Sadly, it wasn't just gunk in the USB port, but it was corroded enough that it needed replacing, and the parts and labor came to about a hundred and sixty dollars. I was very satisfied with the time it took. From dropping the phone off to completely replacing the USB charger took a little under an hour and a half and then I was on my way. Look I'm an Apple girl all the way but I've come to realize that all Apple users are basically their bitches. Think about how attached you are to that thing and when it breaks you're shelling out the dollars just to get it or the newer version of it back in your hands. I brought my sons pc that I built myself in to have a new power supply installed (didnt want to risk frying everything over a misplaced plug). They said it would be $90 which is very high considering i bought my own power supply but fine. Its a safe bet so i agreed. I go to pick it up and it was $130. When I asked where the other $40 came from they claimed it was for thermal paste ($5 a tube). The thing is, to install a power supply there is absolutely no reason to remove the heat sync so the cpu isnt exposed so you wouldn't need to replace the thermal paste. So the extra charge that I didn't approve and wasn't necessary was forced on me. Furthermore, the fee was "internal cleaning/thermal cleaning" all fans are covered in dust. They weren't even removed much less cleaned so they didnt remove the fan so they didnt remove the heat sync and didnt expose the cpu or the thermal paste. I paid them but they run a disgusting business practice and take advantage of people who dont know any better.
