She literally got off started working again then looked up again and asked "Have you been helped?" BRO you saw me WALK IN and wait right in front of your desk. Then proceeded to go "Oh yeah wait that's my job" YEAH OBVIOUSLY. THEN come to find out they're liars as well because how are they going to say they had asked a hospital for my kids previous medical history and say they had it all, scheduled her procedure, come to the day and they say they can't do it because ACTUALLY THEY NEVER GOT HER RECORDS- then how TF did it get "approved" for this surgery just for us to come ON THE DAY and say no we can't. Making you waste your time always changing your appointment times. Definitely don't recommend this place if you can take your kids somewhere else do it. Had made an appointment in their office on a Friday for my 15 month old because I had concerns about one of his teeth. The appointment was THREE days later that following Monday. Because they weren't open on Saturday or Sunday so i had no choice but to schedule our appointment for the next availability they had. I had missed their confirmation call the same day I had made the appointment. Honestly I didn't think it was necessary for me to have to confirm an appointment when I had just made that appointment hours prior. By the time I had heard their voicemail their office was closed. So unfortunately I could not call them back. Coming Monday I had to inform my job days in advance to take the day off of work and then I drove 40 minutes to get to this office only to show up and they tell me they canceled my appointment because I didn't confirm over the phone on Friday. And I'm assuming the girl in the front desk was the one that canceled my appointment and was possibly the one that called me too as well. When I came in she also had an attitude with me. They lost 3 patients that day. The care there was barely average. But I like to think of myself as a loyal patient that's the only reason why I kept coming back to them. I took my almost 4 year old daughter today to have a procedure for dental work done that involved anesthesia. The doctor was amazing (wish I remembered his name, my nerves were everywhere) and the coordinator Olivia, and the anesthesiologist (also don't recall his name) were both so great! The front staff and assistants were all so sweet with me. Olivia did so well to help calm my nerves and ease my mind as I was a little shaken up knowing and realizing my daughter was being put under (such a scary thing for a parent and a little one to go through) and despite me not following the rules (literally wasn't even thinking when it happened) by allowing my daughter to take a sip of water (big no no when going under) and delaying my appointment by 2 hours (completely my fault) the anesthesiologist was so sweet and told me he was glad I was honest and it was no problem to swap me with the appointment that was supposed to go after us so that we could wait the required 2 hours to allow the water to pass. I was so embarrassed I let this slip my mind and that I caused a bump in the process, but they were all so kind and didn't make me feel as if they were upset with me or rude at all. I keep seeing comments and reviews about anesthesiologist or staff being rude but I had absolutely no problems. They were so sweet and professional with me and not to mention quick! read more

Great experience this morning! The staff were friendly and attentive! Loved the waiting room and the murals all over the place to make it bright and cheerful for little ones. They were very quick to get us in and helpful with answering all my questions. My son got a cleaning and even tho he is not the easiest kid to work with they stayed positive and patient with him. We will be sticking with these guys! Could not have asked for a more efficient and accommodating staff! read more

Receptionist need work. They stated they confirmed the follow up appointment the same day my son had his appointment??? (How do you make a follow up call the same day he was seen?)....When I spoke with them over the phone and told them that was not true, she kept saying no, no,no, would not listen. Stated if we wasted the doctor's time again we could no longer book him. I tried to let the receptionist know they told us the appointment was on Thursday not Wednesday she simply said, I don't know what happened there.....it was their mistake and they tried to blame it on the patient.... They need better communication and organization themselves, also some customer service training would help them significantly. The doctors are awesome, it's just everyone else. read more

Saying things like he might wake up freaking out stuff like that I was just beside myself he did not seem kid friendly at all. So after he was done we go into the room and my son was afraid to lay down i asked him can u rise the chair then lay it back down and all irritated he says we don't need to lay him down grabs the back of my child's head and squeezes the mask on his face so tight until he's limp as im still trying to lay my kid down tells ne to give him a kiss quickly and go to the lobby and wait. It all made me very uncomfortable so I said "U NEED TO LOOSEN UP A LITTLE BIT I DONT LIKE HOW AGGRESSIVE U ARE BEING WITH MY CHILD AND HE SAID WHAT I REPEATED MYSELF AND HE SAID HES CANCELING WOKE MY SON UP FROM ANESTHESIA ANHAD A NURSE WHEEL HIM OUT THE DOOR THST WAS THE MOST UNPROFESSIONAL SITUATION SITUATION I HAVE EVER DEALTVWITH. Then to top it off they call me the next day to cancel my daughter's upcoming appointment and tell me that they won't be seeing us anymore I have to find somewhere else to go all because I said something to the anesthesiologist that I wasn't comfortable with in my wrong here I should be able to speak my mind these are my children if they cared about their well-being they would have finished the dental work see how he was already under anesthesia. The anesthesiologist needs to find a job more suitable to his liking. They need to get rid of him he's bad for buusness. And the dentist should have been man enough to handle the situation customers are always right. Even if their not u treat them all with respect he should have came out and said something or finished the dental work . I have been taking the kids here since their very first dentist appt... both boys have had some work done and one has had some major work with GA and I was very happy with the procedures... even being a nervous mom. The only thing that makes me give this place less than 5 stars is the wait time... they tell u to come 15 early for a "check in" time, but then u end up waiting 30 minutes AFTER your apt time so you end up waiting for just about 45 minutes! Then they take u back and an assistant does the brushing... then sometimes you have to wait for a hygienist... THEN a dentist finally comes... so it's always like a 2 hour adventure... secondly, the parking up front is disastrous! There is no space between the lot and the sidewalk so if there is more than one car you can't get in or out and this is where the "disability" parking is so I'm screwed. Then today... I watched the dentist take off his gloves after having his hands in a kids mouth and "shoot" them to the trash... and missed... and LEFT them there!! All in all I really do like this practice... and most the staff is great... just a Few turn offs that get to me... read more

She has a tooth that is stuck under the Gum it has been there for 7 months it hurts and since we can not afford braces at this moment they won't help her or refer her to a surgeon. Amazing. The staff is always so kind and helpful. The dentist and assistants are very patient with kids. I've been taking my 7 year old her since she was able to come in and now my 1 year old. I love that they have all kinds of distractions for the kids and take their time when they know the child is a little nervous. We have had two visits to this dental office (Dr. Jacobson is our dentist). I was immediately impressed by the office staff. They are friendly and sociable, and even remembered specifics about my child on our second visit a month later. I love that kind of attention to detail! The waiting room is adorably decorated in a pirate theme. There are touch-screen computers with sports video games that even the little kids can easily play, plus a number of other activities to keep the kids engaged. I swear, I'm thinking about bringing my son here during the hot summer - just to play! ;) During our consult and cavity-filling session with Dr. Jacobson, I was incredibly impressed. He was caring and genuine, and took the time to explain all of our options in great detail. He knew we had switched dentists because of their aggressive treatment plan, and was very considerate of our comfort level with the procedure. I am so happy that we switched dentists. We use Dr. West in a pinch, but Dr. Sorensen is our dentist. We've been coming here for a few years and I have several children so we have had tons of visits with an array of dental issues. Recently, during a procedure Dr. S. needed to do more than what was scheduled and paid for so I was sent out of the room, while my child was all hopped up on nitrous, to consent and pay for the new procedure. I was uncomfortable leaving him, but I understand that they have a pay first policy. Dr. S isn't really chatty, but Dr. W. is very outgoing. Nothing negative there, just different personalities. As to cleanliness, I've never seen anything dirty or out of place in the procedure area. They treat special needs children with the utmost dignity and respect. They do not push orthodontics-they have one in-house- and push that until the permanent teeth are in there isn't usually a need. Overall we love the two doctors mentioned and that's why we return. The downsides--the waiting room is a bit grimy. The computers are all jacked up-either fix them or take them out. Just an annoyance, not a reason to remove the star. The reason this place gets four stars is the wait time for procedure appointments. Dr says this is a serious cavity, come back to get it filled ASAP. Good idea, except you're booked solid for 4 months. That has happened 3 different times. That's ridiculous. Furthermore, the appointments are pretty stacked as well. I've watched him do six of my kids and 3 or 4 others all one right after another. Just move from chair to chair. Meaning you get 4 minutes of time and he's got to move on. It feels rushed although he isn't rushing through the exam. You know how it is when there's a line behind you. You don't want to take up a lot of time, but want to be properly served. Maybe it's just me, but the office policy of treating 9 patients in an hour seems off. BUT, that being said it doesn't affect the wait time. The wait times in the waiting room aren't a big deal. They are fast and efficient at getting those 9 patients through the process! You take the good with the bad, right? They are close to my home and for routine cleanings-5 stars! read more

Love them! We have been going to Phoenix Pediatric Dental for about 3 years. I take all 3 of my children here and we wouldn't go anywhere else. We live in Chandler and love it so much that it's worth the drive every 6 months to go here! Dr. Dan is always very helpful, encouraging, listens to all of my concerns and takes his time with my kids. My kids love him, are never afraid, and haven't noticed any pain when they've needed a filling or tooth pulled. The hygienists are friendly and talkative and they all obviously work great as a team. The decor is really cute and we spend any minimal waiting time finding the objects painted into the "clouds" on the wall. Cute! read more

Time for some honesty. I'm a dentist and was giving my daughter an exam when I saw in her xrays that she needed more extensive work then I'm equipped to handle (not being a pediatric specialist), especially considering that my daughter doesn't do well in the chair even for me (which is beyond frustrating, I assure you). I was lucky enough to have a friend refer me to Phoenix Pediatric Dental and Ortho because they were able to get her in for an exam and sedation treatment and get all her treatment done while she was out. Very grateful for the quick treatment and sedation that they were able to perform in-house! My problem with this business is the billing department. I have always had the same 2 insurances. They would take months to process a basic cleaning which is normal. Then they would send me a bill. I'd call them to tell them how they did wrong. Then they would fix it. Until the last time I took my son in for a basic cleaning. For the first time with two dental insurance plans I owe money! I ask to speak with an owner about the issue but was never connected. I've since gone to anther kids dentist and haven't had to educate any billing staff. My bills are a zero balance the first time they process it. read more

I was not very pleased with my experience at this dentist. My son who was four when we went for our first visit, needed to get some cavities filled. We had our appointment in September and didn't get scheduled to fill his cavities until March the next year. When we went back, my son didn't do well with the procedure, and was crying. Instead of comforting him, and trying to calm him down, they quickly shut the door to the room we were in and told him that he needed to stop crying because he was scaring the other children. I expected them to handle the situation a little better considering they work with kids and I'm sure they're bound to have children that are scared and don't handle the dentist well. They couldn't finish the procedure and scheduled us to come back in May...two months later. Dentist Dr. Haul (owner) totally un professional when it comes to communication and acknowledging parents in the same treatment room as our own children. Not happy how I was treated today. My son was sedated and they insisted on nitros oxygen for more. What do they not understand when you say I know my son and he will do good without it. So pushy on that! Just took my 4 yr old daughter here this morning for some dental work and couldn't be happier. A friend of mine referred me to them and I was very nervous because of what needed to be done and they made me feel very comfortable with everything. She had to get 9 fillings and 3 crowns and had to be put to sleep. They were awesome with me and my daughter. She's in no pain and they even called me a few hours after we got home just to check on her. I will def make them my daughters regular dentist from now on. They always over book so they are always running behind. The staff is rude. Also, they get upset when you question what is being used on your child. Had a bad experience when having our teenager evaluated for braces. The staff was young and unprofessional. They did not listen to our needs. We felt like we were getting the hard sell to get braces with them rather than them working with us on what her true medical needs are. Upon calling back with follow up questions, I was told they couldn't find her file and it took 2 days for them to find it and return my call. I took one of my kids here for dental work. The initial visit was quick and easy. My only complaint is when we went back for dental work it took a long time. We were scheduled for 10am, they called and said to come later. I arrived at noon, waitied until almost 2 before we got in. Everything from there went smoothly. I understand that they take their tie with each patient and some things are unforeseen and take longer. My son's last dentist tried telling us that our 9 year old who has only lost 4 baby teeth needed braces, so naturally we looked elsewhere since that notion was absolutely absurd. So after some searching I decided to give this place a try and I am very happy I did. The staff is extremely friendly, the waiting room is beautiful and equipped with game centers for the kids while they wait. The Doctor was gentle and good at explaining everything and was shocked when I told him about the last dentist and the braces. He also thought it would be ridiculous. All together it was a good experience for my son and I. I would recommend this one to anyone needing a dentist they know isn't going to tell them they need things they don't just to make a buck. read more

In-network for HMO plan but claim they are not. My son has been coming here for years and we've now been turned away due to a change in dental plan, he is now on an HMO. When I called our insurance provider they informed us that Phoenix Pediatric Dental is indeed in-network on our HMO dental plan. When I called the office back again to see if they would still see my son for his cleaning the following day, they informed me that they have "never been in network with an HMO plan". I have documents in front of me that say differently, and even called our insurance to confirm. They confirmed- this dentist IS in network and could see my son if they wanted to. I have since learned that many in-network providers will turn away patients using HMO insurance because they do not collect much profit from the insurance. I really hope this is not the case. If they are not in network, then why is their practice listed FIRST on the list of in-network dental providers for Phoenix? Owner: please call United Healthcare and remove yourself from the HMO network if you don't want HMO patients. read more

Took all 3 of my kids here for about 4 years and thought it was ok. Then last year I had two HORRIBLE visits there. To the point where 2 of my children were terrified to go back to any dentist! One appointment was set for my 6 year old son to get a filling. I sat in the room for this and the dentist gave him the shot to numb him, and then immediately started in on the filling. My son said it was hurting (obviously the area was not numb yet or he wouldn't have felt a thing) the dentist didn't stop just told him to hang in there and even seemed like he was laughing at how upset my son was. Ughhh. Wish he would have just taken the time to let the area get numb but he was probably in a hurry to move on to the next patient. "Time is money" is apparently the motto at this office. Then about a week later I had to bring my daughter in to get a cavity filled. That was all that was supposed to be done, This is all that I had been informed of, and the only thing I had signed paperwork for. Somehow the dentist decided that without my permission or even consulting me, he was going to put a crown over a completely different tooth! The tooth had been chipped and I took her to a cosmetic dentist to have it fixed. He literally ground off the other dentists work (which insurance didn't cover and I paid out of pocket for) and then stuck a crown over it!! I was mortified, as was my 9 year old daughter who was in so much pain! She wasn't expecting anything major like that, just one little filling was supposed to be done. They had no consent! RIDICULOUS. I am appalled at there lack of business ethic and disgusted at the way the arrogant dentist acted. He said the other dentists work was not done correctly. WELL, IF that was the case, you should have taken an X-ray, showed it to me and then asked for consent to "fix" what was supposedly not done correctly. Sorry for such a LONG review, they were just literally THAT BAD. I had to let everyone know who took the time to read this: PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILDREN HERE.
