I've been working out with Anthony from the JBodyworks Team for almost 2 years now and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE! Here is why:
#1. I was a competitive athlete for 15 years, had reconstructive shoulder surgery, 2 car accidents that fractured my L4 and L5, and for the last 10 years have been sedentary due to my job. Long story short, my body got more and more jacked as time went by. When I started with Anthony, he made sure to meet me where I was as opposed to "trying to get me to" do standard workout trends you'd see online or at a more corporate location. It can be really frustrating when your brain remembers being able to do advanced moves, but your body isn't falling in line. Anthony's attention to where I was helped me to stay on track and avoid re-injurying myself.
#2. When you are getting your body moving again and "rewiring" the way it moves, there will be bumps in the road. JBodyworks is trained in neuroscience and the owner is also a trained orthodpedic manual therapist. The moment I experienced any discomfort or pain, we would immediately stop to deal with it...and sometimes that looked like canceling that part of the workout. I am so used to "pushing through the pain" from years and years of coaches telling this to me. I now actually listen to what my body is telling me. This has been beneficial not only in the context of working out, but also in beginning to see when I'm stressed and it is cognitively not registering for me.
#3. The team are experts in what they do, but they aren't arrogant about it. They literally love to geek out on the human body and the way the brain directs movement. However, they are totally willing to say, "Hey, I don't think I can do anymore here. I recommend you go see...." I appreciate that because it makes me feel like they are looking out for my best interests and have my back, vs needing to prove something or invalidate other modalities.
#4. They are actually a team. When you are at the JBodyworks studio, you immediately become part of the family. Everyone keeps it professional, but it isn't sterile or void of a friendly atmosphere. Kinda like Cheers, everyone knows your name and says hello when you walk in. Also, if your trainer is for some reason out that day...they first look to see who can cover your session before they opt to cancel altogether. The JBW team has their whole attention on their clients and making sure the client is taken care of.
#5. (I promise this is the last one) I have noticed how much the environment pulls for growth...the clients' growth, the growth of the trainers, and even the growth of the owner - physically, professionally, personally. Coasting along in business as usual is not how this team roles. I have always been interested in way I can grow or better myself, and I want to be around people who think the same...including my trainer.
I would hands down recommend working out here to anyone who wants the personalized attention of a trainer and even more so if you are in pain or a recovering athlete. They will make sure you are taken care of! read more
