I had achieved much in the way of benefit from from the experiences. This was totally different. From the first day, I felt as if I had partners in my journey who could explain what I was feeling and offer suggestions or reassurance that things were on track. Michael was my PT and I wouldn't trade that for anything - though I saw the care others in the same boat were provided by Steve and I expect that they would feel the same. The staff there are attentive, professional and friendly. They make sure you are doing the exercises correctly to achieve the best results (yes, Jesus, I mean you) they push you but not to the point of pain or injury and they pull in the reins when you are pushing yourself too fast (yes Michael I mean you). Saturday will be 3 months since my surgery. I feel I am almost recovered with the occasional twinge of a reminder. I am 6 months ahead of where I thought I would be at this point and I attribute this not only to my great surgeon, Dr Le but to a great extent to the team at Medcalf and Schommer. Thank you!!!

I scheduled my appointment…read morevia a phone call from the reception office, received a text message to confirm my appointment, but when I showed up for my appointment, I was informed that my appointment was never actually scheduled. So after coordinating time off from work and driving 45 minutes one way, I left without being treated. I was offered to come back in 3 hours or to schedule for another day, both if which I declined. I will be changing my referral to another provider. Peoples time is important, please pay closer attention when doing your job, and have a little more respect for your patients time and maybe consider not wasting people's time and having a negative impact on their work lives as well.

I had to reschedule twice due to work and summer school, but they were extremely accommodating despite the limited hours. Bedside manner is pleasant and when I was first examined, I felt like I was being cared for. The atmosphere is peaceful and pleasant, with a side of 80s music (which I loved lol). Instead of receiving a straightforward response, the therapist became defensive, which made me very uncomfortable. I was also told that payment for the records had to be made in cash only, with no option to pay by card or any digital payment method. I found that unusual and inconvenient. Patients should be able to request their medical records and treatment plans without feeling like they're causing a problem. My goal was only to stay informed about my own care, but the interaction left me disappointed and frustrated.

I've mentioned how much better I feel after getting on board with physical therapy. I have my…read moredoctor over at the Visalia VA for pushing me to that after my bicycle accident. Before the accident and at 73 years old I believe I was slowly letting myself go down the road of decrepitude. I think that the accident woke me up and showed me that the low-impact exercise that is offered by physical therapy outfits like PRO-PT is the way. I call BS on that old adage "no pain, no gain" as a sure way to deliver doubt to us older citizens. Physical therapy is a very good thing to start with and if you wish to look like Jack La Lane (before he went on to his reward) well then go for the gymnasium with at least a good start. Just an old guy's opinion.
