The process of the acupuncture needles to my surprise did not have any pain- I could barely feel the needles. Following the needles being in the back from about 20 minutes, Caitlin explained the benefits of cupping and what to expect during the treatment and after. The cupping treatment was uncomfortable at first but then moved to a relaxing state. Caitlin was not high pressure on trying to get return visits- but did explain the benefit in doing so. She was very personable, welcoming and friendly. I would highly recommend seeing Caitlin if you have never experienced acupuncture before or if you are looking for a provider who will give you dedicated time and who shows they care about your health.

To save money, Jade Spring got rid of their higher paid staff. They got rid of the very best masseuse who was loyal to them for about a decade. After she left, I started seeing a different gal who was okay but not nearly as great as Ivy. She also shorted me time which was unprofessional sign #1. I was dressed and in my car 4 minutes before my massage was supposed to be finished. I asked her about it and she confirmed it was supposed to be the full hour and did give me a full hour for my next treatment. In order to use my benefits before they expired, I made weekly appts at 6:45am. I was rightfully charged $80 for missing an appt while I was still getting used to that appt time; Anyhow, I paid the fee, plus I gave the masseuse $20 for her missed tip. That's a reflection of who I am. Last week, I got a vague text with no explanation at 5:30 am telling me they were canceling my 6:45am appt. I asked when we could make it up, because my benefits ran out at the end of the year. She informed me that it would not be possible because they are just too busy. (Hint: they don't need your business). I told her that I was upset that she was okay with canceling last minute when I paid the missed fee + left a tip when I missed my appt. And she said she was sorry that I felt that way. That woman apologized for MY feelings! That's a reflection of who they are. Later that day, I got a call from the owner who said that if my missed appt was an emergency they would refund my money. I didn't bother returning her call. I know where to find the masseuse, Ivy, who is WAY better! And for a naturopath, Sage Med beats this place.

So it was time to find a chiropractor. On a Sunday. Oh joy. I called around several places, but nobody was available today. Eventually I found Dr. Kevin. After looking at his Yelp page(s) and his website (the URL listed on Yelp is wrong), he looked a bit sketchy to me. But we were out of options, so we decided to give him a try. We're so glad we did! It turns out that Dr. Kevin has "clinics" in both Kirkland and Renton. We chose to meet him at the Kirkland clinic today. After/while filling out a relatively lightweight set of paperwork (yay!), Dr. Kevin did a great job listening to our story and he asked good questions. Eventually he asked my husband to move in specific ways, and Dr. Kevin poked / prodded him in some areas to identify the source of the problem. Dr. Kevin took some time to explain his conclusions, as well as his proposed treatment. My husband agreed to the treatment and so we got started with that... After some adjustments, I could tell that my husband's movement had improved quite a bit already. Dr. Kevin rounded out the visit by giving my husband instructions on exercises and how to ice the sore spot over the next couple days. The cost for the visit was reasonable and straightforward. We don't have insurance at the moment, so he swiped our HSA card using his phone. If we have any questions, we can text him. Dr. Kevin strikes me as a solid, honest, easy-going professional. Early on, he mentioned that my husband likely would need a follow-up visit in a couple days, but since Dr. Kevin wouldn't be in Kirkland during that time, we'd likely need to see a different chiropractor. Because my husband's mobility improved a lot during the initial visit, we've decided to drive to Renton for the next visit - even though there are other chiropractors with offices much closer to where we live.

The only one with weekend hours too! He examined me, told me what was wrong, and made sure that I understood everything. Then he went about his chiropractic stuff (this was my 1st chiro appt ever) and after two visits, I felt 70% better. I had a lot of scheduling issues but still decided to keep using them.  We tried calling them every single month since January of this year and they never got back to us once.  When we called them with a different phone number back in early October, they finally decided to pick up the phone (so yes, this clinic will block your number if they do not feel like helping you at all).  10 months later we were told we needed a new referral for the new calendar year so on October 17th, my primary care physician faxed a new referral and they still to this date have not responded back to us even after several calls, voice messages, and emails. Save yourself time and go to a clinic where the staff actually cares about you.  Completely unprofessional, careless and unreliable business.  A health-related small business should be focused toward improving one's well-being and not geared toward financial gains.

I started seeing her weekly for agonizing shoulder pain that I had been experiencing many years without long-term relief with massage and other methods. After only a couple of weeks, the pain lessened, and now it is fully manageable. I continue to see her once a month simply because I find acupuncture relaxing. She is always thoughtful, she asks what might be bothering me at the time and adjusts accordingly. She has never used any methods without first discussing them with me, explaining what it is and how it works, and ensuring I am comfortable with it. I often ask for recommendations for everything I may need whether it is a new doctor, dentist, plumber etc because it is actually coming from someone who has seen/visited/used the service in question! Dr. Ren is very professional, knowledgeable and helpful. She asks what my concerns are, explains what is happening and tried hard to resolve my issues. She has performed cupping on my back to help with the aches and inflammation. She also hits the trigger points for stress which we all have. Often I doze on and off on the table. I had stopped going during Covid but started to see her again for some new chronic pain. She is really focused on trying to alleviate my pain so really appreciate it. This last visit, I can actually feel a release of some of the tightness that is occurring so I hope it continues to diminish as each visit goes! Understand for those who are new to acupuncture, it is not a quick fix. It does take time for treatments to help. And also you will feel something as Dr. Ren is using the needles on the points necessary.
