I've had these guys in my bookmarks since 30/12/2009. Can't believe I haven't reviewed them yet…read more These guys saved my hide in 2009. Our water heater died on the 23rd of December and they were able to fit us in on Christmas eve. They did a good clean installation, the owner got the major pieces (1/4 turn ball taps) done first, replaced & properly sealed the Y tube that connects the exhaust with the furnace exhaust, the guy who sweated the majority of the copper adjusted the purge valve tube to give us reasonable access to the furnace it runs around (old townhouse with very poorly planned everything), and he also returned within minutes when I noticed a pinhole leak in a pipe. No problems since. Planning to get these guys back to replace the furnace when I return to Vancouver in a year or so. HIghly recommended, not because they fit us in on Christmas eve, but because they did the job right and took good care of us. A year and a bit later everything they did is holding up very well.

We purchased our house a year ago and have been enjoying our radiant floors. One day during the…read morecold snap, we noticed that the floors weren't emitting any heat. AB Tech was recommended by a friend of ours so I called Bruce and explained the situation. Good news/bad news: it was a Friday and he was in the middle of a big job and couldn't come until Monday. Then an hour later, he called to say he was breaking away from the big job to come look. He noted that the boiler wasn't serviced in a while and the pilot needed replacing. He spent a couple hours on this when I know he had to get back to the big job, but he was committed. He just came back today to finish the service. I'm grateful to Bruce and his crew for taking the time to help us. It would have been a cold weekend.

Honesty and integrity are the hallmarks of any business, and they fall on the top of the list of…read morecriteria that consumers search for when attempting to locate a service provider for home repairs. We have used 1st Call to re&re a Pressure Reducing Valve as well as install a toilet while, and both times, we have found their personnel to be knowledgeable, well-trained, punctual, personable, informative, approachable, and professional. Their staff were helpful in that they provided some very useful advice such as what one might expect post work being completed without our asking, which is a rarity...i.e., such a that our water may be discoloured post the work being completed; or you may hear some noises from taps when using them as there will be air pockets that need to work themselves through the system. As well, experiential advice was offered, such as, we need to ensure we turn the water supply line to the toilets to fully open, and not leave them 1/3, 1/4, or 1/2 open, to avoid future issue with the valve. Pricing for their jobs are fair, as their labour rates are one of the more competitive in the market, and their rates for parts, although I found them to be on the higher side in terms of margins for one part, seem to be the industry standard for the most part. The most important question after dealing with a service provider is would you call them again and/or recommend them to your family and friends, and, in this case, for 1st Call, it would be a resounding "yes".
