It will sound random. But we were literally passing through Albany on our way North, and on a Friday morning, we needed to buy a used iPhone to replace the one I was using. A quick search yielded these guys who were along our route, and we made the quick stop. And were the first ones there when the doors opened that morning. Don't let the location or look of the shop fool you, these guys were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. They had a pretty good product selection - I got my used iPhone 7 at a good price (it looked almost brand new). And the counter guy even helped me switch SIM cards, and made sure everything was working to my satisfaction. We were in and out in 20 minutes, and continued along our drive without missing a beat. Sadly, we don't live nearby or I would be a more frequent customer. If you live in the area, then this should be on your list of handy resources for your cell and tablet needs. You hate to pile on a business that's already gone out of business but these people really screwed me. Not long before closing up shop sometime in March 2019, I had my iPhone battery replaced. It was $79.99. Within a month, something in my phone starts rattling around. A short time after that the phone had issues accepting the power to the form the lightening cable. I called Phone Wizard who I discovered had gone belly-up. So I took it elsewhere. These folks opened up my phone and told me the following: "Your battery is is barely connected by a tiny power cord to the rest of the phone. That's what rattling around. Also, whoever put the battery in gave you a used battery that was literally glued in place." Totally unacceptable. I had to pay $60 for another (new) battery because the good folks at Phone Wizard seemingly had at best had no clue what they were doing, or at worst willfully screwed me over. Shame on these people and their business practices. read more

I contacted the Latham store on 3/2/18 because my phone wasn't vibrating.They told me I would need to bring it in so that they could run a diagnostic. I brought it in, they did their test and they confirmed, my phone needed a new vibration motor. They placed an order for the part, told me it would arrive in about two days, and that the repair would cost around $60-$70. They charged me a deposit of around $16. I followed up with them several times asking about the vibration motor over the next 2-3 weeks. Around 3/16/18, they told me the part arrived. I brought my phone in to the Latham store and dropped it off. The clerk told me he wouldn't be able to get to it that night, but it would be a priority the following day. The following day I called them,and they told me that the vibration motor that they had ordered was a dud. They needed to order another one, but that they would get expedited shipping and they would solve the problem ASAP. I followed up again within the next couple of days. They told me that the main board on the phone had a bunch of shorts in it and that it was causing all sorts of problems. I went to the store in person and asked them to just put the phone back the way it was and give it back. (Hell, leave the vibration motor in the trash, at least the phone worked.) When I went to the store, he told me that he didn't actually have the phone. That it was at their Malta location, and that a different tech was looking at the phone. I gave up getting my phone back for the day. When I got home I called the Malta location and I spoke to the lead tech. He told me that he had removed the battery from the phone and that he didn't want to reconnect it. He was concerned that he could damage the phone by putting it back together. I told him that I was frustrated at the length of time that this was taking. He assured me that he could order a new board and replace the one in my phone. He said that it would take 3-4 days. (this was probably about 3/21/18). He stated that this would cost $100-$150. I followed up several times afterward, each time reminding them that they were not giving me accurate estimates of how long shipping would take, or how long repairs would take. On 4/2/18 they told me that they had repaired my phone. I went to the Latham location to pick it up. When the clerk stepped out of the backroom I noticed an overwhelming odor of marijuana. He gave me my phone back. It appeared to work, although it needed to be reactivated with my cell phone carrier. I examined the phone, and checked for my SD card and my Sim Card. The SD Card was missing from the phone. I told the clerk that the SD card was missing. He contacted their other location in Malta and he spoke to the owner. They had found the SD card. I drove to the Malta location immediately. I was incredibly frustrated with the experience that I was having, I wanted my SD card, and I wanted to avoid dealing with them anymore. When I arrived at the Malta location, there was a young boy, about 11 or 12 years old, tending the counter. He didn't look comfortable. I told him why I was there. He gave me my SD card back. I asked if the owner was available. When I spoke to the owner I told him that the Latham store reeked of marijuana, and that I thought his employee was smoking pot in the backroom. He argued with me, telling me that there was no way his employee was smoking pot at work. He said 'his piss is clean'. I moved on. The phone seemed ok. It was turning on. The battery was charged to about 80%. When I got home, I plugged the phone in to charge. The phone displayed a warning that there was moisture detected in the charging port and to unplug it immediately. I tried again the following morning, hoping that this was a fluke. I received the error again. I messaged the store on facebook telling them I expected a full refund. I told them if he didn't grant the refund, I would dispute the charge to my credit card. He then accused me of fraud and told me that he was calling the police. After that, I blocked him. read more

Went in to fix a white flickering screen on an iPhone 6 plus. They said it was the screen. I disagreed but wanted to see if it would fix it. They put a new screen on it and the issue still happened. They said sorry for the inconvenience, let us look at it further and come back later in the day. No problem. So at this point I decided to do my own research on what was causing the issue. I went in and ended up talking to the owner. Without me saying anything he told me the issue was what my research had concluded. He said the bad news is he had to ship it out and it would take up to 2 weeks. I thanked him for being so helpful and friendly. Stated I really needed a work phone in the interim. I also had an iPhone 6 with a busted screen. He said, "I'll fix that for you and you can use it while you wait, when the new phone comes back ill refund you for the screen." He bumped me in line and was able to fix it in 30 minutes because of the inconvenience. So he's basically lending me a phone screen so I can use my iPhone 6 while I wait for my other phone to come in. The staff was great. Due to the amount of time I spent in there I got to meet multiple staff members. All of them were very friendly, didn't mind answering stupid questions and seemed very knowledgeable. Todd, the owner used to own a roofing/construction company. He's the type of guy that knows how to work hard. At least that was the read I got. I've had a bad experience with after-market screen replacement in the past and didn't expect 'Phone Wizard' to be any better. Not only did this place exceed my expectations but they were able to correct the issues caused by my previous screen replacement (3D touch restored and proximity sensor replaced). Phone Wizard installed an OEM screen on my iPhone that has my 3 year old phone feeling and looking new again. Service was quick and so much more affordable than screen replacement elsewhere. I am thrilled and sure to return to Phone Wizard to get a screen protector and maybe even a new battery. Update: My replacement screen is still in great shape, and I stopped by today to get a screen protector. In the past I've had issues with my iPhone screen protector disrupting 3D touch or not covering the whole screen. They custom cut the screen protector to fit my phone while I waited (less than 15 minutes) and it doesn't interfere at all with the 3D touch. Best of all, there are no bubbles. Don't judge this book by it's cover. It's aesthetic is a far cry from an Apple store, but these guys are just as efficient and much less expensive. read more

The staff and management are dishonest and unprofessional. I brought in a Canadian phone from a known carrier, they assured me they would be able to unlock it and went ahead and charged me the unlocking fee. After 3 weeks and many phone calls back and forth, they determined that they could not unlock it, despite having previously assured me they could, but of course didn't feel the need to refund me the initial fee ($75 for no services rendered!) The manager was confrontational and overly defensive, which is evidenced by his immature responses to criticism on this page. When I tried to work with him to find out why there were issues and how to worm around, he kept angrily insisting that it was my fault. I had my phone unlocked at ClensRepair the next day, so don't know what he was on about. Do not recommend. The owner or manager is an idiot. read more

This is a stand up company. Their staff is awesome and great at what they do. They work with you every step of the way. The quality of their work is superb. They back their work with different degrees of guarantees. If there's ever a issuse, they take all available steps to correct it and make you, the customer, happy. I shattered by iPhone screen while out on a run. There were pieces of glass falling out of the screen and could not find anyone who even knew what an iPhone SE was. I called apple who sent me to Best Buy who told me I'd have to mail out my phone. I even drove 30 minutes to the Apple store only to have them tell me they couldn't do anything that day as it would take 2 hours and their "fix" so I didn't cut myself was to put a piece of tape on my screen. I found Phone Wizard who told me come right in. They knew exactly what an SE was, told me it would take 45 minutes and cost about $50, a third of the price Apple charges. I recommend Phone Wizard to anyone who needs any work done on any device. The guys there were professional and knowledgeable. read more

Stood the test of time! I had my precious phone repaired here over the summer and it is still working. There were literally chunks falling out of my screen (that's how lucky no I waited) and the actual case was a little bent. He fixed it and applied a tempered glass screen. I put it in a new case and it is perfect! Very grateful! read more
