JD Virata of Phoenix contracting was doing some repair work at a Neighbor's house in Yachats Oregon and I approached him about installing a complete new roof on my house. He said that he could do the job and we agreed on a price with installation to be completed in the fall of 2023. The contract included a five year guarantee from the date of final installation. After installation, I began to see stains on the kitchen ceiling from Water intrusion. The next spring, in 2024, after the rainy season, I asked JD to repair the leaks. He attempted to fix the leaks by caulking around the skylight over the kitchen. After more rain storms, it was clear that the leak was not resolved as more stains appeared in the kitchen ceiling. In fall of 2025, JD came back and installed new flashing around the skylight. After more rain storms, the roof continued to leak. I asked JD to place a tarp over the areas that were leaking and he complied with that request. The next spring, in 2026, new stains began to appear in the living room ceiling below the roof vents and black mold began to appear in some areas. I attempted to contact JD through phone calls, emails and text messages but received no responses to any of those communications. At that time, I decided to call in additional roofing experts to evaluate the problem. Three experts looked at the roof and indicated that there were problems with the installation. I selected one of the Roofing contractors to make the repairs in the fall of 2026. The cost of that repair was about $1500. Following that roof repair which involved installing a new flashing for the skylight and new roof vents, the leaks seemed to have stopped. I sent an email to JD requesting reimbursement for the roof repair but received no response. I cannot recommend Phoenix contracting for any type of construction work. read more
