I had honestly thought I was a lost cause but decided to give the gym a try after a referral from a friend. After working with Julian for a few weeks, I had amazing results! I could do higher intensity workouts for longer durations and not deal with any of my previous problems. His approach is scientific and his observation skills are top notch. He understands what your body needs and knows how to remediate it. He is a pleasure to work with and I used to look forward to our sessions eagerly. I really can't thank Julian and J Bodyworks enough for helping me and making even my everyday life so much easier!

Working with Justin and the Redcord system has been amazing! Justin takes the time to assess where…read moreyou need work, and then designs the work he does with you specifically around that. I was curious to try it out, and boy was I glad I did. He immediately uncovered several areas of imbalance and asymmetry that my body had, likely still lingering from a back injury many years ago. I had gotten rid of the pain, but my muscles weren't equally strong on both sides, so I was compensating with the wrong muscles in several movements. This is a recipe for getting reinjured again more easily! We were able to address these areas directly, and work in a very precise and targeted way, to get these muscles to wake up and strengthen, and start working as they should. The Redcord system makes it really easy to focus on a specific muscle and movement, so you can't "cheat" with other, stronger muscles and keep moving the same unergonomic way. It was really incredible to see the differences before and after the sessions! If you have any injuries you're trying to heal, or just know you're out-of-whack from sitting at a computer and texting and all the other ills a modern human body has to deal with, give Justin a call! Highly recommended!

It is near the bus lines and that is how I got around tonight. I got home and I was out since the yoga class started at 7:15pm. It was led by lady J. who is pretty punky looking. The music was some recognizable punk and I thought it was fun music. The yoga class was a basic yoga class, but the routine is always going to change and I was just trying it out. She did get annoyed by me and I had to alter my behavior. I could not do everything because I am a yoga mess, but you know I tried to tell her that I could be at home with Netflix or tv or something, so I tried to get out for an activity. There were 2 other people(guys). I walked around 16th and Valencia for sometime(mainly Foodhall) and that was my evening outing. So today was alright I guess, and now I am with my fam.

I could barely do a chaduranga, I didn't even know what a chaduranga was! Now I can do it with ease and it didn't take that long either. During the beginning of my practice at Yoga Punx, many others seemed to have mad skills and I felt like I didn't know what the hell I was doing (and I didn't). Khristine always starts the class by saying, "This class is for all levels, every one is welcome". That saying always calms me down and helps me to accept exactly where I'm at. I learned how to honor where I was in my practice and didn't feel like I had to push myself to keep up with everyone else. Now I can keep up...most of the time. The individual care Kristine provided helped me to feel like I was in good hands. I fell, I laughed, I asked questions and felt no judgment at all from Kristine or the other yoga participants. The scene she sets up is cozy and cool. She burns some kind of weird incense thing, plays old school punk rock music and she'll even throw in a little Black Sabbath. The setting is Very casual. Some folks come to class with dresses and tights, skater shorts and whatever they feel comfortable in. Again, no judgment. The community who practice at Yoga Punx tend to be super creative and fun. It's not just a class, it's where I go to see some good friends and meet some new ones as well. Up the Punx!

It's not "hot yoga", but he has heaters that keep the classes at a nice toasty warm temperature. Recently I've been going to the yoga wall classes. This is a unique experience. I love the feeling of inversions, and this provides a good outlet for that. Yoga poses are done against the wall, against gravity. I think I'm decent at yoga, but the classes kick my butt. It's challenging completely different muscle groups and requires a different type of strength. The classes are very diverse and inclusive. Forget any stereotypes of the typical waifish woman. In class, there's all ages, genders, body types. Particularly for the yoga wall class, I've been impressed by how there is an older/senior demographic, but I realize that everybody gets something different out of the the yoga wall classes. While I'm looking for a core-strengthening challenge, others are looking for a yoga class that takes pressure off their spines, relieve back pain, etc. On nice days, he may occasionally have his vinyasa flow class outside. (He will have updates on his Instagram/Facebook if that is the case.) My favorite routine is to go to his class on Saturday morning, and then get a bite to eat afterwards at Cafe Alma a block away. I can't say enough good things about this studio!

When I first started my fitness journey, I was really discouraged. I failed high school PE (haha), and only ever did cardio for exercise so the idea of lifting weights and strength training was foreign to me. The moment I walked into Perform For Life, that intimidation feeling I always get when I walk into a gym immediately went away. The atmosphere here is so positive! All of the coaches here are super welcoming, supportive, and knowledgeable. It really feels like a tight knit community when you come in. The biggest thanks for my new found confidence in myself, and love for lifting weights and working out goes to my Coach Kris Gallimore. I was first paired with him based on my specific goals and his experience previously training tactical athletes. He's patient, encouraging, super informative, and most of all so genuine and makes working out so much fun and enjoyable. The programs he's put together for my goals are top-notch, and we do so much different variety of workouts each session. Every session I feel challenged, and so proud of myself for accomplishing something I did not even know I was capable of. My most recent accomplishment was 30 inch box jumps!! I can't say thank you enough to him for encouraging me to challenge myself both mentally and physically every session. Seriously, I could rave about him for hours.
