I checked in early, pre-registered as usual, and was promptly informed by the front‑desk receptionist that my copay would be $60. I reminded her that under my Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance (BCBS PPO), my copay is actually $20 for primary care and $30 for specialists. She admitted that her system couldn't verify insurance on a Sunday, calling it "wonky with BCBS," and stated that they must charge me $60 upfront, with a promise of reimbursement later. When I asked them to bill my insurance directly, she spoke with a colleague and insisted billing in advance was impossible. As someone with 17years of experience working in a physician's office, I've never encountered a situation where a provider refuses to bill insurance and overcharges based on a system glitch. This appears to me to be potentially fraudulent. How is it compliant to: 1. Overcharge me for a copay you know is incorrect? 2. Guarantee reimbursement, yet refuse to bill my insurer? 3. Turn me away from care based on a "system" limitation? I've visited this clinic several times--including on Thursday of this week--and was never charged extra or refused service. I feel dismissed and unjustly billed today. Legal Protections & My Rights 1. Illinois Surprise Billing Protections Illinois law (Public Act 96‑1523) prohibits balance billing for insured patients receiving care at in-network facilities. Providers can only collect your in-network cost-sharing amounts, such as copays, coinsurance, or deductibles--not arbitrary or inflated charges . 2. Federal No Surprises Act (2022) Similarly, this law safeguards patients from surprise billing in emergencies or when treated at in-network facilities by out-of-network clinicians. While urgent care doesn't fall under "emergency," your copay still must match the in-network agreed amount -- and your insurer pays the rest . 3. PPO Contract & Illinois Statute Under PPO agreements and Illinois statutes, providers may only charge up to the negotiated in-network co-payment, deductible, or coinsurance--not exceed it or delay insurance claims without justification(). 4. Started here during COVID w my children. Been here for everything X-rays, stitches, common colds, virus, eye problems- we have been dedicated! They used to be fast, thorough and great! Over the years, the service has gone down. Over half an hour wait even with an appt, as you sit in the front listening to laughing and personal convos... no one is coming out or going in. Very disappointing to see this happen. We still are here today bc couldn't get into the pediatrician. Swelling and discoloration exploded overnight, a reaction to unnecessary antibiotics. A real ophthalmologist contradicted every part of my diagnosis less than 24 hours later. Don't bother making an appointment. Still sitting here 1 hr and 30 minutes after our appointment time and not seen by a doctor. We were told there's still people ahead of us. Heard the front desk tell someone they couldn't say what time they'd be seen because there are a lot of walk-ins. Here's an ingenious idea..take the people who actually have appointments right away and the walk ins wait. This is not an ER. This whole system needs to revamp their operations. Also if there is a long line of patients and appointments can't be honored don't allow people to make them. They just want you held hostage in a back room Waiting for hours. Waited one hour to get moved into a room and then they came in to see me about 45 mins after that and said that I needed an Xray but there is no Xray technician there until 5pm. I left. Nothing immediate about the care at all. If I wanted to sit around for 2-3 hours before being seen I could have gone to an emergency room. I had been suffering from a low grade fever for a few days, but when it shot up over 101 and I couldn't get it down for an extended period of time, I just headed in. Always better to be safe than sorry. Front desk staff was awesome! Prompt, friendly and informative. I was taken in in under 10 minutes, and I also found the woman taking vitals to be the same. She was empathetic and kind, so I started to feel confident in my decision to come! The physician wasn't warm by any means, but she helped me figure out the problem and sent me on my way. The care I received on my first visit was excellent. However, when i returned to have my stitches removed I had to deal with Flor. When I was checking in the receptionist asked me to fill out some paperwork. I said, "oh I filled this out already." Flor happened to be standing at the desk responded for the receptionist stating with an attitude, "you need to complete it every time." So I said, "take it easy. No need to speak to me like that." No doctor on site. Had an appointment, only to show up with 4 people ahead of me. I asked why--was told they were injured. One injured patient typing away on computer, no one bleeding...etc. Went home. They called me after an hour and told me to come back. NP couldn't do anything and told me to go to E/R. I was trying to be nice, even after being left alone in a cubby hole for 40 minutes; I tried to crack a joke when I poked my head out the door. Someone called me DEAR! "You're next Dear..." They were inept, but treated me like a hypochondriac. I told the NP ten times I have Fibromyalgia which has some pretty weird symptoms at times. After saying 10 x I have cystitis, she asked me if I had cystitis. I mentioned a med for it by name but she never heard of it. She looked incredulous after I said I wasn't going to E/R bc I live in pain every day. Active listening is a good skill as is keeping appointments and having people on staff. They had no one working there for the volume. Avoid. Unless it's a hang nail, do not bother. Go where a person actually finished medical school. And don't joke around, even if that's your persona; they might call you "Dear," like you're ready for the sanitarium with a bottle of Laudanum and a view of the ocean. read more

My boyfriend woke up on a Wednesday morning with some concerning pain and swelling. I'm not from the area and had to pick an urgent care/walk in based solely on the information I could find on Google and Yelp. This location of Physicians Immediate Care was close, but also had the best feedback, and on that alone, we came in. The building was easy to find and well marked. The parking lot was easy to navigate (a plus in Chicago, always). The waiting room was clean, chairs spaced apart for Covid. Staff were very friendly and understanding. The check in was online, they take some basic info and email you the intake form, completely hands off anything in the lobby. They prepped us for ~an hour wait, and we could wait in the car for a text or in the lobby. We waited appx 45 minutes before called. My boyfriend felt comfortable and heard by the doctor, and said he was kind and reassuring, as was the nurse who assisted. The visit was quick and there was a lot of support for treatment and follow up. Without insurance, prices can feel scary but right on the front desk they have visit information clearly outlined into prices and took away the anxiety from not knowing how much we would have to pay. This was a top tier experience and I would recommend Physicians Immediate Care in this location to anyone needing this level of medical support. read more

today unfortunately I had to take my autistic child to physicians immediate care in Jefferson Park and I have to say that I had the worst experience ever today from the start. I go in and try to schedule appointment the reason for my sons visit was because he had a cough non stop for an hour and since he has asthma I was extremely worried. so as I am trying to fill out everything online a woman that comes in starts to insult my autistic child to put his mask up. luckily the receptionists was amazing she heard and came out and took us to a room. I had never experience such offensive behavior of an older person she was beyond rude. I wait in the exam room and then walks in a NP and comes takes a look at my son. she couldn't care less about him and everytime he coughed she would move all the way back. like if my son was contiagous . I ALSO WORK IN THE MEDICAL FIELD AND NOT ONCE HVE I DISRESPECTED A PATIENT OR THEIR CHILD BECAUSE OF THEOR CONDITIONA THEY ARE THEIR TO GET HELP AND NOT SO THEY CAN FEEL UNCOMTORABLE NO ONE will ever understand what's it's like to have a special needs childs who are non verbal kids and don't know right from wrong. I was given diagnoses by a doctor without ever being examined by this doctor. I requested to be given copies of my X-rays and the they said they were too busy, so I came back at later date first thing, and was handed a blank CD on which my X-rays were supposedly on. Caroline, Katie and Diane were great! We were very high maintenance patients because we weren't sure if we should stay or go somewhere else and we were unsure if insurance would cover the testing. They were very patient with us and even though it was getting close to closing time, they didn't make us feel rushed. They even spoke to the person picking up the blood test for Quest and asked him if he could come back and get our test so that we could get the results the following day. I decided to bring my son here for an illness based on the positive recommendation from a close friend. I should have known better and gone to our usual walk-in clinic. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! What's the point of having an online appointment program if you don't follow it what-so-ever??? I made an appointment for 6:00 p.m. I received an email and text that we needed to be there no later than 5:45, for our 6 p.m. appointment since we were new patients. We arrived at 5:40 p.m. and there was only 1 other person in the lobby who was ahead of us on the screen. We did NOT get called into a room until 6:30 p.m. Vitals and weight were taken and then we waited. And waited. And waited. After checking at 7 p.m., to see what was going on, we were only told, "sorry for the delay." We waited, and waited some more. 7:30 p.m. comes along, mind you....NO ONE, absolutely NO ONE came into the room for an hour to let us know what was going on!! This is appalling!! We stormed out at 7:30 p.m. without seeing a doctor since we had not eaten dinner yet AND we had somewhere else to be at 8 p.m. No apologies, no nothing. I will NOT be paying any bill for this visit for vitals being taken! I want all my information taken OUT of your system! This is an awful way to run a practice. I should have known better and went to our usual Advocate Clinic. An entire evening wasted, never saw the doctor, and no courtesy. NEVER AGAIN!!! read more

Tried to go to the Sauganash Swedes for a quick check on my sore throat and lymph nodes, but it quickly turned into a nightmare and I bailed before my amateur parking lot appointment. The folks at Physicians, though, were excellent! Followed Covid protocols and all that, listened to me, took my vitals, and also didn't ask me to present my test papers (tested CV19 positive a couple months ago) like some Stasi / SS torture session, AND they let me on the building! A negative strep test later and I was on my way home to take some IB Profen and chill. I'm already feeling better. Big props to the folks there for being nice, efficient, and safe. read more

I went in at the peek of my illness, just to make sure I didn't have anything serious. It was a Sunday. The day before, I had a fever of 102.1 and typically stand at 98.3/ 98.1. That was high for me. In addition to the fever, I had terrible fatigue, extremely painful cough, nasal congestion, and aches. I did the "telehealth" visit with a doctor on that Sunday, because I guess they were busy and i was informed that if I wanted to see the doctor, it would be a very long wait. I didn't mind. I tested negative for COVID, Strep, etc so that was good! I was informed that I had a virus and it's going around. I told the doctor I obviously can't go to work like this and that I would need 2-3 days off.... I was being humble because I know sometimes the doctors give me too many days off and I don't want to be away from work that long. I'm used to doctors giving me 5 days minimal. So...the doctor wrote me a note saying I should report back to work on Wednesday! I called right after I left, knowing I wouldn't feel completely well by Wednesday, (not even close) and requested that she write the note to return back to work on Thursday, only one day later! She refused and said that it was "policy" and her assistant informed me that if I was still feeling ill, I can come back Tuesday, which is almost like a day later since that day was Sunday. Absurd. And, I would have to pay for another doctor's visit? Totally Unacceptable. I've always loved Physicians Immediate Care, because I'm almost never sick, but when I am, I can count on them. I don't even have a primary doctor because I'm so rarely sick! So when I go, it's because I'm very ill. Unfortunately, I won't be back to Physicians Immediate Care. And the funny thing is, my work actually gives me three days off for sickness, no questions asked and the doctor's office gave me two. Shame on you Physicians Immediate Care... Came here for a COVID test. Stayed up til midnight to book the appointment and filled out my paperwork online beforehand. Once I arrived for my appointment, I waited in my car for about 5 mins over my appt time and was called on my phone when my screening time started. The nurse asked me about my symptoms and then welcomed me into the facility when we were through. Facility was clean and very COVID safe. This place is amazing, and I like coming here much more than any doctor at Resurrection. Everyone is very professional and friendly. I've come here at least 3 times because I always have problems with vertigo. When my allergies get very bad, I come here so they can clean my ears, and although it hurts and I hate it so much because they pump fluid in my ear, I always feel much better. Though, during the procedure I always feel like I am going to pass out. The facility is very clean and I have never had to wait more than 30 minutes to be seen by a doctor. read more

Had to come here for some medical attention that I could not get addressed elsewhere as I do not have a primary care physician. My illness initially did require a prior ER visit, but my symptoms were ongoing for a long time after the ER and I needed relief. The treatment route that was chosen here at Physicians was exactly what I needed to feel better. All of the staff was welcoming, warm, and friendly, from the front desk, to the nurses, to the doctors. My wait time was not excessive, and I feel like a lot of the reviews here that are complaining about the wait time are not taking into consideration that places like this determine their wait times based on severity of the injury/illness. The difference is there is more transparency here vs. an emergency room about how long you might wait, and you can view your spot in line from your phone while completing other errands, should your injury/illness allow this. There is also a pharmacy right across the street if you wish to not travel far out of the way to pick up any prescriptions. read more

This was probably my 5th visit to this clinic. I did the on line registration which helped, and i like. I was checked in by a gal named "Q", who was very polite and helpful. I was treated by Dr. Mike. He was very compassionate, caring and knowledgeable. He discussed a plan to treat my illness. I was very comfortable with the plan and thankful for his concern.
