Not very familiar with the area, there are lots of places to eat close by including eating outside. This restaurant, which looks like a mini diner, had some good outdoor seating and that's where we ate. Went on a Sunday late morning and the weather which had been very iffy, turned really nice. Lots of choices, a huge menu (diner lite) with some Mexican options. Thought the huevos rancheros was excellent as was the Florentine omelette as well as the coffee. Prices were very reasonable, portions were huge and the service was very good and the staff was also very friendly. Phoenix cafe is a nice little diner-type restaurant on Main Street in Somerville and definitely feels like a more old school place than a lot of the trendy restaurants nearby. I went for breakfast on a Saturday morning and it was pretty quiet- just a few other tables around 11am. The menu is huge and very affordable! I had a really simple breakfast of just scrambled eggs, bacon, home fries and toast. My meal was pretty average. Nothing out of the world but just good, typical diner food! My husband had some sort of omelet and said it had a little too much going on with the flavors. All in all it wasn't my favorite breakfast ever but I would go back! read more

Simple diner fare with great customer service! I had their garden veggie egg white omelet which came with homefries and toast and my husband had chocolate chip pancakes. They also have a good lunch selection. The food is typical diner fare. Pancakes and hamburgers and stuff. Great place to grab a quick meal or just sit and chat for a while. Probably the best place to get a inexpensive breakfast in Somerville. I ordered a western omelette with cheese and it came out quickly and was served with a smile. The home fries were cooked to perfection. Perfectly crispy and brown but not greasy. The booths might be a little bit small but not really a big deal. The location is nice and there is plenty of seating and little wait times if any. The menu has alot to chose from and will definitely fill you up. The food is ok, standard diner fare. The problem is not the service, as other reviewers said. It's the microscopic booths. A family of 4 can't fit in one of their booths yet they squeezed us in there when two round tables were available. Then they seated a loud individual right next to us. We've been here before several times and the food was good with fair prices. But today's visit was different. My wife ordered a gyro omelet and she had to use ketchup to give it taste. My piggy omelet was just ok. Both of these items are on their breakfast special menu which includes a beverage. My wife ordered a plain tea with lemon (not anything special like Earl Grey or such) and they charged $1.20 extra for it. Then I asked for some cinnamon sugar to go with my toast and they charged .30 extra for that too. Not a big deal but it's little things like this that will turn repeat customers away. Great little spot on Main St! Classic Jersey diner feel with familiar breakfast combinations. I ordered a Belgian waffle with pork roll and a side of scrambled eggs with mozzarella. I did like that they saved on plate use and put my eggs on top of my waffle. I hate when I order food at a diner and you're given 2 or 3 plates. The only downside is that because my eggs were still very hot, it made the waffle lose its crispiness. However, taste was still all there! Believe it or not, it is possible to mess up a Belgian waffle but this place knows how to do it right. I was also pleasantly surprised that I was given 3 slices of pork roll! Service was fast since it was the middle of a Wednesday afternoon but I'd surely come again if I was in the area. read more

I went in for their $2.79 or $2.99 breakfast special. I would say its a great value if you are in the area. I am all for a reasonable deal and decent food. I was happy to find a place like this, b/c its a greek owned diner. Usually greek diners crank out decent food and reasonable prices. I wouldn't say this is the best breakfast but for the price its a great price if you are in somerville. I want to go back to try other dishes. As for the food, my dish came out promptly, the quality of the food was good but not great. Service was good with no complaints. My husband and I came in here for breakfast on a weekday. Good news was that we found on-street parking pretty quickly, and the place was loaded with police officers. So, you know, we felt safe ;) We both opted for breakfast food: I had two eggs over easy, sausage, and 2 french toast. Hubs had the corned beef hash, two eggs sunny side up, and home fries. I was very happy with my meal. The french toast was sublime--crispy on the outside and meltingly soft and creamy on the inside. The sausage was the good stuff. Not some silly old boxed stuff that is cardboardy and chewy. Hubs was turned off by his corned beef hash. He felt it was a little gelatinous and not a very pleasing texture. We both agreed the coffee was great. Service was good, too. The place does look like it could use a good scrub-down. Overall, I was happy and I would return. read more

Hands down this is my go to place for breakfast. They offer many specials at a great price and in good sized portions. You can also order off the regular menu, prices there are very fair for the area. I had breakfast with a friend here last Sunday. I assumed nothing good came out of Jersey, but boy was I wrong. This diner is situated on a street lined with cute shops, and Mc-Stores. The service was quick and friendly. The corned beef hash tasted great, and was served in a huge portion. The eggs and sausage were just ok.
