I needed to know I could achieve this. only a couple assists and I was UP! to the top!! Then I had to go down. He was very intuitive to my tendencies to overthink on the descend. Jason is amazing! I had a blast hiking with him as my guide. We captured an incredible sunrise by starting early and easily made it to the top for stunning 360 views! I saw people of all ages and fitness levels making the hike, so it's doable, just know your limits and Jason will keep you safe. Jason is a terrific guide! Laid back but safety conscious, knows the mountain well, good conversationalist. I am an amateur hiker, but had complete confidence that he would help me to the top, or if it turned out to beyond my safe ability level, "call it", which I appreciate. Knowledgeable, encouraging while keenly observing a hikers limitations and needs, e.g., he won't push you to injury or danger. Jason shared interesting local geo,mountain, wildlife, cultural and plant life info; an added bonus. So glad I completed this climb yesterday with Jason. I highly recommend his guide service for this amazing and fulfilling adventure. He does this climb on both sides on a regular basis so he knows it well. I went on the Echo trail with him and he is safety first, patient and extremely helpful. My favorite outdoor activity from November to April. Hiking Camelback is awesome. It is very difficult and not for amateurs. People injure themselves daily. The cholla side is easier than echo. Echo Canyon is prettt much a climb, cholla is a gradual incline. It takes about 45 min to an hour to get to the top. Coming down the mountain is challenging as well due to the steepness of the mountain. It's a great workout aerobically and physically. I am always sore after. read more

I just finished a sunset hike with Jason this morning and I highly recommend him to anyone that is considering taking on the mountain. Jason made sure I was comfortable the entire time even as I struggled with my fear of heights a bit. He made sure I did not give up and made it to the top. I'm so glad he did because the views were absolutely worth it. As for the mountain itself, it was challenging but definitely doable, especially if you have previous hiking experience. It's a must do if you are staying in the Phoenix area. I'd recommend getting there early like we did to avoid the crowds and the heat. If I'm fortunate enough to visit Arizona again, I will without a doubt be booking another hike! read more

Such an amazing view from the top. You can see the entire valley which is a much needed reward. The hike itself is no joke. You need plenty of water even in the winter time. Jason with Climb Camelback is absolutely outstanding!!! He took me up the Echo Canyon Trail in October and the Cholla trail in November, I would NOT have made it to the top either time without him, his encouragement, and his guidance. The Cholla trail starts out as a hike then turns into a climb. The trail is not exactly marked so having Jason there with me to guide me up the mountain was priceless. The favorite part of my vacation! I consider myself to be relatively fit with some hiking experience but I wouldn't want to do this hike by myself. Just moved to Scottsdale and the first hike I wanted to "tackle" was the Cholla Trailhead and see my new city from as high as I could. Given that the trail is considered "extremely difficult" I did not want to go it alone the first time. I e-mailed Jason from the Climb Camelback website and he was able to schedule me right away for a sunrise hike - I luckily can hike during the week so it is not as crowded/busy. Jason was a true professional from beginning to end. He followed up with me about where to meet, what to bring, etc... I found him quickly at the meeting place and we were off. This (Echo) is a extremely challenging hike! Start no later than 7 AM if possible and if doing in summer months. I cannot stress enough how much water you consume. Take at least four bottles per person at a minimum. Water becomes liquid gold to ur dry dusty mouth I wear my weight lifting gloves and they come in quite handy. My husband and I consider ourselves pretty fit and this mountain kicks our butt. Because it utilizes muscles you normally don't use. I've read a lot about people being rude on these reviews during ur climb and I'm sorry it's not true! The reason why the locals are so good is because it's in there backyard and they hike it constantly. Props to them. They run it for more of a challenge. It's just an unspoken rule to move to the side if someone is behind u running it and I always move more to the side when ppl are ascending and I'm descending as I know your struggling more breathing on the climb up. Everyone helps everyone.. You constantly here people calling out "hey you got enough water" and asking people if there ok if they seem to be struggling. Chivalry is alive on the mountain!
