I woke up one Sunday (July 31, 2016) morning with severe back pain (on a scale of 1 to 10, it was an 11). Later that same day my left foot was suffering from plantar fasciitis, which I had before so I could recognize the symptoms. I started popping pain pills and muscle relaxers on Monday, but nothing really seemed to help. I contacted Dr. Gao on a Wednesday, and she got me in right away. She saw me again Thursday, by which time my pain level was at a 4, and I was no longer taking pain pills. We met again on Friday. By Saturday, I was able to practice yoga (and a vigorous class as well!). We met again the following Monday - one week and a day after this all started. By Tuesday morning, I was no longer having symptoms of plantar fasciitis and my pain level was at a 1. A few years ago, I suffered from plantar fasciitis for 6 months following the advice of a Western medical professional (a sports podiatrist); 6 months of wearing a boot at night, twice daily stretches, and taping my foot. I feel so lucky to have it completely gone in just 8 days. The back pain I had experience had immobilized me. I wasn't able to work. All I did before seeing Dr. Gao was lay on a heating pad and medicate. After my first visit with Dr. Gao, I was back to work for a few hours. After the second visit, I was back to work a full day. After the third visit, I was practicing yoga again. I feel I am a testament to the power of acupuncture, and Dr. Gao is an amazing healer. Everyone keeps asking for a referral after seeing the results of my treatments with her. If you suffer from any pain, especially back pain. Don't want if you've tried other methods. Consider acupuncture and treatment by Dr. Gao. As a post note, I was in a car accident in the summer of 2015. I had tried chiropractic and massage therapies, and both were able to get me to a certain point. But it wasn't until my treatments with Dr. Gao last year that I was able to finally get over that last hump and heal completely. I trust her completely. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Gao for over 9 years. When I started seeing her I had been suffering with migraine headaches; having 4 per month that would cause me to seek need medical treatment each time in order to receive relief from the migraine. It has been eight and a half years since I have had a migraine headache. My family Dr. now refers his patients having pain issues to Dr. Gao after seeing how much her treatments have helped me. My family Dr. recently told me that the patients he has referred to Dr. Gao are reporting the same great success stories to him as I have. Dr Gao is exceptionally skilled in her work, professional, and always so thoughtful in her manner. I initially went to Dr Gao at the recommendation of my Sports Medicine physician in 2006. I had developed severe pain emanating from my right lower back to my ankle, and I had to use walking sticks to travel back and forth to work via the ferry. I had been treated by the sports medicine physician along with an orthopedic surgeon at a major Seattle clinic, had an MRI and 3 ultrasounds but the medical staff were unable to diagnose my condition and I didn't want to use pain medication, hence the recommendation to see Dr. Gao for pain management. Three appointments over the course of 10 days and the walking sticks are only used on hikes. I've continued to see Dr. Gao for general well being, stress, and the lower back pain that occurs when I overdue my garden labor. At the end of each treatment I can count on lack of pain and limber body condition, along with being very relaxed and peaceful. Dr. Chunlin Gao brings decades of experience in both western and eastern medicine and was very highly recommended to me by an entire family I know that have all been treated by her. Despite her many many years as a doctor both here and in China, where she is from, I was initially suspicious that acupuncture didn't actually "work", but despite my skepticism my friends and physicians thought that there was merit in "alternative" medicine so I decided to let go of my disinclination. I have never been happier to be wrong. Dr Gao has changed my life. Not only is she one of the kindest physicians I have ever met, in my case she has helped my western doctors to diagnose problems, that seemed to everyone to be something inexplicable. I now know that I have a chronic condition, and have been able to treat it with western drugs and eastern therapies. I could barely walk and now I am running again. Dr. Gao is incredibly sought after and making an appointment is imperative. Lucky for me (and everyone I suppose) Dr. Gao accepts insurance, and many insurance carriers will cover acupuncture. Dr. Gao is great! I have been receiving treatment from her for knee and back and other pain for 3/4 of a year on a weekly basis. I had never been willing to try acupuncture until I read some studies showing it would help with knee pain. My knee pain was at the point that I was out of options. Then I started seeing Dr. Gao, and within a few weeks there was a lot of improvement. My wife and I just came back from a two week walking tour in Spain. My knee bothered me for one 15 minute period during the whole trip. Before Dr. Gao I'd wondered how I could make such a trip again. My back pain had been waking me up at night, but not since Dr. Gao. I've known Dr. Gao for many years, and recently took my boyfriend to see her to help with the terrible hives that had been bothering him for 2 months. He spent an hour and a half on the table, and felt much better after the treatment. He's been to see her again, and feels even better. After trying Western medicine for the hives, including 2 steroid shots, hydrocortisone creams, and steroid pills for weeks, nothing helped in the long run. That only helped the symptoms. Dr. Gao knew immediately what to do, what the causes were, and fortunately for us - got right to work! I have been seeing Dr. Gao for 2 years. I have seen several acupuncturists before with fair to middling success. Dr. Gao is by far the best. Her advice and treatments are always spot on. Betther than that in many ways is her personable style. She takes an avid interest in her patients treatments and remembers details from session to session so you don't feel like a number, but rather like a real person. She loves what she does and it shows in her work. She has treated me for my back and for digestive issues and she has helped with both. I had been waking up in the middle of the night. I also clenched my teeth a lot. When I visited Dr Gao, she was very patient and caring. She asked me to describe my symptoms, and took notes. I had about 5 treatment sessions with her. After my first session, I felt less tensed. During the second session, I actually fell asleep on the treatment bed!! After the 3rd session, I was able to sleep through the night. At the end of the 5th session, I was no longer clenching my teeth.
