Unfortunately I lost my passport. I had to go to the County Clerk Office! This place is about a block or two away. They took my passport photo quickly and I was on my way. Great courteous service! read more

Traveled all the way across town just to find out, they do not take passport photos AFTER 3 pm. Seriously. That's not on the sign, on the website, or listed on Yelp. Improve your media notifications. I'm done. Done. read more

Never had a problem here & the photos always come back in great quality. I really appreciate how quickly you get the photos back!

Jay + the crew are phenomenal, great professional kind developer & the best quality work. I have developed more than 50 rolls of film here, never once encountered a problem. Quality is hi res & with an affordable price. Turnaround times are always reasonable & quick for colors, black & whites sometimes up to 3 days but you will always be given the heads up. If you are shooting 35mm in NYC, Jay is who you can trust with your work! read more

So glad I found this shop to develop disposable cameras!! Fast service and can't wait to come back for the friendly conversation. It's on the 2nd floor- stairs from sidewalk. Time slows down here and I find it relaxing and a few minutes of escaping the rush. read more

Awesome local photo shop. You can purchase film, get your rolls/disposable cameras developed, order prints, and even get your passport photos taken. Shops like this are hard to find nowadays. I dropped off a disposable camera and a roll of B&W that I shot with an old Leica. The prints from the disposable were ready for pickup later that day; the other roll took about a week. They developed my film, produced the prints, and digitized as per my instructions. Sadly, most of my Leica roll didn't come out well; what a waste of Ilford HP5! I'll have to get my camera repaired and spend more time with the ol' light meter. And when I've got another roll ready, I know where to bring it. read more

So annoyed. Just picked up my order. Said it would be ready in a week. Three weeks and it wasn't ready. He did half the job. Said he would have it later. And argued with me. AVOID if you can. read more

There are just a few labs where people can develop films. All of them are more or less the same. And the only huge difference is their customer service. I cannot thank Photoreal enough. Besides doing their job perfectly they are stayed late so I was able to get my order. Even more, I couldn't find parking and they were so nice and offered to bring it right to my car. Highly recommend!!! read more

Fantastic photo quality, fantastic service, and even more fantastic people!! Although I live quite far from this shop, I keep coming back here to get my film (35mm) developed. The staff here are so kind, helpful, and insightful - giving me tips, troubleshooting, as well as helping me wind my film - it makes the long trip out all the worth! I would definitely recommend stopping by this small business to support and get your film developed, photos printed, etc! read more

I needed passport pictures taken so I checked on Yelp and found that Photoreal had really good reviews. The person helping me told be all about the rules for passport photos (a lot has changed in 10 years--you can't wear glasses and you can't give a full smile). The service and quality are great. Also, you get two photos for $12, that sounds great to me. I highly recommend Photoreal, I don't think you'll be disappointed. read more

Very efficient for passport photos! Great service and kind guy that took my passport photo

I needed to develop and digitize the photos I have of my ukrainian host family this week - something I needed to do to share photos with my host family during this difficult first week of the Russian invasion. They did it for me on the same day! And I got to keep my film too! I highly recommend their service!! And congrats on 30 years in business!!! I can see why!!! read more

I wouldn't go anywhere else for my professional photos. Ajay is a consummate professional and they make passport photos actually look good!! Love this place. read more

I came here to get some disposables developed. They did it for a very reasonable price and VERY quickly (I had the photos in my inbox in two days). They email you the photos, so you don't need to return in person to pick them up. When I have any film I need developed, I'll definitely be returning here! read more

I don't think I've ever had such a positive experience at a photo studio before. Came in for a Canadian PR photo, which has incredibly specific and strict requirements. They knew exactly what it was and exactly how to shoot it, print it, stamp it, and sign it. I was done and out the door 30 minutes later, and it only cost me $15. Straight up brilliant. read more

These guys were great! I needed an old VHS transferred to a digital file as a gift on a bit of short notice. Long story short, they were incredibly understanding and ended up taking care of it without any issues. Great operation at a convenient spot a couple blocks away from the R train so it was easy to pop in and out too. Thanks again for your help! read more

Jay and Boris were so helpful during my entire time I used their services. I used Photoreal to develop some old film (12 year old film) and despite the film being old, Jay was still able to retrieve a majority of the photos! Photoreal's team also did an AMAZING job with transferring two old home movies on VHS to DVD. The movies all came out clear! Thank you to Jay and Boris for helping me preserve my childhood memories! Also AMAZING prices! Truly a hidden gem in downtown Brooklyn. read more

Just great !! Super fast. Will drop off all my personal film here. : ) will also looking into buying film / disposable cameras here as well.

Great service and gets photos back to you the same day or the next day! At CVS etc it takes closer to two weeks. Photoreal is my go-to place for developing disposable camera film and buying disposable cameras. read more

Favorite neighborhood spot! Feels like they genuinely care about assisting you and making sure you receive your film in a timely manner

Great place to get passport photos and so much more. People who know what they are doing. Local business!

I came here to take a passport photo. Like other reviews said, this place is quick and fast. They let you look at the picture to see if you like it before printing it out. I was in and out in 5 minutes. I would definitely recommend people to come here to get their passport photo taken. read more

I got my film developed here and am so happy with how it turned out; they took really great care of it, and even accommodated a super last minute change in my order to add scans! Really great customer service and would highly recommend Photoreal to anyone looking to develop film! read more

These guys a great! They have the whole setup with professional lights, ideal for passport photos. I got my share of disappointment at Walgreens so I decided to go to a real place that specializes in photo work. I must say I found it at Photoreal. I will come back here in the future and will definitely recommend. Boris, the gentleman who specializes in passport photos and helpful and efficient. The whole process took few minutes and he even nailed the photo on the first shot! Never happened before. And it's only $15! Guys don't go anywhere else for your passport photos. They also do Canadian passport photos, basically they check the requirements thoroughly and make photos and print them accordingly. They will balance the reds/blues/yellows if necessary, anyway serious, professional and lovely team at that! read more

Great friendly service! Took our pictures, and depending on how busy it is you might need to go back a little later...or wait. But that's okay, it's one guy and he works as fast as he can. The price is great, and the service is great. It's a nice find in downtown Brooklyn. No need to go anywhere else. read more

Best place to go to in BK. These guys know their stuff and the film I get developed always turns out amazing. Jay always follows through for me as well. Here's 3 good examples 1. I accidentally loaded the film wrong into my camera and brought the film to Jay to develop. Since there was nothing on the film, nothing was developed. Instead of charging me though, Jay didn't. Instead, he asked me to bring in the camera to ensure that it was working/ he even taught me how to properly load my camera. (I've been shooting film for awhile, but every once and awhile, a blank will pop up.) This is special care right here because this helpful lesson ensures that I never get a blank roll. 2. I was shooting on another camera that I had just purchased and was taking the roll out of camera. However, somehow the roll broke inside the camera and I accidentally exposed a little bit of the film to light because I needed to check. I pulled the film out of the camera and placed it in a black bag/box and then brought it to Jay to ask if the film could still be developed. He said to me he would try and was pretty sure he still could do it. Lo and behold, he developed my film. This was very cool. 3. Last week, I went to get some film developed and brought a camera with a broken winder. In short, since the winder was broken and there was film inside, we couldn't get the film out. Jay took it to the back and propped it open, got the film out, and developed it. He even gave me an old disposable camera that I could take the winder from. Also, pricing is great! $11 for develop, scan, and CD or $13 just for email. Even if I move to a different spot in BK, I'd still come here because of the great experience I've had here. read more

I needed a passport photo for a visa application. So I checked spots nearby the train station I was heading to. Photoreal popped right up. They're great. Climb the stairs to the second floor. This is photography heaven. The guy at the front desk directed me towards the area where photos are taken. The gentleman there was really knowledgable. When I told him I was headed to vietnam he looked up the photo size in a binder. He also told me that although some aren't always rigid, european countries were the toughest. Hmmm interesting. When taking the photo I previewed, but didn't smile. I said let's take another. He explained that they prefer a non-smiling face in a passport photo. Who knew? I did like the second one better though. Printing happened almost instantly and I was in and out of the store in 10 minutes. Price was $10 for two photos. Great shop I'd use them again in an instant! read more

Nothing like discovering you're two passport photos short of a completed application process! Thankfully I found this place via Yelp and it's an EXCELLENT place to snag your passport photos. They are open early and are super friendly. I showed up on a very warm summer morning and I was um, a touch sweaty when I arrived. My friendly photographer gave me some napkins to dry off with and told me to take my time. Thank you for being open early!! read more

My favorite local photo spot. The best place to develop film. They are so nice and accommodating!!

I have been a hobbyist photographer for the last four years. Ever since moved to downtown brooklyn, Photoreal has always treated me incredibly well and respectfully. The man who runs the photo-development and equipment side of things is very kind and is a pleasure to see. I always get fast development and a well formatted set of scans online. Great service. Proud to have been here for years. Prices are fair as well, and as expected of a photo shop. read more

Now, I don't photograph well. My pictures come out looking nothing like me. After a lifetime of carrying around passports and IDs where I look (for the lack of a better word) ghastly, I've resigned myself to this fate. So when the time came to get a new set of passport pictures taken I walked into Photoreal prepared for the worst. Here's how it usually goes. I'm told to stand against the wall, tilt my head ever so slightly to the left, the picture is taken, printed, paid for and I am (resignedly) on my way. But Jay was different. He took my picture, showed it to me, saw the look on my face as I wearily gave it my approval and said "I think we can do better. Do you have time for me to take your picture again?" To which I replied "Certainly kind sir! I'll spend all day in your shop if I have to!". Well actually that is a lie. I was caught completely off guard and just managed to nod my head eagerly. And so we repeated the process not once but twice, until I finally had a picture which was not phenomenal but at least...acceptable. He didn't have to do it. He could have just gone about his business and moved on to the next customer. But thanks to him I have a half way decent photo, and I'm going to carry it around in my passport for the next ten years, this memory of a stranger's kindness. read more

I needed some headshot printed the same day since I got a last minute audition for a commercial. I decided on Photocell for their fair prices and because they have matte paper for 8x10's. Jay was really friendly and helpful. At first the print was a little too dark so he offered to print two lighter copies and only charged me for the two. Great service. I'll definitely be back. read more

There is some confusion in this shop, since two businesses here. One appears to be organized, but the photo development business is unpredictable. The organization of film orders needs to be rectified. I felt trepidation at leaving my disposable cameras here and my fears were confirmed as days went by without a pickup call. I returned to the shop with my only evidence, a receipt number. The shopkeeper looked at it and then rifled through various bins and piles for 15 minutes. I was ready to rummage through the piles of paper myself when he finally found them in some forgotten corner. It was a harrowing experience since these cameras were at my wedding. All that aside, the photos were all developed properly and placed on a single CD. So the order was perfect and I was given a discount for the confusion. I would advise that you deliver your photos or film with all of your contact info attached, and then take a digital picture of your drop off and note the date and shopkeeper's name. read more

For passport photos Photoreal is the cheapest option I found, and it was definitely a smooth experience. The photographer seemed to know exactly what the requirements are, so no concerns about them getting rejected. It took about 10 minutes in total, and they let me see the photo & retake it. The hours are a bit inconvenient, closing at 5:30pm, but they open early so I was able to swing by on my way to work. FYI, the actual storefront itself says 'Remsen Graphics' but there's a big '$6.95 Passport Photos' sign so you'll know you're in the right place. read more
