I love Photos Just So! I've come to them three times now for photography, and each time I love them more than the last. They provide excellent service and gorgeous photos for incredibly reasonable prices. My husband and I first asked them to do a nice couples portrait for us on the UC Berkeley campus. We had never done any sort of portraits before (y'know, beyond those stiff, cheesy school photos back in the day), so we were a little nervous to start. Justin and his wife/assistant Dana immediately put us at ease with their friendly, professional manner. After a few shots my husband and I relaxed, and we got some wonderful photos to share as Xmas gifts (and yes, we even did some cheesy poses for fun). We came back to them a few years later for newborn photos for our first child. We arranged for them to visit us in the hospital, and I treasure those pictures above all others taken in that period. I had a difficult and unpleasant experience in the hospital (but that's for another Yelp review), but when I look at Justin's beautiful photos all I remember were the good moments, and how much Justin and Dana's calm, friendly visit cheered me up. They came to our home a few weeks later for part two of our newborn portrait package. Again, their bright manner made the afternoon special and fun. They did some lovely "candid" shots of us feeding our baby, then some more posed shots of the baby with some fun props they'd brought. As parents themselves, they know how to calmly and easily deal with a little newborn, and our little guy was as relaxed as a month-old could be. The pictures turned out AMAZING. We used Photos Just So for our fall family pictures. They came out wonderful! It's difficult to get pictures where the toddler and both look good together, but Justin did. We were able to do a holiday mini session which was perfect for what we needed. Despite having several sessions back to back he was on time for ours and didn't make us feel rushed to finish. Justin and Dana were our photographers at our wedding in February at the Rockefeller Lodge in San Pablo and we feel so lucky to have found them to be a part of our extremely wonderful day. They captured each and every precious memory, the big moments and the little ones. Our package included a 2 hour engagement shoot which we did in San Francisco at the Ferry building and it was so fun and great practice for having our picture taken and getting used to each others' style. Justin was really open to ideas but also was great at directing the photography to maximize the shot. He had an assistant with him and he was really nice and helpful too, especially since we were on location in the city. For our wedding, they stayed from start to finish, a long day of making memories to last a lifetime. We love being able to look back on the pictures and see all of the little details we may have missed on the big day and to relive the amazing moments we shared with our loved ones. It was such a magical day and Justin and Dana's style of photography helped capture that element of love and happiness on film. Justin was always easy to get into contact with, promptly returned emails, answered any questions we had during the planning process and also took initiative when we were falling a little behind on getting information to him (day-of timeline, etc... ) since planning a wedding can be so demanding of time and energy it was great to have Justin and Dana as part of our support system to create a lovely stress-free, enjoyable and easy wedding. They directed all of our family members, friends, and wedding party, knew exactly the right lighting and never over-used special effects to really preserve the authenticity of our big day. We received some proofs/preview shots of the wedding about a week after and within a month of the wedding we received a lovely set of discs containing all of the beautifully shot pictures from our wedding, about 550 pictures in total. Justin is the BEST. I've worked with him on personal projects and professional projects. Photos Just So is consistently creative and professional. He is a good listener. Knows how to take a concept and turn it into a visual story. I've never been disappointed with his product. And, if I were, I know him to be so committed to the quality of his work that he wouldn't rest until I was pleased. Most recently he was the photographer we chose to work with at Center for Human Services on a project featuring staff, volunteers, and clients from our nonprofit. Justin was thoughtful and kind. I was looking for a local photographer online with good reviews and came across Photos Just So. I needed someone to do a session for my son's senior photos, and thought I would give Justin a try. He responded to my phone call right away and I scheduled a date. After a week or so, I needed to change the original location and was hoping this wouldn't be an issue. Justin was so easy to work with and had no issue changing anything. The pics in the locations I chose turned out GREAT, and I couldn't be happier. I have recommended him to other people already and I will continue to use him for photos in the future. This husband and wife team are the best at their craft. They have been photographing our family portraits for nearly two years. From birthdays to holiday portraits to weddings, they provide it all with ease. They have the unique ability to capture our real personalities so perfectly, all the idiosyncrasies of our young children shine through instead of being forced to pose and perform for the "perfect photo". I'm not sure that shooting our family is necessarily easy for Justin, but all the laying down in dirt and leaves for a good shot sure is worth it! So amazing. read more

They are amazing and human and professional and funny and they brought a unicorn mask to our wedding and had my husband wear it and me jump on his back and like, is anything better? No. the point is they get to know all of their clients and work with them - they've made us feel like we're their favorite, and the only people they've ever worked with and that's a SKILL. they also managed to get me relaxed in front of the camera AND looking good, which is amazing.
