DO NOT GO HERE! They are stealing $5000 from me after we quit. They have aggressive sales processes, the initial "class" is nothing but a sales technique. It is not reflective of their classes whatsoever. Often times new members are thrown in with the seasoned one but since there is only one instructor most of the time, you will not be taught. You will just have to catch on and hope for the best. This is not tailored towards kids, it is more for older kids/adults. They charge outrageous fees and sell their weapons at a 100% markup. Was completely scammed by this company. Was referred by a friend who also was scammed. She collected my credit card almost immediately, yet there was supposed to be a 2 week free trial. She handed me uniforms when I said I wanted to think about it. I brought my son and she said I could do the class with him. I thought because we were the only ones in there.. She told me to sign for my credit card but never handed me contract, nor told me it was a year long and included a cancellation fee. After the first week I was charged 1300 and my card was charged again for 300 2 weeks later. So for 5 classes where two should of been free I was charged 1636. I also found out she charges different families different prices. For me and my son it was 400 after speaking to my friend she said oh I will charge you 300 then I find out my friend was getting charged 200! Completely unethical! Stay clear of this business. How they justify 100 per hour per person for a 45 mins class is insane!! Save your money and go elsewhere read more

Was not happy with our experience here. Sadly my son loved the class and the instructors were great. The upsetting part was we paid $1,700 for a year and a month in was told would need to pay more for our child to advance his belt. This was not described properly to my wife when we signed up. Also not stated in their contract. We requested refund with no luck either per the money back guarantee on the site. My wife also wrote a long email with not even a response. I enrolled my grandson at ATA Martial Arts when I found out he was being bullied at school. My normally energetic, happy, polite, and well adjusted grandson had become distant and sad, his grades were dropping, and he began to exaggerate (lie) a lot to try to make people like him. Our son has been attending ATA classes for almost 2 years now and we absolutley LOVE it! He has learned so many wonderful life skills along with techniques to defend himself. He has moved up in rank improving his self esteem and always loves to go! Master Llacuna and Mrs. Llacuna are wonderful people who love children and continually pour into the kids with all their heart. They deserve the greatest respect. My family and I went to the Anthem ATA Martial Arts school for 21/2 years. In order to get into a program that would allow advancement to black belt, we had to sign a 3 year contract. There was a one-time membership fee of $1176 (we were allowed to make payments), plus 35 payments of $360 per month. This rate covered 4 family members, and subsequent family members could be added at no charge. The contract could be canceled without penalty anytime within 30 days after the date it was signed. Otherwise, the contract could only be canceled under very specific circumstances, such as permanent disability, or moving more than 25 miles away from any American Taewkondo Association (ATA) school. Our contract also had an automatic renewal clause. If one doesn't cancel the contract at the end of the contract, the membership agreement will automatically renew for an additional 12 months, at $200 per month. A teaching cycle lasts approximately 8 weeks. If a student has attended the required minimum number of classes (15), and is able to demonstrate the material to the instructor, the student is given permission to graduate to the next belt. In general, the student must be able to demonstrate a Songahm Taekwondo form, a weapons form, a board break (or board break combination), 1 or 2 self-defense sequences, and proficiency with a sparring combination (lower belts) or sparring (at higher belts). Lower belts are allowed to spar. Higher belts are required to spar. Protective gear must be worn, and the amount of contact allowed is none to light contact with lower belts. Otherwise, it is dictated by what the person being hit is comfortable with (usually light to medium contact). In any event, punches to the face, or contact to the back and lower body are prohibited. I can't really speak to the quality of instruction, as this is the only martial arts school I have attended, but it seemed like decent martial arts training. Thankfully, I've never had to put it to the test in a real life situation. I have a generally positive outlook on the curriculum, especially for children. The school also teaches "Life Skills" to round out the martial arts training. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this school. We had a major falling out with the owners a few months back, when one of the owners treated my wife poorly multiple times in the space of a few days. We have not attended classes since. Although the co-owner promised that our contract would be cancelled, and she said there would be no hard feelings, the co-owner reneged on that promise, and we are obliged to honor the contract. Thus, I have come to the conclusion that the owners do not follow the "Life Skills" they themselves teach. The details can be found at http://www.ughfest.com. When it comes to choosing any martial arts school, be very cautious when signing a long-term contract. Be wary of schools that include an auto-renewal clause in their contract. ATA Anthem martial arts is amazing! After sitting and watching my children practice martial arts for a year I decided to get involved too. One of the best things I have done for my adult self! Not only do I get to bond with my kids, I get physically and mentally challenged in every class. Master Llacuna is incredible, patient, and beyond skilled. The environment that the Llacunas have created for their studio allows you to challenge yourself past what you could have ever imagined you could do, in a fun and motivating way. I have been going to this school sense 2007. I got my black belt it 2009 and I really worked hard for it. This school has taught me so many great things, and has really fashioned me into the person that I am today. Mr. Llacuna is a fantastic teacher! He is great with kids of all ages, and adults as well. He does an after school program for the kids, and helps them with their homework. He also does karate birthday parties, which is always fun for the kids.
