My mother had a stroke and went through intensive rehabilitation at Spaulding in Charlestown, MA…read more After insurance rejected continued coverage at Spaulding, I had only one day to find a place she could receive step down care for the remainder of her rehabilitation before going back to independent living in a senior community. Sachem had high ratings on paper, so we chose it without checking it out first. Big mistake. The day she transferred in, I went to check the place out, only to be greeted by a strong sewage smell at the front door. I was too late, she was already in a double room. Within 4 days, I saw a significant decline in all of the progress my mother had made. Her speech started to become unclear again and she was confined to a wheel chair or bed. I asked the head nurse what steps I would need to take to transfer her to another, better step down facility. That's the only time things started to change. I met with the coordinators of social services, physical and occupational therapy, and nursing to discuss a plan. In the meantime, some of my mothers belongs went missing. They moved her to a private room and she ended up staying for the rest of the approved time at Sachem, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I had to argue that I simply wanted my mother treated with the same courtesy and care they would give their OWN mothers. Apparently, they don't care about their own moms, because little changed. If there was anything good from the experience, it would be that it helped my mother start to process her fear of additional strokes, because she wanted out of Sachem so badly.

Whitman Physical Therapy 15 South Avenue…read moreWhitman 02382 781-447-3060 781-447-0960-FAX A+ R-E-V-I-E-W Owners Christine San Antonio and Julia Wyper are cousins who grew up in a tight-knit family. Both followed the same career path and, although they began professional careers across the country in California and Texas, they brought combined experience, training and skills back to Massachusetts. In 2004, an out-patient practice was established with a focus on providing one-on-one patient care that has become a hallmark of their specialized services. Following years of dedicated practice, the physical therapists brought education, experience, skill and training to the forefront, derived from nearly every field of therapy including: * Home Health * In-Patient Acute Care * Out-Patient Therapy * Pediatrics * Rehabilitation * Skilled Nursing * Sports Injuries They are proud to now operate four physical therapy clinics: * Hingham 184 Lincoln Street * Hopkinton 34 Hayden Rowe Street - Suite 205 * South End 495 Columbus Avenue, Boston * Whitman 15 South Avenue Physicaltherapyma.com I began physical therapy treatment at Whitman Physical Therapy on June 4, 2026. Lumbar Spinal Stenosis caused 8/10 intermittent, right-sided glute pain whenever I walked a short distance. As the pain escalated, I would stop whatever I was doing and wait for the pain to dissipate. Continue Walking. 8/10 Pain. Stop. Wait for pain to ebb. I finally broke down and made an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon. I was hoping that I could point to where it hurt and Dr. Michael E. Ayers would inject cortisone into the affected area. Poof--no more pain. Not so easy. MRI revealed lots of issues with my lower back, including disc bulges. Nothing alarming to an orthopedic surgeon. Dr. Ayers ordered PT. When stepping into Whitman PT's interior, I was greeted by friendly receptionist/scheduler, Julie, whose bright smile and easy laugh represent an earnest and genuine welcome to all. Therapist Julia Wyper conducted the initial evaluation. I was immediately at ease. A comforting and easy rapport was instantly established. Julia showed a genuine interest not only in my medical issues, but also in my background. Who doesn't like to meet someone brand new and get to talk primarily about herself? Julia entrusted my personalized care to several young ladies, including Abbey, Grace and Maria. Abbey gets straight down to business. She guides one through the exercises with downright determination and precision that ensure speedy steps to recovery. Grace is a bit of an old, wise soul. She is more of a listener, interpreting and weighing the words that tumble from and intermingle between the individuals in the room. A quick grin and smile from Grace's delicate features indicate that she hears but will hold onto opinion until the time is right. Maria possesses an outward appreciation and enthusiasm for her professional goals. She aptly listens to the patient's woes that are soon diminished by the attention and specialized exercises that are implemented. Julia, Julie and the three young ladies shine with personality, making the experience delightful. Caring, dedicated, skillful and definitely in their rightful professional realm, these women treated me with dignity and respect not just as an elder, but more so as a broken bird. It started off easy - 10 repeats of each exercise, increased to 20 as sessions went along. Maria reminded me to lift with your legs, not your back. Good advice. I never gave even the merest of thought as to what educational and clinical requirements are needed in order to become a physical therapist: Bachelor's Degree followed by a full-time, three-year Doctor of Physical Therapy program. No small task. Many physical therapists hold a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree, a clinical doctorate requiring three to four years of postgraduate study. This degree includes advanced coursework in anatomy, biomechanics, pathology, pharmacology, physiology while preparing graduates to evaluate and treat a wide range of cardiopulmonary, musculoskeletal and neurological conditions. DPT holders technically are doctors in their field. Physical Therapists rank #7 in the U.S. News' list of Best Health Care Jobs (2025). Wisehealthtips.com Julia and her staff at Whitman PT deserve accolades, applause and appreciation for the high accomplishments that have been achieved by each one. People who devote their lives to helping others become better, healthier and stable, including doctors, nurses and physical therapists, are a remarkable and special breed, much cherished and respected. Early on these individuals are led by duty, inclination and purpose to devote professional careers to easing immobility, injuries, pain and stiffness that their patients endure, experience and suffer from. It takes Herculean effort and time to complete rigorous studies and training in order to obtain a Doctorate in Physical.

That refund took until December to get and every time I called the receptionist said it should be in the mail soon. Well one day I called and was voicing my concerns about this and she wouldn't talk to me. I got the corporate number and gave them a call and again went through the check will be in the mail soon. I finally had to open a false charge with my credit card company and finally got my money. Now, I am receiving a bill for the same date of service.
