雜果西米露 Mixed Fruit Delight mango mochi coconut mango roll

LOVE this place! First time checking out this location (I grew up visiting the one in Rowland heights). This place had a decent amount of dessert options left on a Friday evening. We LOVED the fresh mango mochi, which had a huge mango piece in it, yummy custard wrapped in mochi. We loved yikoyiko but this place clearly beats yikoyiko in our view. The mixed fruit dessert was also deliciously creamy and refreshing

I usually like Phoenix Dessert, and this San Diego location was amazing. I love their black sticky rice with young coconut it's so fragrant, soft, and perfectly sweet , $5.95 was very affordable . The black sesame dessert was a bit firmer than I prefer, but still was delicious. This is such a cool spot with so many food and dessert options. They have durian, mango, passionfruit, taro , lots of fun ingredients, and it's honestly enjoyable just browsing through everything. There are a few small tables inside and outside if you want to sit and enjoy your treats, but it's also a great place to grab something to go. Customer service here is friendly and attentive . Parking was easy to find, so getting in and out was no hassle at all.

Phoenix doesn't just sell desserts, they also have hot foods, cold dish, street food, tea and drinks. Their desserts are in the display window, some milk teas are bottled, some are made on the spot. We ordered: Fresh durian delight drink Braised pork belly Durian rolls Custard platter Bottled milk tea Bottled soy milk No complaints on the food or desserts. Hot foods remind me of home cooking. The durian rolls had actual durian seeds coated with the mochi sheet on the outside. The soy milk was too sweet for me. They change their hours every season so be sure to check before you go.

Stopped by after dinner to satisfy my sweet tooth and decided to try their Mango Lovers Dessert. It was good- light, refreshing, and packed with mango flavor. The portion is definitely shareable, it would've been way too much for me to finish on my own. I've had their durian rolls a few times prior, but was in the mood for something more refreshing and the mango lovers delivered. I did have an uncomfortable moment before going in- there was some inappropriate activity happening outside the shop, which made me feel a bit sketchy and unsure at first. When we went inside, the place was completely empty. But not long after, people started trickling in. Overall, I'd recommend stopping by if you're craving something fruity and refreshing. I may come back to try some of their other desserts next time.. like the Durian Lovers Dessert.

Upon walking in we were immediately greeted kindly by the workers. Near the entrance, there is the fridge displaying all the tasty looking desserts they have. We got a few to try, but thought they were a bit lacking in flavor. * Mixed Durian Rolls - 8.6/10 (i love durian & i was excited to see that there was a durian dessert. i like how the durian is enclosed with mochi on the outside. however, the durian was not as sweet & fresh as i was expecting. i wish there was a custard/cream inside to add some sweetness to the mochi) * Fresh Mango Pudding - 7/10 (nothing special, just a mango pudding with mango chunks inside. although i wish it had more of a creamy consistency, than a grainy one) * Green Tea & Red Bean Custard - 5/10 (i don't really taste much of green tea. it's pretty much jello with chunks of red bean inside) * Black Sticky Rice & Red Bean Custard - 6/10 (this one was sweeter than the green tea one which i liked. however, i still can't put my finger on the flavor. it's also just a jello with red bean inside. i don't think i am a fan of these custard desserts)

Normally I stop by Extraordinary Desserts when I'm down in San Diego but needing to cut down on sugar, I had to choose my treat for the most recent trip. Since it's currently only available in So Cal, my wanting to try Phoenix's durian mochi rolls for almost 2 years now, won out especially since they have opened up a San Diego location. I was so excited to discover I could get it in SD that I immediately hopped out of the pool, showered, and hightailed it over there to be Customer #1 that day. Definitely a winner that I literally went back for another pack to share. Having it filled with Musang Durian means I can have two right?

We ordered through Uber Eats! The delivery and service were fast! The quality of the desserts were very sumptuous! Not too sweet for me, which is good I like the presentation of how everything looks, and that the desserts were very easy to divide amongst the three of us. 10/10 recommend!

There are more Phoenix Desserts in the LA areas that I've been to before. Very happy to find this one in San Diego. It's a small shop with limited items and a few small tables inside. I always like their mochi and their custard with different flavors. They're all delicious especially if you have a sweet tooth. There are a few HK street food and a few cold dishes available. The cold tofu platter, the chicken wings, and samosa are all good. The curry fish ball is a bit disappointing and wish they use the white fish balls that are not fried. Be aware they only get shipments from LA on certain days, so they can run out of certain popular desserts. It would be nice if they open more locations.

Durian rolls, Thai mango sticky rice, Mango mochi
    Julie H.

Finally got to stop in and try a few of their desserts. I bought durian rolls and the mango mochi. My sister got the Thai mango sticky rice. My daughter gobbled down 2 mango mochis real quick. She's already talking about how we need to go back more next time. If you can stand the smell of durian and love to eat it then you will also enjoy the durian rolls. My sister said the mango sticky rice is also good but would be better with a little more coconut cream on top. Perfect sweetness level for all 3. Will come back to try other desserts, drinks and Chinese entrees/street foods next time.

I've been here a few times now and the service is always so wonderful. Cool little spot with seating inside and an array of desserts to choose from. Lately been on a mango pomelo sago search, so tried theirs and it was so amazing. Coconut based, delicious flavors and lots of fruit in the drink. One of my favorites of the summer. Thanks so much!

I've had Phoenix in OC. Glad they have a location in sd. They are known for their durian and mango rolls. The outside is mochi. It's chewy and the filling inside is a good amount of durian. The dessert is light and not too sweet. Also tried the assorted mochi. Filled with mango, red bean, taro and sesame. I didn't like it as much. It wasn't chewy. They have a lot of other desserts and drinks too.

I've had these desserts before in Orange County, so it's nice to have one in SD now. They are known for their durian desserts, but I like their mango rolls better. To be honest, I think durian stinks LOL. I also tried their mango pomelo delight, but it was too sweet for me. I'll stick to their desserts instead!

I was so excited to hear that there was a phoenix dessert in San Diego! We got the durian mochi rolls, mango rolls, and silken tofu with ginger syrup! It was delicious! The durian mochi is just as good as I remembered it to be! Mango as well! Definitely try this place out if you haven't yet!

The place smells decent, decently easy to find so no issues there. Cleanliness: the Buffett definitely needs some upgrading and cleaning. The rug smells and feels sticky to walk on, the counter area was clean but the ice cream section needed a deep clean, the cones were out of the packing and stale. The sprinkles were covered in ice cream and all over the place. The machine was covered in dried ice cream and caked on. I did not go into the restrooms, so I am not sure Food: cold. Everything except for the hibachi I got was cold. Shrimp, pork, chicken, all cold. They have an okay variety of deserts but other than the coffee and orange ones they were pretty bad. The flavor of the food was good, but the temperature of it was what really grossed me out and worry about food poisoning. It was during dinner at around 4pm so crab legs were included. My daughter devoured them and so did I. Best part of the buffet. Customer service: the waiters were very nice and kept our table clear. As soon as they notice we had our empty plates they would come around and grab them. I did notice and maybe it was just for that moment but we did get different waiters just grabbing our plates. Maybe they are doing a system where everyone waits on every table. Whatever they were doing it worked! We did mention at the end that our food was cold after we had paid and all because we were asked how we liked it. She did apologize and told us we should have brought up sooner so they could warm it up. That since it was slow the food gets cold. It was nice she apologized and all, but working in the food industry myself it is not any of the customers job to remind you to keep an eye on food temps. And you're supposed to keep food hot. Regardless they were nice. Would I come back? No. Would I recommend it? No. $60 for two adults $9 for my 4 yr old and $5 for my two yr old. So basically $80 for a family of 4 for cold food. Flavor was good though. So if you want to try it maybe you're lucky and get hot foods

At first, she said the order only could be done on 1 bill. And then later she compromised with 2 bills, 5 people per table. That was nice of her! I just had 2 coffees before entering so I decided to skip ordering Thai tea. But they had a large drink menu, of fruit teas and more. My friend had the lychee tea which was very large and looked super refreshing! They also came by often to top off our waters which was nice. To eat, I ordered the $16.99~, Cashew Chicken Stir Fry with White Rice. It came with onion, green onion, carrots, zucchini, bell pepper, and cashews. The carrots were beautifully cut, but a little too crunchy for me to properly enjoy in the stir fry. Everything else was delicious! I think this could definitely be shared between 2-3 people. It was a lot for me, even after a large hike. The sauce was flavorful and not overly salty. I didn't ask for any spice level, but I think I'd choose mild or medium next time. My friends ordered-- - $12.99, Dirty Fried Chicken: This had a blitz coating of lime, mint, and spices. And it was decorated with thinly sliced green onions with a side of sweet chili sauce. The chicken was hot and plump, not dry, and very much mouthwatering! Would recommend. - $14.99, Thai Grilled Chicken Salad: Grilled Chicken Breast on a bed of mixed green salad, carrots, and cucumbers with peanut dressing. It reminded me a little of chicken satay~ it smelled and looked incredible. I think I might order it next time, when I want something light and fulfilling after a hike. - $11.99, Cream Cheese Avocado Wontons (6PC): These came out piping hot and when you took a bite they were oozing. It was very creamy and when you dip into the plum sauce it's a delectable bite. A nice appetizer to share with the table. - $16.99-$19.99 (depends on what protein you get), Pad Thai: This proportion was manageable for one person. The restaurant used thin rice noodles, but it didn't clump excessively compared to other restaurants. The prices are what you'd typically see at a Pan-Asian restaurant, a few dollars more than what you'd want to spend. But these kinds of restaurants, in my opinion, are for enjoying with others. So, if you're sharing food and all that-- the price is worth it (esp with the quantity that is given). Next time, I would probably order one of their noodle dishes rather than rice. You can see the hard work and heart they put into the food; they are so warm and it makes you feel like you're getting to know them. It's a great spot for mixed groups of vegans and meat-eaters, and I noticed a lot of older families and couples there as well--in my opinion, it would make a great date spot. The food is incredibly thoughtful in a way that feels very personal. We started with a complimentary marinated tofu salad with a unique beet sauce, and the marinated tofu itself was excellent--honestly the best I've had in a while. I was told it's actually hand-made in-house, and you can really taste that quality. They also gave us fried tofu which was a hit with my friends. Eric was even kind enough to give us extra tofu to take home, and following his recommendation, my mother used it to make a fish soup the next day that was delicious. I ordered a modified pork tonkatsu rice noodle soup, and it had a warm, nurturing quality that made me feel right at home. It's a great fusion spot, and because there is so much soul in the food, it isn't monotonous at all. Eric was so attentive that he even brought me extra broth when he noticed my noodles had soaked it all up. They even provided complimentary ice cream and a glutinous rice dish at the end. You go here because you want to feel nurtured and eat food that is good for your body and your soul, and the cherry on top is getting to support such good people. This is just below the price for an Extraordinary Desserts cake slice, which is not only bigger and more complex, but also made fresh. We noticed the crepe cake slice we got had that dusting of ice sparkles, indicating it was frozen and defrosting, and additionally, as it defrosted, the more it started leaning. If you haven't tried Yiko Yiko, it's worth still checking out. That said, I think you'll be satisifed after one or two visits.
