I was required to have a referral from my primary care doctor in addition to my main referral from my neurosurgeon. I'm suffering from hydrocephalus and need a lumbar puncture. I was assured from a scheduler that was within their capacity for a referral to a hospital for outpatient After completing their requirements I was informed that a head neurosurgeon had to approve me before I could get an appointment. Had another great appointment with Dr. Brandon Woods. Of course, his staff is important to this most favorable experience. He has been my medical advocate and consultant for over 10 years. I love this man. Dr. Brandon Woods has helped me through an almost fatal motorcycle accident with a myriad of neurological damage to my body. And Psyche. Went in to see Dr. Woods to establish myself as a patient after moving here from out of state. We had a bit of trouble finding the office among the buildings there. We had parked in back not knowing we'd have to walk clear around to get to the entrance. We finally found it after a few minutes. Dr. Woods is a bit loud, which may be off-putting to some. His questions were very direct and we quickly filled him in with the various issues that made having a neurologist important. It took over 5 weeks to get an appointment for my 88 year old mother with Dr. Woods at 606 N. Country Club Dr, Mesa. The office was dark, they had NO LIGHTS on, no music, no TV. As another reviewer here said, the office is rundown. IT FEELS DIRTY. It was small and sparse, not enough chairs for all waiting and no decor or tables, old linoleum floor. When I confirmed the apt with staff the day before, they said come 30 minutes early to fill out forms. I told them I filled them out online. She said that link doesn't work. So we went 30 minutes early and I again said I filled out forms online, she said well let me check, oh yes, we have them. At our appointment time, there were still 4 patients in the waiting room ahead of us. Staff was gossiping, I had to get their attention to say we were leaving. It was so uncomfortable and unprofessional, we couldn't stay there another minute. Staff said it will take a long time to reschedule. But we won't. I wish I had taken a photo. WILL NOT GO BACK. Run down office in a roughy old office building. I actually felt a bit weird walking in here since it looked like something from a movie where something not reputable is going on. The offices has unorganized stuff stacked around and is dirty. I felt like I visited the hood... They did the test on my nerves and I was given a diagnosis of mild carpal tunnel and that I have nerve issues from my back also affecting me. Over a month has gone by now. I have never been contacted or informed of what I should be doing to help my situation. Odd place overall and I feel like nothing was achieved by my visit at all. The office is small and very rundown. Receptionist chair was tattered and worn. Chairs in waiting room had rips. Exam room was in need of paint and drawers had no handles. Holes in the walls. Dr. Arora maybe spent 5 minutes with me. Very blunt. I am afraid to have EMG done there. Too dirty. Oh and a huge garbage can in hallway by waiting room. Paint was peeling everywhere. i have never been so disappointed in patient care. this place has been neglecting my care since November. I was seen then, had some test results but when they received my test results they could not give them to me due to my insurance? not sure how I could be seen three times and all of a sudden couldn't get seen. I've called them more than a dozen times while them asking for this same online referral that my pcp has sent them but they still couldn't see me. it took me until the 20th call, after telling them how ridiculous this is.. patients should not be treated this way... they hung up on me! then I called them and told them I've been suffering from seizures and that I am gonna switch providers... thst same day they call me back with my test results and wanted to schedule an appt. Do not go to this practice it is a awsuit waiting to happen. My review about this organization stand. After severing my business relationship with this practice I saw a neurosurgeon who clearly noted the need for immediate neck surgery for an impingement on my spinal cord. There was no need for any lower back surgery. The Phoenix Neurological Institute was WRONG. There was zero need to subject me to two very painful and debilitating exploratory nerve block procedures on my lower back. The sole purpose behind this organization is to take advantage of the AHCCCS and the Medicare system by performing unnecessary procedures on patients. They take advantage of patients that have been dealing with chronic pain with promises for a pain-free future. I have seen Dr. Grainger for years at Neurological Physicians of Arizona. I don't know why the change to Phoenix Neurological Institute was a horrible mistake. The Lady at the front desk in the Gilbert office is pleasant and efficient. When you call, this guy answers the phone who is rude and condescending. He wants to know everything, yet he doesn't know anything. I need to speak to a lady in the office at Gilbert but he claimed he could not transfer the call to her. He continued asking me to tell him why I was calling and that he could help me. I repeatedly told him he could not, he did not know about my visit on Monday with Dr. Grainger, and our conversation with Rena. Finally, he said he would send her a message to call me. He did not take my name. I called back after waiting 30 minutes. He said he had not talked to me and he claimed he had only gotten one call. I reiterated our conversation and asked my, (I gave him when he answered) He said he sent Rena the message and told me if I would not let him help me then I would just have to wait on her to call me. He claimed he did not know her extension, asked me if I knew, and said he could not transfer the call to her. Continued to try and get me to tell him why I was calling, he could take care of whatever I needed. If I would not let him help me then I would just have to wait on Rena to call me. I do not know if he sent a message to her to have her call me. He was so RUDE and CONDESENDNG. Something needs to be done with this organization or they will lose most of their patients. Never even got to see the doctor. The "receptionist" was wearing a hoody and the lady sitting next to her was clearly on a personal call talking loudly "No you shut up" "OMG really, no way" and so on. I had to use the restroom, and was in pain. The hoody girl would not a buzz open the door until she found out I needed to leave a urine sample. Which was weird since I was there for a nerve problem. As it turned out I was made to wait because the two girls in the back were to busy joking around. The tossed a cup at me and to me to leave in the metal door. No other instruction at all. She did not even look at me in the eye when she spoke. Then I was final in the doctor's office, the so called assistant was very rough taking my blood pressure. Jerking my arm around, and placing on the edge of a table so that my elbo was jammed up. Then I was taken to a room and the same lady, who was rude and rough with me says "so what brings you here" I asked if she was the doctor. She say no, I said I would wait for the doctor. She said "I am the assistant you have to tell me" I said "I am not talking to you about my problem, you are not the doctor" she glared at me then jumped up snatched her papers off the table and slammed the door. I sat for half a second and thought " No! I am not going to be treated this way" I came out of the room and said "Excuse me, you just slammed the door on me" she said "No sir I did not" as she was hurrying up to walk away from me. I checked in at the front desk and they informed me where the office was. Naturally I was upset because here I come all the way from Casa Grande and they couldn't give me the courtesy to call me. As soon as I told her that my phone rang and it was from the neurologist office asking me to reschedule. Against my better judgement I rescheduled. My first official visit wasn't any better. When I got there the office was in horrible shape but I thought maybe the rooms weren't so bad. I was wrong, the condition was worse than the lobby. I found the front staff to be very helpful at both and the back staff and Dr. Woods were a pleasure. Dr. Woods is a caring, compassionate doctor. I read these reviews prior to my visits and was rather concerned. After my experiences, I now highly question the motive behind the bad reviews. Were those people denied care because they failed drug screening? Were they exhibiting drug seeking behavior? Maybe they were the abrasive ones? If I could, I would give them 0 marks. Dr. Qureshi has absolutely zero bedside manner, he was in the room with me for less than 5 minutes on my initial visit. When I was explaining my triggers for the Migraines he was completely disinterested. He said to get an MRI, it has been 6 days and I'm still waiting for the order to be sent. The staff is completely incompetent. They took my blood pressure and did not even have the right size cuff. I love the Dr Foltz but the people that work with him are the worst. My sleep machine broke and I called then at 8 am on Friday they called me 12:45 saying I can loner but they close at 1. Dr. Qureshi was insulting, condescending and rude, full of derogatory comments. He discounted all findings by other doctors and called them incompetent, then clearly lied to me about my lifelong condition and it's cause. He ran no tests, obviously had no knowledge about my condition or showed any intention of offering help with prevention. His office staff misrepresented their abilities and lacked professional conduct. I was the only patient in the office and waited over 90 minutes before I was seen by the doctor. The office is old and worn with outdated equipment. BP cuff for a child was all they had, was ancient and obviously wouldn't fit my arm. Nice. Both my daughter and I are experiencing signs and symptoms of MS and/or Fibromyalgia. We both called to schedule appointments. I got Dr. Woods and my daughter got Dr. Qureshi. My Dr was very personable and funny and was concerned and willing to find answers. My daughters Dr (Qureshi) was the complete opposite. I asked to switch my daughter over to Dr woods and the REFUSED. I was given incorrect diagnostic information (verified by 2 other doctors) that could have cost me dearly as far as my well being goes. Kim tried to tell me that because she is in pain management she "totally understands"! Not until you have lived in my body or the other countless bodies that suffer chronic pain will you ever understand! She was rude and unsympathetic. Dr. Hatgis has the "bedside manner" of a gorilla! My mother and I both see Dr Woods. We enjoy his down-to-earth characteristics. He keeps us common relax as if we are family or friends. While taking care of our medical issues. Dr Qureshi is outstanding. I feel lucky to have found a specialist in whom I have so much confidence to manage my neurological condition. However, if I could give a separate rating for the medical staff at the chandler office out of which he sees patients, I would give them 1 star. This office staff are the most unpleasant and difficult staff i have ever come across. Trying to get them on the phone, and dealing with them in office is very frustrating. Absolutely the worst upper management I have ever dealt with. Yes on several occasions I did have to wait for very long periods of time but the staff and the NPA Armenta were always helpful and seem to do what they could for me. In February I received a discharge notice And was advised of what I could do to correct the inaccurate information. I took those steps immediately upon leaving the office and called back to set up a new appointment with the information I had received and I was told to call back the following week...3 weeks and 9 phone calls later I am told Stephan has advised them not to make any appts for me ... so I began trying to reach him to speak with him directly .... 2 weeks and 6 messages later I asked to speak to someone above him ... he decided to call then (haha) which I refused his call and still requested upper management Anupam or Bobby .... I was leaving a text message almost daily and calling every 2-3 days and was continued to being told "they are working on it" by staff members .... then my text messages were no longer being answered with a confirmation that the text had been received when I called to ask about this I was told that all of my messages and text were being rerouted and sent direct to upper management... Well it is now June I have never once heard from management I am filing a complaint with the Arizona Health Dept against them for complete negligence after being told countless times someone would call me and I can't wait for the interview they give when AZ Investigates contacts them. read more

I was told to continue to take a medication that was never called in and had to argue to get the medication filled. Over the last 12 months I have had to call in 7 times about an error with a prescription they have submitted. This is the reason i stopped using their service. My experience with Barrows has been horrible and very unprofessional. We had to wait to schedule an appointment for over four months for my elderly father, which I totally understand. We finally met with Dr. Guidos and Dr. Moguel-Cobos on our first appointment and they told us my dad needed to have a cognitive test and MRI before the final appointment to go over results and a plan. We did both tests, and when we came in for the final results months later, Dr Guidos told us that he had the results of the MRI, but we still needed to have the cognitive testing done, which was the first testing we did! He had NO record of the testing, nor had he reviewed my dad's file before meeting with us. I happen to have a copy of the test, and I told him to make a copy, and feel free to go outside and review it, so he's prepared for our appointment before Dr. Moguel joins in. Since that appointment, my dad has had anxiety and they can't prescribe or treat him because I was told he now needs to see their staff psychiatrist, Dr Bollam. The nurse asked me why we saw Dr Moguel and Dr Guidos? She told me that Dr Moguel specializes in mobility disorders, such as Parkinson's Disease, which my father does not have a mobility disorder, so she wasn't sure why we were seeing him? I let her know that we were assigned a doctor, and I feel it's really up to Barrows to make sure we are seeing the right doctor! Now we are months out for seeing the psychiatrist, which I hope is more on top of things. To think this is a world-renowned institute, so I'm very disappointed in how unprepared and unprofessional they are. Not very comforted by their team of doctors either.
