If I could give Phone UnBusters and Nick Townley a trillion stars, I would.
After having my phone on the charger all night, I woke up to a completely black screen. If I wiggled the cord just right, I might get a little symbol, but that was it. Nothing showed that it was actually charging. I even laid it on a wireless charging pad and still got nothing.
So began the adventure of trying to find someone who could help me.
I went to T-Mobile first and was told to try Batteries Plus. I drove there, stood in line for about 20 minutes, and then was told I needed an appointment and they were booked until 11 the next morning. I called uBreakiFix on 7 Highway next, and they were so busy they could hardly talk, and when I finally did get a quote, it was a pretty large number.
Then my mom asked Google for phone repair places near us.
Phone UnBusters was our next call -- and our LAST call.
Nick answered the phone himself and told us he could meet us at his location in 45 minutes. From the minute we arrived, he was incredibly thorough. He didn't immediately assume the worst or try to sell me the most expensive repair. He started with the simple things, checked for debris, tested everything he could, removed the back of the phone, tested the battery and actually took the time to figure out what was wrong.
Sure enough, it was the charging port inside the phone.
Because my phone is about four years old, Nick had to order the part. Within 24 hours, the part was there and he had my phone back up and running. Watching him work on electronics is seriously like watching a magician. He knows what he's doing, he's quick, professional and incredibly knowledgeable.
I personally don't even love carrying a phone around with me all the time. But somewhere along the way, our phones became the place we keep our entire lives -- our calendars, appointments, apps, personal information, pictures, videos and memories we can never replace.
I learned that lesson the hard way years ago when another phone quit working and I lost precious pictures and memories of my dad. I still have that phone 17 years later, and after meeting Nick, I can't wait to see if maybe he's the person who can finally bring some of those memories back for me.
But what impressed me just as much as Nick's ability was Nick himself.
He is genuinely one of the most honest, kind and down-to-earth small business owners I have met. He isn't looking for a reason to charge you top dollar. In fact, his prices were far below what I was finding elsewhere. He wants to figure out what is actually wrong, fix it and treat people fairly. That is becoming harder and harder to find.
And then there is Nina.
Nick recently rescued the sweetest dog named Nina. For anyone who isn't a dog person, don't worry -- she stays safely in her kennel unless you're like me and want nothing more than to love on her. She was truly the cherry on top of both of my visits. Meeting Nick AND Nina turned what started as an incredibly frustrating situation into such a wonderful experience.
Phone UnBusters is hands down where I will go from now on for anything electronic that Nick can fix.
Nick, you are simply an amazing human being. I wish there were more business owners -- and more people -- like you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your honesty, kindness, incredibly fast turnaround and unbeatable prices.
You didn't just fix a charging port. You gave me back something that holds pieces of my life that I can't replace.
I would recommend Nick Townley and Phone UnBusters a TRILLION times over. read more
