This review is purely for Zog's volleyball league. This league is extremely beginner level. Lots of…read morework teams and new players. Occasionally you will have a couple people who come into this league knowing how to play volleyball but are there anyways for a ego boost. If you are new to volleyball, read here. Yes this league may be a good starting point as it's very beginner level play, it's good for work teams and meeting new people. But you won't want to be here for long. There are the occasional try-hards that will come into the league to feel good about themselves by hitting hard and running plays on a net that's lower than women's height. Another downside is that some of these players think they can play but in fact they are very dangerous and make it very unsafe. Landing under the net and causing ankle sprains when you block is very common here. So play smart, watch out for others. If you have some volleyball experience and understand the game, read here. This league is very poorly ran. You have one ref that does not understand the rules of volleyball. No calls are made, clear doubles where the ball is spiraling, crazy players who jump and land under the net, players touching the net and lifts. You call your own lines, so in and out calls are all on you and the other team. The ref literally is there to just blow the whistle for serve and then flip the score. They dont even have anyone setting up the nets for you as well, so you need to set it up yourself. The net is literally lower than womens height. So if you're here playing with some new friends who are learning to play, have some integrity to play to the level of others and be safe. I played in this league before it became Zog (Dynamic sports) id say it has changed but not for the better. Same stuff as it was 5-6 years ago. If you are looking for some better play there are other leagues out there. Campbell Community center used to have a good one they may or may not still be running. Then there's IVL if you're looking for competitive play. Zog by far is the most expensive league and the total amount of games you play in the season is less then all these other leagues I mentioned. So if you're factoring bang for your buck. Zog is definitely not that.

First, Zhang W.'s review is accurate. Give it a read as well…read more My daughter played for MVCC. We were initially excited for her to play for the club . She made the team for a specific position. However, the first season the coach instantly moved her to another position that she has never played. Just so happens to be that the best player on the team also played that position. Of course, in the first tournament our daughter basically didn't play until the last game. Naturally since we are paying quite a bit for our daughter to play at this club, we talked to the coach and ask what can our daughter do to improve. I don't assume she should play if she is not as good as the next person. I have played competitive sports and understand the concept of earning your spot. But, the club and coach should give feedback so we can improve her game. Heck, it's on their website: "Our Mission is to develop well-rounded individuals through the sport of volleyball, focusing on skill development, physical fitness, and character building." Instead, this made things worse. The coach told us our daughter does not know the position. We told the coach... true, you moved her to this position. We asked why she was moved to this position if you didn't think should could play it. Crickets. This coach may have been a great player, but it did not transfer to coaching. The coach basically didn't like our daughter after we spoke up and that was the season in nutshell. The coach then made sure to ignore our daughter at future tryouts, and we believe, the coach also told other coaches at the club that we were "troublemakers" for speaking up. I should also mention that this coach also had their own daughter on the team and interestingly enough got a lot of playtime. As for the tryouts, the experience was terrible. Read Zhang's review here. 100% accurate. The worst part about it is asking girls to stay to receive an email if they made the team. But, it's done in person so that everyone can see how they didn't make the team. Real classy MVVC. Also, want to mention that if you know or are friends with a coach or someone employed by MVVC your chances of making a team improve greatly. So, not every person that is making the team deserves to be on the team. There is an integrity issue here. By the way, you pay to attend tryouts at many of the clubs. Many clubs do this. Basically, our daughter learned from MVVC to not speak up or you get retaliation. And, it's who you know. Not what you know. We reached out to the club director several times and never heard back. And, this was not to complain. Just general items. It was clear they did not care.

The stair master is always full every time I can go to the gym. And they still haven't fixed some of the machines. I also REALLY REALLY wish there was more Pilates classes available over the weekend. This whole ClubWaka organization seems as though they care solely about "social points", athleticism (if you can even call it that) is a long off secondary. I'm disappointed at the very fraternity-esque mentality and vibe. Refs cut games short often, most half caring about the game for the time they are actually there. The "organizer" Travis, is surprisingly argumentative when approached with game related discrepancies or questions from team members attempting to understand the rules of the game amidst moody refs and flexible guidelines/ rules. He seems to have zero desire to defuse a situation or provide constructive feedback- any amount of what I would expect as a semblance of customer service/ experience assurance is nonexistent with him. A simple, "how can I make this situation better?" would do, no need to fight to be right in every conversation. Hey, we're not trying to get too serious about each game here but even when you're playing for fun it's still frustrating when the rule that applied last week seems null and void the next week. What did my money actually go towards? At least at a 5K (maybe $60) I actually get a good workout and my contribution goes someplace constructive. I'll be better off next season hitting fields with my own group of friends in this league who feel exactly the same way. A kickball league who drinks? More like a drinking league, that kind of dabbles in kickball. If you missed out on your college years and want a frat experience, this is for you!
