If you don't have an appointment and are a walk in, the kiosk suggests you make an appointment next time, and that your wait could be 30 to 60 minutes. I decided to wait and was called back within a couple of minutes. Their blood draw rooms are nice. The phlebotomist was patient, asked questions, and listened when I answered. The care they show is nice. Aside from the odd experience with their kiosk, the visit was good and it was fast.

I went to Labcorp to get blood tests. The experience starts with scheduling your appointment…read moreonline, something I found to be incredibly easy to do. You choose a day and are presented with every open slot they have. Select one and confirm it, and you are ready. This was particularly good since I wanted to go right away, and found an appointment available in 1/2 hour. So I booked the time. When you arrive, there is someone sitting at a desk, but you are expected to check in using their kiosk. The kiosk has a scanner where you place your driver's license and then your insurance card. Using the data it captured, it filled out all of the information for me. That made checking in much easier. I was taken back right away even though I was a little early. The phlebotomist greeted me and asked me to take a seat. I can't say the draw was painless, but she did stick me with a needle... I'm used to getting lab work done in the hospital lab. This was a much easier experience, with no wait time. (Can't say that about a hospital lab.)

And, I typically ride up to my doctor's office in Buffalo Grove (about ten miles) to have the tests done. I've tried Quest Diagnostic, but I am not impressed. And, going to a lab at a hospital means long waits and a higher cost. A friend suggested this and I think this will be where I do my blood work from now on. I arrived before they opened - I wanted to be the first in, and first out. The only issue I encountered was the phlebotomist wasn't ready until about 25 minutes after they opened. I didn't ask why - I was heads down going through my work email while waiting and didn't realize how much time passed. A compliment to the phlebotomist (whose name I don't recall) - the stick was painless. That is something special. The waiting room is large, and there were only two of us waiting. I don't know what that means as it gets later in the day. Does it fill up and lead to a wait? I have no idea, and don't expect I'll find out. I'll stick with arriving when they open.

Have had other offices ask me my name ask me everything as if they never saw me before. Tired of being treated like a random number. This office has the feel of a small family run business but the versatility of having a large corporate backing to get top notch equipment in the office. Today needed blood & papers for an upcoming procedure. They said they didn't have the papers, my other doctors office gave them faulty info, we left. I called the other office in the car en route another stop, managed to sort them out and have it faxed over to the clinic. Stopped at the clinic on the way home and they managed to squeeze in a few minutes with a nurse to grab the blood and a flash with the doctor to do the paperwork even though I was well past my appointment time today because the other office didn't send the papers to the right office. They'll go above and beyond to get things done if they can logistically handle it. Blood collection was easy and the nurse had my preferred type and gauge of needle, I know what needle my veins are good with because of how many blood drawings and procedural IV lines I have in a year. The overall clinic is a 5/5 except for when you have to do after hours answering service call ins. They tend to be a bit unreliable at getting the physician to phone back but they do eventually work after some prodding. Maybe the company will switch answering service vendors if they see more complaints about answering service problems.
