Rosson house

This past week we were in phoenix for a wedding and our bride, being a bit spooky herself, arranged for us to go on this ghost tour and we had a blast! Lucas was our guide and he was charming, kind and very informative. We were a group of sassy girls and he handled our sass and played along while still keeping us on track and focused. We had warned Lucas ahead of time that I had a knee injury and he was so careful to make sure I was accommodated and had places to sit whenever possible and checked in with me to make sure I was doing ok. I had been to phoenix hundreds of times but still managed to learn a ton of things I didn't know. Also we caught a weird figure in photos at the Rosson House when we looked back. A lot of us had the same photo from the same angle and the figure wasn't in all the photos. So definitely spooky!! 100% would recommend.

It was an absolutely wonderful tour! Had such a great and memorable time! Shout out to LUCAS! He had lots of enthusiasm upon telling all the spooky stories, it really felt like I was apart of a thriller movie/ video game!

If you're looking for a really creepy and scary ghost tour this may not be the one, BUT it was still entertaining and informative. We paid for the regular tour and the 30 minute extension. The extension was an extra $6 pp, so the total came to around 65. Keep in mind, I don't think they provide an end time because the tour length can vary. We paid for the 30 minute extension but didn't even stay cause it had gone over way longer than we thought, it had already been over 2 hours. You really need to know an end time especially if you have other things planned. Brandon was our guide and he was really funny and knew A LOT about the different stops on the tour (7 altogether). There did seem to be a lot more discussion about the history of the places themselves versus the scary ghost/paranormal/spooky activity that happens in them. For example you'd get a 20 minute history lesson at one location and then only 5 minutes about the paranormal activity that happens there. You also did a lot more standing than walking. One thing I wish Brandon did was talk towards the audience instead of towards the building, because in a big group it was very hard to hear him even with a microphone. Overall, it was a nice experience especially because the weather was great, you learn a lot and can work off the downtown Phoenix dinner you probably ate beforehand.

Great experience and amazing stories! Adam was super friendly and did a fantastic job!

We went expecting something different than we did. If you like more of a historical tour this is definitely your tour. It was cool knowing some facts I didn't know for being an Arizona native but I wouldn't do it again. Again that was just based on our experience.

Creepy photos at Hannys.

I had a great time. The pace was the right speed. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and was quick to answer any questions my self and any other attendees asked.

I don't think the dolls wanted their picture taken

Walking through the main door into the foyer, climbing the beautiful staircase, entering a bed chamber, seeing a pre-modern bathroom, admiring the kitchen and pantry antiquities in food preparation, admiring the home's décor, its design, its furnishings simply takes you back in time and allows one to somewhat sense the then lifestyle and what it was like to live a sophisticated, well-to-do lifestyle during that period. One is amazed at the stunning quality and fastidious workmanship created and implemented almost six generations ago! And compare the quality and art Rosson House personifies to today's Ikea and unassembled products. With every turn, every corner, every step and every breath of one's journey through this place in history is enjoyable and fascinating. The folks who walk you through this historic menagerie are professional and delightful, as well as brilliant in their presentation and knowledge of all things Rosson. I must say, this has been one of my most memorable attractions to attend in Phoenix and wholeheartedly recommend if you've not visited to do so as well as bringing out of town friends and family. The restoration and preservation of Rosson House is most admirable. And, make sure to stop off at the Museum Store - its well worth it.

(Vovomeena) For a leisurely after-breakfast walk, we went. We admired the grassy front lawns (many "newer" suburban communities don't allow grass in the front lawn) and the architecture of the homes (bungalows mostly) as well as the mature trees and landscaping. Then, just a couple days ago, it happened again. Lynwood is one nice street down which to take a stroll and check out the architecture. And it was then that I learned that this area is designated "The Historic Roosevelt Neighborhood" which is the area from McDowell to VanBuren and from Central to 7th Avenue. it's a series of neighborhoods that grew North of Phoenix between 1893 and 1930. Lynwood St is actually located in an overlap with historic area: "The FQ Story Neighborhood Historic District" which spans from McDowell south to Roosevelt Street and from 7th Ave west to Grand. I'd thought I'd noticed, too, as we'd driven by one of the homes..that there was a white box affixed to a tree. Christmastime...letters to Santa maybe? or maybe the home had a special historical designation...? The joy of discovery. Simple stuff. It wasn't either of those. Note: There's an annual home tour in early November "Historic Roosevelt Home Tour" If you feel like you want to keep walking/sightseeing - check out the nearby "Japanese Friendship Garden" at Portland and 3rd Ave...(there is an admission fee.)

I first heard about this company last month in a copy of What's Happening and was over the moon excited to take Adam on the Walking Ghost Tour downtown. We were both excited. But both tour times were sold out, which actually worked for the best because of a scheduling change. So, I emailed the company, heard back promptly about an additional tour date in September, and daily checked their site for the ghost tour to be added. You can bet that I jumped on those tickets immediately. And it was a wonderful, suspenseful evening. The tour is as much a history of downtown Phoenix as it is a walking ghost hunter expedition. We kicked off at Hilton Garden Inn (the former Professional Building cum Valley National Bank tower) on their 13th Floor bar and outdoor deck. The views were spooktacular! Hearing about the strange past of the building was a great. [I'd only previously known about its claim to fame as having one of the largest rotating neon signs.] Next stop: Renaissance Hotel. Did you know that corner was once home to the Adams Hotel, which burned to the ground in the hottest recorded fire in the city's history? Neither did I. Ever wonder how Ren came up with the name of their speakeasy? I sure was clueless. But I'll leave the answer to that one to the tour guides who take you in this adventure. After about 90 minutes and other site visits, we concluded our tour. None of my photos revealed any ghosts, but Adam--who is a horror buff, like me--and I really enjoyed our experience. I'm looking forward to their upcoming tours, especially of the Orpheum! With Halloween fast approaching, I couldn't think of many other experiences to truly delight in the odd and haunting history of my city.

Put on some comfy shoes, this is a walking tour and you will be on your feet for two hours. With moving to Phoenix in the mid-80's, Jimbo is very knowledgeable of Phoenix and filled in some holes of history I was not aware of. The legitimate paranormal experience I had on the tour was at the entry of the Security Building. Jimbo was giving us the history of the building and how the construction stalled and completed. As he is talking I get a cold feeling in the recessed entry off Central Ave. Then I see a very old heavy hanging light fixture sway as Jimbo is talking. As soon as we walk away, the swaying stops. There was no wind blowing that would have made that light fixture sway the way it did. Didn't have any other sightings, but the tour is well worth the price of admission! If you're a believer or not, you may or may not get a paranormal experience. The historical information alone of the buildings involved was a great thing for me. As you're walking and you're wondering about a building that is not covered, Jimbo was Johnny on the spot with giving us information about the building. The cool feature of the tour is you will have two opportunities to play with EMF meters, dowsing rods and spirit boxes.
