Awesome local photo shop. You can purchase film, get your rolls/disposable cameras developed, order prints, and even get your passport photos taken. Shops like this are hard to find nowadays. I dropped off a disposable camera and a roll of B&W that I shot with an old Leica. The prints from the disposable were ready for pickup later that day; the other roll took about a week. They developed my film, produced the prints, and digitized as per my instructions. Sadly, most of my Leica roll didn't come out well; what a waste of Ilford HP5! I'll have to get my camera repaired and spend more time with the ol' light meter. And when I've got another roll ready, I know where to bring it. read more

These guys a great! They have the whole setup with professional lights, ideal for passport photos. I got my share of disappointment at Walgreens so I decided to go to a real place that specializes in photo work. I must say I found it at Photoreal. I will come back here in the future and will definitely recommend. Boris, the gentleman who specializes in passport photos and helpful and efficient. The whole process took few minutes and he even nailed the photo on the first shot! Never happened before. And it's only $15! Guys don't go anywhere else for your passport photos. They also do Canadian passport photos, basically they check the requirements thoroughly and make photos and print them accordingly. Best place to go to in BK. These guys know their stuff and the film I get developed always turns out amazing. Jay always follows through for me as well. Here's 3 good examples 1. I accidentally loaded the film wrong into my camera and brought the film to Jay to develop. Since there was nothing on the film, nothing was developed. Instead of charging me though, Jay didn't. Instead, he asked me to bring in the camera to ensure that it was working/ he even taught me how to properly load my camera. (I've been shooting film for awhile, but every once and awhile, a blank will pop up.) This is special care right here because this helpful lesson ensures that I never get a blank roll. 2. I was shooting on another camera that I had just purchased and was taking the roll out of camera. However, somehow the roll broke inside the camera and I accidentally exposed a little bit of the film to light because I needed to check. I pulled the film out of the camera and placed it in a black bag/box and then brought it to Jay to ask if the film could still be developed. He said to me he would try and was pretty sure he still could do it. Lo and behold, he developed my film. This was very cool. 3. Last week, I went to get some film developed and brought a camera with a broken winder. In short, since the winder was broken and there was film inside, we couldn't get the film out. Jay took it to the back and propped it open, got the film out, and developed it. He even gave me an old disposable camera that I could take the winder from. Also, pricing is great! $11 for develop, scan, and CD or $13 just for email. Even if I move to a different spot in BK, I'd still come here because of the great experience I've had here. read more

I needed a passport photo for a visa application. So I checked spots nearby the train station I was heading to. Photoreal popped right up. They're great. Climb the stairs to the second floor. This is photography heaven. The guy at the front desk directed me towards the area where photos are taken. The gentleman there was really knowledgable. When I told him I was headed to vietnam he looked up the photo size in a binder. He also told me that although some aren't always rigid, european countries were the toughest. Hmmm interesting. When taking the photo I previewed, but didn't smile. I said let's take another. He explained that they prefer a non-smiling face in a passport photo. Who knew? I did like the second one better though. Printing happened almost instantly and I was in and out of the store in 10 minutes. Price was $10 for two photos. Now, I don't photograph well. My pictures come out looking nothing like me. After a lifetime of carrying around passports and IDs where I look (for the lack of a better word) ghastly, I've resigned myself to this fate. So when the time came to get a new set of passport pictures taken I walked into Photoreal prepared for the worst. Here's how it usually goes. I'm told to stand against the wall, tilt my head ever so slightly to the left, the picture is taken, printed, paid for and I am (resignedly) on my way. But Jay was different. He took my picture, showed it to me, saw the look on my face as I wearily gave it my approval and said "I think we can do better. Do you have time for me to take your picture again?" To which I replied "Certainly kind sir! I'll spend all day in your shop if I have to!". Well actually that is a lie. I was caught completely off guard and just managed to nod my head eagerly. And so we repeated the process not once but twice, until I finally had a picture which was not phenomenal but at least...acceptable. He didn't have to do it. He could have just gone about his business and moved on to the next customer. But thanks to him I have a half way decent photo, and I'm going to carry it around in my passport for the next ten years, this memory of a stranger's kindness. read more

There is some confusion in this shop, since two businesses here. One appears to be organized, but the photo development business is unpredictable. The organization of film orders needs to be rectified. I felt trepidation at leaving my disposable cameras here and my fears were confirmed as days went by without a pickup call. I returned to the shop with my only evidence, a receipt number. The shopkeeper looked at it and then rifled through various bins and piles for 15 minutes. I was ready to rummage through the piles of paper myself when he finally found them in some forgotten corner. It was a harrowing experience since these cameras were at my wedding. All that aside, the photos were all developed properly and placed on a single CD. So the order was perfect and I was given a discount for the confusion. I would advise that you deliver your photos or film with all of your contact info attached, and then take a digital picture of your drop off and note the date and shopkeeper's name. read more
